Assassin's Creed Creator Reveals New Game

Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Desilets has revealed his upcoming title "Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey" will be a very different offering from what the industry seen from him before.

DarkOcelet3200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

LOL.... Our ancestors were non violent? Can we get our facts straight here. Seriously WTF is this? Back then violence and cannibalism were huge and here we have this guy saying our ancestors were non violent. SMH.

I was really interested to see his project as i liked the first two Assassins Creed games but now tbh, i really think he should get revise his concepts because they sound stupid.

phantomexe3200d ago

He didnt say anything untrue! You may want to read what he said again.

Germany73200d ago

Actually, he did, saying something like that is really untrue.

UltraNova3200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

Not only our ancestors were more violent than us, the very times they lived in were not forgiving either, with average life expectancy being half of what it is today, poverty was the norm, 9/10 people lived mainly from the land (a back-breaking way to live) and diseases were rampaging (even a simple flu virus could kill you). Thieves, rapists and murderers were running lose everywhere and state policing was a rare sight.

Only in the last 100 years we can safely say that things got 'better', and I don't think this game will be based on humanity's latest chapter.

So yes trying to justify your decision on making a non-violent game about violent times, while distorting history to justify your excuse is untrue to say the least.

@UltraNova & DarkOcelot

You guys should red what he said again. Because nowhere did he say that our ancestors weren't violent, or that they were any less or more violent than we, as a society, are today. But, typical pseudogamers who don't care what the game is as a whole, just as long as it's something to criticize, judge, mock, smear, or trash, as that seems to be what today's gamers do.

He didn't even say he was trying to make a non-violent game. It's pretty saddening that most of you are at least 15 years of age, but have the reading comprehension of an eight year old.

hay3199d ago (Edited 3199d ago )

He clearly mentions an example in "caveman" portion of the game, when the ability to gang on bigger animals, build group shelters were the key to survival or figure out ways to optimise resource usage.

Even today wars are a very last resort, every self-respected military school teaches to evade war and violence at all cost.

I think some of us are just clicking too much Call of Duty or other Diablo to think in civilised manner and give ourselves enough merit to be a bit more than a stick wielding savage.

Look at it this way, animals aren't violent, they are territorial. Maybe that is his thought about violent human interaction.

Wedge193200d ago

Agreed. Active, power hungry, and hateful aggression, versus the basic survival instinct.

DragonKnight3200d ago

Animals are violent when they hunt for food. That has nothing to do with territory unless a foreign animal is trying to steal food.

JeffGUNZ3199d ago

Have you seen wolves? They basically kill ANYTHING, It's not uncommon to see a pack of wolves kill 10 cattle so to speak and only one was eaten. Wolves are no joke and are violent animals.

@jackstraw

What you said: " You guys should red what he said again. Because nowhere did he say that our ancestors weren't violent, or that they were any less or more violent than we, as a society, are today."

What Patrice Desilets said:
"Our ancestors back then weren't that violent," he says. "They weren't fighting each other. Cooperation and compassion are really part of the reason why we survived..."

So yeah, he said exactly that. Then for you to try and generalize and insult everyone saying they are 15 with a 8 year old reading comprehension actually says a lot about you, and it's not positive.

JeffGUNZ3199d ago

Of course violence has been around forever, but his point is compassion prevailed since the species flourished and wasn't wiped out from killing each other. Also, his example is from cavemen era, he specially points to that and he is right. Their is no documented "war" or significant acts of violence.

The most pretentious game ever...

annoyedgamer3200d ago

lol "humankind" PC friendly game confirmed.

jznrpg3200d ago

Strange way of looking back at history considering it was survival of the fittest since who knows when.

HaHa_Ostrich3200d ago

Wow, why so much hate? I like the idea. Prehistorik modern remake :)

SilentNegotiator3199d ago

Clearly the "hate" has to do with his preposterous statements.

lucian2291071d ago

I've really been meaning to try this but worried about how long it takes to get into it. Maybe one day, nice to see it sold so well

Spenok1071d ago

For such poor review scores that's kind of impressive.

Definitely a pause month for me.

Terry_B1208d ago

Worst humble choice month of the year so far :-)

njitram20001208d ago

By that reasoning it's also the best XD

Skuletor1208d ago

I wonder how many users would have to pause a month for them to reconsider what kind of games they're offering

UltimateOwnage1207d ago

It’s really sad but Humble Bundle has kind of lost its allure for me since they sold out to IGN. Haven’t gotten a bundle since. I respected what they used to stand for.
