saying that with your avatar in mind

KiwiViper853200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

If the screen is actually green.

Did they purposely choose some one who has never played assassins creed before? Ruined the video for me.

bixxel3200d ago

ACS is just a glitchless version of Unity.

DOMination-3200d ago

Black Flag with a glitchless version of AC3 and that game was terrific. I played Unity a few months after launch and it seemed like their patches fixed most of the issues. I just hope they improve the story because it was weak in Unity.

AliTheSnake13199d ago

Here is a suggestion for all of you hating AC, or any other game for being glitchy, do not buy the game on launch. I remember a huge backlash back when AC3 came out, I bought it the summer after it came out for 20 bucks, the game was fucking great, loved it, encountered zero glitches. I just bought Unity, for 20 bucks off amazon.

"...45 Minutes of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s..."

Added a couple new functionalities but it's basically the same crap as other AC games. Looks boring...

This series needs to rest for a few years.

listenkids3200d ago

Just don't play it.

If you earned money like they do, you'd milk it too, simple.

RiseofScorpio3199d ago

No it needs to go from West to East if you know what I mean.

Blaze9293200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

"Enjoy 45 Minutes of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate"

i wish I could. That video was BORING. I can happily say I won't be picking up this version of AC. Bring ninjas/samurais or gtfo

Lukejrl3200d ago

That would be a new Tenchu game we have been waiting for. Ninja and samurai.

bixxel3200d ago

AC S = not bad but "meh" confirmed

BattleTorn3199d ago

I can happily say the same.

They need to completely reinvent this franchise...

Black flag was such a great game, when first announce they show gameplay and the final release look like that, also it managed to break out of the box and add diversity to the series, boarding your ship go to battle sailing the wide range sea with lots of differente things to do was freaking awesome also dont forget the awesome battleship bosses, sadly ubisoft went back to its boring roots with unity and now this version, what a shame :/

Metallox3200d ago

Allow me to disagree, Black Flag wasn't a great game. It may have brought "variety" to the series, but that still didn't made it great it. The whole package is a mixed bag: while the maritime exploration was decent until some degree, the classic part of the series was as mediocre as recent entries because, in general, there's nothing interesting to do! And the main missions are pretty bare bones as well.

Secondly, the ships were cool until they fell into monotony, and without more variety or at least decent rewards (like different kinds of upgrades for the Jackdaw, for example), I lost interest in the game a couple of months later after launch.

Black Flag was set to be a great game, but it needed more time so developers could be able to construct a better design.

MiamiACR253200d ago

Don't downplay what a refreshing change of pace Black Flag was compared to the tried and true Assassins Creed formula just so you can disagree with something. There were plenty of interesting things to do and side contracts that kept you busy along with the improved naval/close quarters combat from AC3. You say it fell into monotony and there wasn't much variety but started off your 'Disagree just to disagree' statement with "It may have brought variety to the series, but that still didn't MADE IT GREAT IT" (Special Education?). Of course you lost interest in the game a couple of months after launch, the majority of people would have completed it by then or even 100% it like I did since it really was a great game on it's own Assassins Creed or not. Losing interest? Buy a new game or go fight Somalian pirates in real life.

Tell me in your own words what "Better design" the team could have come up with given all that they had accomplished in their development time, maybe you'd like a ship upgrade that provided you with jet fueled turbines in the back to boost your ship speed. The sales of the game and wide critical acclaim it received upon release crush your opinion like the uninformed noise that it is.

mezati993200d ago

@Metallox

THIS, this so much...

Metallox3200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

@MiamiACR25

I said "variety" because the supposed variety, like the ships, wasn't interesting for the long term, or, like I like to say, "great". And a way the developers could have followed to made it "great" was putting better rewards. Black Flag is ok as it is, but it didn't do much to offer a sentiment of accomplishment.

I can clearly understand why some players like the game a lot, I know where they are coming, but it's still not my cup of tea.

The game gives money, weapons and skins for the ship and Edward himself that at the end of the day are pointless. The game doesn't become more epic or challenging just by acquiring new suits for Edward or new weapons, they don't make noticeable differences.

And even then, you don't need rewards if your gameplay is well put it in the world. And Black Flag drops the ball in this regard.

The combat isn't cool, as you just evade and the counter attack, the enemies follow the same scheme attack, you don't win much by killing them.

Parkour isn't cool either, the controls are a bit blocky in that regard, and with that functionality you just get pointless collectibles: treasures, songs and faster journeys, of course. But still, POINTLESS.

What about missions? You keep rescuing pirates from soldiers, assaulting sugar deposits, the same combats over and over, etc. Oh, and you gotta love this mission:

https://youtu.be/CXV1hXS9gw...

I'm sorry, but this mission shows you that Black Flag's controls aren't particularly amazing, that the campaign is boring and also that for a character that had its weight in the story, like Hornigold, well, Ubisoft didn't make him justice.

The presentation of the game isn't great either. You have all these historic cities like La Habana, Kingston, Nasáu and such... and Ubisoft made their environments quite samey. This is another issue that was also present in Assassi's Creed III and, of course, Unity. Since the terrain looks the same in all places, the mission design is also less varied.

The very cool parts of Black Flag is in the naval combat. Here, you actually FEEL PROGRESSION, but not for much time. Once you can battle galleons, say goodbye to the epicness, because you won't find more powerful ships, and the ones available won't change more either.

You also keep getting sugar, rum, wood, clothes and stuff like that after assaulting ships. Again, the same.

I also felt that some of the naval missions in the main campaign were very frustrating, at the point where I simply didn't want to do them and just keep doing another thing.

There's an interesting part in the game where you must fight colossal ships. THAT IS what I wanted to see in Black Flag. They offer challenge, all of them have their special attacks and bring you lots, lots of money.

Ubisoft definitely could have implented stuff like this in the campaign and during free roam, but they couldn't because they only had less than two years of development.

I don't disagree because I disagree, I have my reasons.

Also, pardon me if I'm not very clear in some points, but English is not my first language.

MiamiACR253200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

I read all that you wrote unfortunately, and the only thing I came to agree on in the end was that English is in fact not your first language. The message is clear though, you're incompetent and love making lots of noise.

"Black Flag is ok as it is, but it didn't do much to offer a sentiment of accomplishment."

If you depend so much on a game to give you a 'sentiment of accomplishment' it's time to review your options in life.

"I said "variety" because the supposed variety, like the ships, wasn't interesting for the long term, or, like I like to say, "great"."

This is entirely your opinion that the ships weren't interesting for the long term, much less 'Great'. It's also an unpopular one since it was mechanically sound and above all fluid in reality when playing the game, I'm sure you already knew that but what sells more news than bad news, especially when it comes from a mouthbreather such as yourself on a gaming website.

"The game gives money, weapons and skins for the ship and Edward himself that at the end of the day are pointless."

They aren't pointless, while the armor provides more damage resistance against enemies and more unique armor sets provide a visual and gameplay advantage, the weapons give a higher possibility for chaining kills together and more damage output against stronger enemies.

"I'm sorry, but this mission shows you that Black Flag's controls aren't particularly amazing, that the campaign is boring and also that for a character that had its weight in the story, like Hornigold, well, Ubisoft didn't make him justice. "

In the video the player sucks at driving his ship and goes straight into the shore, the game is at fault of course in your small mind. I could go on and on and on with you but I'm a betting man that it won't make a difference, and also betting high that you're depressed and can't find much enjoyment out of life much less entertainment without picking out flaws when they exist and even ones that don't and you made up in your poor poor mind.

So instead I'm going to pick and choose quotes from you that best explain to anyone who might read this what a depressed attic dwelling albino you are for all our enjoyment.

"at the end of the day are pointless."

"The game doesn't become more epic or challenging"

"the same combats over and over, etc."

"wasn't interesting for the long term, or, like I like to say, "great"."

"there's nothing interesting to do!"

"the ships were cool until they fell into monotony"

" I lost interest in the game a couple of months later after launch. "

"Parkour isn't cool either"

There was so much more but to sum it all up, quit whining loser and enjoy your next game.

starchild3200d ago

What a bunch of nonsense. People complain Assassin's Creed is too similar game to game, but then if one of them does change in significant ways then suddenly people bash it for supposedly not being an Assassin's Creed game.

I'm willing to bet my life that people would complain no matter what. The truth is, Assassin's Creed has changed just as much as we have seen in Uncharted, Halo or any other popular game series. If they change it much more than that, people complain that it's no longer Assassin's Creed. It's a no-win situation.

Metallox3200d ago

@starchild I never said Black Flag wasn't good because it was too different. In fact, I clearly said the naval segment of the game was the best.

It was a great game but it wasn't a great AC game.

Now if they took that stuff, improved on it and put it into a Pirate based new IP with RPG elements then we may have a winner.

MiamiACR253200d ago

"That Assassins creed game was great, but it really wasn't a great Assassins creed game man, throw in some RPG elements and a card game and I'm ready to f*ck."

Baka-akaB3200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

My feeling exactly , it was a stellar pirate game and a welcome diversion from the mediocrity of AC3 (even the dlc were more interesting and delivering some of the promised goods) .. but it wasnt a particularly good parkour game , nor stealth game , and not a proper AC .

Lamboomington3200d ago (Edited 3200d ago )

Going back to the roots is what will save the franchise - IF they do it right

Go back to the roots and REFRESH the basic gameplay mechanics.

Ubisoft had about 5 streams and everyone else's demos weren't broken. Here, the framerate in the first playthrough is bad compared to the second.

NerdStalker3200d ago

They need to throw a few tough boss battles into assassins creed, spice the game up, it's a good game and it could be great if they were willing to go out side there comfort zone and try to reinvent some of it. graphics in the last one were superb imo.

RiseofScorpio3199d ago

This better be the last one in Europe, this just isn't the right setting for assassins creed, there's frickin revolvers.

Underrated that's debatable.

chicken_in_the_corn143d ago

One of the most overrated imo. A big step backwards from Unity.

Relientk77143d ago

I loved Syndicate! I played this game mostly as Evie because of her stealth abilities and loved using a cane sword.

Is Assassin's Creed Syndicate worth playing in 2023?

GF365: "Is Assassin's Creed Syndicate worth playing in 2023? Many veteran fans consider this game the last “real” Assassin's Creed game. Did that opinion age well? How does Syndicate compare against the previous game, Unity?"

I would say more maybe when you burned through your backlog.

cbuc1125414d ago

I thought it was great back in the day. Evie was a master at stealth, while Jacob was the fighter. Good 💩!

glennhkboy412d ago

I didn't find them that different in terms of stealth vs power.

cbuc1125412d ago

Well they were. She could go full invisible and blend into the environment at the highest level. Jacob could shoot a gun mid punch while fighting. You needed to build out the skill tree.

Chocoburger413d ago (Edited 413d ago )

It was the last in the series I actually liked, before they went full-blown grindfest. This game had grindy features too, but at least it had some limits.

My biggest issue was that it didn't move the modern story forward which was a let down. Still a fun game, though.

robtion413d ago

Definitely, it is a great game with a really detailed setting.

Unfortunately, you can't play it on PS5 though as it has a major flickering glitch with the lighting/shadows which makes it unplayable.

robtion413d ago

Really? Great, thanks for letting me know. It must have been relatively recent because when I downloaded it to play again on PS5 sometime in the last 12 months it was still really bad.

Good news though, now I can give it another play through. Never did the Jack the Ripper quests previously so want to give them a try.

P_Bomb412d ago

Yeah the patch was most appreciated. That graphic breakup/flicker was awful.

MadLad413d ago

Still consider it the best since Brotherhood.

DarXyde412d ago

Brotherhood was the last one I liked, but in fairness, I checked out after Revelations (which I really struggled to maintain interest in long enough to finish it. I eventually did but I couldn't tell you a thing about it though because I really did it out of necessity to finish something I started).

By that time, fatigue really set in and I simply don't care about it anymore.

I just wish they'd patch Black Flag on consoles to enable 60 fps. Of all the earlier AC titles that was my favourite.

421d ago
Relientk77421d ago

That's really cool that Ubisoft is finally patching this even though its too late for me. I never thought they were going to patch it, so I beat AC Syndicate on PS4 end of last year. That's one game off my backlog.

anast421d ago

Sweet. This is one of my favorite ACs. I'll fire it up when I get the chance.

Pedrof421d ago

It's cool. It's just a bummer they didn't take the opportunity to also unlock the framerate.

chicken_in_the_corn420d ago

Awesome news. This is the main reason for pushing back my replay.
