Alex has been waiting since E3 for somebody to talk about the new Xbox controller from a multiplayer balancing point of view. Instead, everyone has been talking about the price, whether its worth getting and how customisable it is.

-If you have to ask then its not for you....preorders look good, its going to sell well to those who like luxury gaming accessories like me, I spent over $500 on my wheel setup alone just for Forza....and thats after last gen with me putting about a grand into a wheel setup that I cant use now.

Sony is politically very well connected, and most of the people who control the media, and own the media outlets we get info from have the same politics as the Sony leadership in America. I agree and usually with scuff controllers, the amount actually out and about are quite small. However I really think this being a MS controller is going to drive sales far in excess of a scuff controller. Which, in my humble opinion will turn the tide in MP fairness.

That's why I wrote the article, mainly because nobody is talking about that side of the coin and partly to see what other peoples opinions are on the subject. Didn't expect a bunch of cry babies to start throwing the typical ps4 fan boy title around.

I can't imagine very many people dropping that kind of money on a controller though. I don't even think Oculus will be able to move these because regardless, it's going to cost quite a bit for it. Elite controllers have always been for a very select group of people. As long as it doesn't offer an advantage for competitive play, I'm okay with it as an option.

Waiting for a new review or second generation of this controller since like all new hardware it will most likely come with some issue.Razer tournament edition first generation had issues Scuf had issues,so im not ever again going to buy another super expensive controller at release,the next revision will end up been cheaper and better i have learn the hard way !

All Xbox fans should leave this site alone. This site is pure BS. Sony has formatted this generation off everything the 360 did and got criticized for last gen. Now it seems what Sony is doing is the best thing since sliced bread. Sony fans are fake. All we where here is how e3 needed gameplay and not so many trailers as well as games that are coming out soon. Sony did the complete opposite and got a lot of credit for what the fans didn't ask for. Microsoft has two platforms and as it seems they is going to be MAJOR support. The PlayStation consoles have always appealed to a certain demographic. In this capacity, Sony has not changed. They took ideas they thought were good ones from Xbox and Nintendo and adopted what they felt were the stronger aspects. Ideas are hardly new anymore really. Nintendo made the rumble pak in a controller with an analog stick, Sony builds it into the controller with 2 analog sticks, but they can be depressed, which is also true for the original Xbox. Sega makes pressure sensitive triggers in Dreamcast, Sony makes pressure-sensitive face buttons, which were also featured in the original Xbox. PlayStation's prototypes for Move predate Nintendo's Wii by at least a couple of years. Microsoft introduces an online gaming network to consoles, Sony begins PSN and expands with cross-platform play which Microsoft now appears to be looking into. Articles for Sony's use of cloud computing predates Microsoft's announcement of the Xbox One. PS4 was announced before Xbox One with planned features such as suspend/resume (which the PSP had) and Microsoft announced it can do that as well after the fact. Sony also standardized HDDs in every console.

Now about decisions for the platform, you can just as easily argue that Sony is actually doing what they did with PSOne and PS2 rather than Xbox 360. Maybe Xbox 360 took some pages from Sony's book? I think if you can compare Xbox 360 to PS4, you should be able to compare PS3 to Xbox One. Both launched at a steep price point, forcing things on you (Blu-Ray in PS3, Kinect in Xbox One), they both play the worse version of multiplatform titles early on this generation, etc. They're both playing catch-up to the more popular console now.

And for the record, Sony got credit for what people have been asking for for literally ages.

Not saying some Sony fans aren't fake, but I'd argue there are just as many fake Xbox fans.

Actually, the original xbox did not have pressure sensitive buttons (the reason mgs2 on xbox was so hard) and the first xbox had an hdd while the ps2 was still using memory cards.

I think you're missing my point on cross-platform play. I'd wager it's thanks to Sony's tendency to be more prolific about those types of games that they're looking to make it more frequent. Microsoft missed out on A Real Reborn.

The original Xbox did in fact come with a HDD, but that's not my argument; the keyword was standardized. It was more of a convenience back in those days, but the PlayStation 3, again, made it standard. Every console had it and even the Wii had internal memory. Microsoft realized this mistake and made it standard in every Xbox One this generation.

The entire point here is that the industry is hardly original anymore. Saying one company is copying another's strategies, regardless of who it is, is pretty silly. What, should they do exactly what their competitors didn't do even if they were successful? All Sony is doing this time around is paying better attention to their consumers earlier on. It's not about copying Xbox 360 because it's not the first successful console. If anything, Sony reflected, saw what they did to win over gamers with PSOne and PS2, recounted what went wrong with PS3, and are actively doing things better with PS4.

Microsoft has better and MUCH more costly engineering that went into their Elite controller, yet Microsoft is somehow making a mistake, for offering a $150 Elite controller that is a result of their 100+ million in controller research and development!?

I suppose Microsoft is bad for striving to make good use of their tens of millions in controller research that can't be implemented without justifiably costing an "elite" price, yet pool cues can cost over 10 times that, even ones that focus more on playability than artwork... arguing $150 is too expensive is ABSURD, compared with most hobbies. The point I was making wasn't about how (reasonable the idea is that) the two companies can't match each other on all fronts.

My point was more about how people constantly insult ways that Microsoft should be regarded as winning a "battle" in the console "wars", such as with the negative BC SPIN, SPINNING the Elite controller as a negative, or all the many other bunches of BS against Ms, such as SPIN about how replaceable batteries that last many times longer are outdated and supposedly are an inexcusable "mistake" for Microsoft to implement "in this day and age", AKA BACKWARDS.

After that, notice how you're BACKWARDS SPINNING it as the most expensive while some mice cost more or some modded controllers cost more, and you're not considering that it may last over 3 times as long, thus IT IS LIKELY less EXPENSIVE than other controllers for those that play hardcore many hours a day. That's how you're BACKWARDS... AGAIN.

What actually "may be" the most expensive controller (and most lousy due to being inconsistent between different ones) is having to buy 3-4 DS4s to play wirelessly for 10+ hours a day, plus then have to replace them more often because they're made of cheap materials. Thus, BACKWARDS... AGAIN.

For reasons I just mentioned (mostly due to non-replaceable low life batteries), the DS4 is "overrated" by anyone claiming it is great for a serious gaming controller (it can't support all day playing without being wired), and thus you're BACKWARDS (AGAIN) claiming the Elite is overrated while it hasn't been reviewed much or time tested, though it clearly appears as if it "may be" worth *OVER* the $150... just the term "mod" implies the Elite may be a better rated product just because it isn't a "hack", thus modded controllers may actually be the ones "overrated" versus the Elite.

The OBVIOUS real reason for people naysaying the Elite is because Sony has nothing comparable... if Sony did, Elite naysayers would hypocritically change their tune (as they say, "#FACT!"). That's obvious... naysaying a game controller that's potentially the optimal for serious gamers is flawed on so many levels I don't have enough character space to describe it all. Same goes for naysaying BC.

The Elite is an all around positive, and the spinning it into a negative is what actually "perpetuates" my responses explaining how those BACKWARDS always BS fLAMER logic that fails so many times over it is absurd that they don't notice, possibly because they mistakenly keep thinking other people are the problem.
