These Xbox 360 oddballs can shine again on Xbox One

Fully faithful and flawless backwards compatibility is no easy feat. When the architecture is alien and outdated, as it with the Xbox 360 in comparison to its successor, it makes software emulation especially difficult and prone to erratic behavior. Even Microsoft, a giant in software development, needs time to finalize its solution: a simulation of the Xbox 360 on the Xbox One, pinned to a hope that your old games don’t realize they’re living in a fake computer-generated world.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is such an underrated and beautiful game. I would advise anyone to pick that game up and play it.

Where's Shadow Complex 2!?

brich2333221d ago

I fell a sleep playing El Shaddai.

Farmassy3221d ago

I encourage everyone to play shadowrun. It is without a doubt the most underrated game on 360 and is an amazing FPS... it was ahead of its time

"Where's Shadow Complex 2!?"

At the time I believe that it was too expensive for a download title. And UE3 was in a broken state.

Not that such should mean much now. UE4 seems to work perfectly.

Great article. The BC is invaluable for me because I have over 100 x360 games and the fact that saves, DLCS, and achievements carried over while still allowing the gamer to play against x360 consoles is a stroke of Genius. Biggest Megaton news in a long time.

christocolus3221d ago (Edited 3221d ago )

Agreed. It's an awesome feature to have and i know i'll be using it.

So multiplayer IS cross platform? Awesome. That's great news.
I did not know that, but that is huge, if you ask me. Good deal.

This can also extend the 360 network support indefinitely. Well, maybe not that but much longer than even anticipated.

No Way3221d ago

No doubt, man. There's still people I'd like to play with that only own a 360. So, this kinda helps out here. Can still play old games with them, as well as new games - by myself or with those who upgraded. Awesome.

Lol Rookie Monster's posts are hilarious. He always manages to make me laugh.

N0TaB0T3221d ago (Edited 3221d ago )

I love his posts too, I sincerely do, but I don't understand the grim and gray seriousness of people who spam the disagree button, just to make a statement against consumer flexibility.

BC is one of the most customer-friendly design decisions regardless of personal appeal, people are spending big bucks on the system and likely yet not always buying a game *with* their initial purchase of the console. I have more 360 games and that's a given, considering I have little money to just up and replace worn out DVD trays on my 360.

Again... What's wrong with BC, N4G'ers?

Godmars2903221d ago

"What's wrong with BC, N4G'ers?"

This form of it is both piecemeal and can be blocked by publishers/IP holders for the most obituary of reasons.

MSBAUSTX3221d ago

Enslaved was a graphically amazing game for last generation. Extremely beautiful and Very fun too. I really hope they bring several Konami games to the BC list. Along with All of the 360 games I own lol.

Tumaras3221d ago

If it were full bc of all 360 games it might be more useful, but being limited to a short list of less than 10% of the 360 dvd games (at least to start) isn't overly exciting. I think that will start to sink in once the list is released. That list has to get pretty close to 100% before I can ditch my 360. We've all been through this exact limited bc thing before with fat ps3->ps2 bc.

MSBAUSTX3221d ago

Did you not see that when it launches for everyone this fall it will have over 100 games on its BC list?

Angeljuice3221d ago

Fat (launch) PS3 had hardware bc and was 100% compatible. The software solution that followed the redesign was poor.

Unfortunately MS is going to have the same problems. There is no way they will have all titles working flawlessly whilst using software emulation.

TheNew13221d ago

Hopefully these publishers gives MS permission for these games. Especially Rockstar for Red Dead since I never played it ;(.
