Konami has confirmed what the ratings board previously leaked: a new Yu-Gi-Oh! card game is heading to current gen home consoles with Legacy of the Duelist.
Kane Bugeja writes:
It’s time to duel. Get your game on. Feelin’ the flow. At one time or another, these phrases have carried with them the promise of victory, the affirmation that hope remains alive until the very end. Throughout stories of ancient pharaohs, high school turmoil and wars between dimensions, one hero after the other has taken up the mantle to show that a simple card game is anything but and that a single draw can save worlds…also that no hairstyle is too bizarre.
Konami aren't quite done with consoles yet as they're preparing for another Yu-Gi-Oh! game, this time.for PS4 and Xbox One.
Oh great we get this amazing Yu-Gi-Oh instead of that crappy silent hills game, thanks soooo much Konami. Can anyone sense my sarcasm?
Yeah, Silent Hills would have been a $hitty game anyways. This here is the real deal .
Said no one ever...
I guarantee you this is going to be like some shitty mobile game with microtransactions for card packs and such.
Yu-Gi-Oh? Seriously? Are there enough fans to buy it...that actually care? I'm curious... Gonna look up some past yugioh game sales.... brb...
A Yu-Gi-Oh game is a much better choice over Silent Hills... when it comes to 'DLC' milking.
I think Jeff Gerstmann said it best when he said "man, Konami doesn't give a ****!!!!!!!"
Do you have any idea how much a silent hills game costs as opposed to this? Come on stop being an idiot and understand that this company is bleeding money and can't afford to do AAA games like that anymore.
Silent Hills made by Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro...pretty sure it would have made the money back and even made a profit
do you have any idea how much silent hills would have made compared to this? Come on stop being an idiot.
Do you have any idea how much a Silent Hills game would have made as opposed to this? Come on stop being an idiot.
If you thought they were bleeding before, wait till they start seeing the *ahem* rewards they reep for betraying the gamers' trust.
Edit:
sorry for the double post. a glitch on my phone had me thinking the original post never went up. wish there was a delete post option...
They aren't bleeding money period FACT....IF anything they are tired of spending millions upon millions to make a game that sells 7 million copies IF they're lucky...Their money comes from mobile, casinos and hotels...Gaming doesn't make them crap anymore
Silent hill movie franchised could have been re-booted as well as the gaming franchise
Ker-ching
It better have amazing freaking graphics, a single player story with open-world and cards from the first 4 seasons. Canning SH for this, it better be.
I like Yugioh games, but I know to well where this is going, full payed DLC fest!!!
I know most people would rather have Silent Hills, me included but their Yu-Gi-Oh games on consoles are actually pretty good.
Don't really care how good the games were tho. After MGS5 I'm done with Konami.
I am wondering tho, how many are gonna go back on their word once Konami starts announcing new games.
have not played Yuugi since ps2 "capsole monsters " hope this like original show with Atem,seto,joey.........good ol days.
Wow you nerds are something else. You pledge allegiance to Kojima because he made a game you like over a company that has been making great console and arcade games since the 80's(before Kojima). Need I mention Gradius, Goonies, Blades of Steel, Castlevania, and Double Dribble. WOW! No wonder people make fun of you idiots. If Konami makes a game you like, you prefer to boycott them over a guy you DONT know instead of buy the game you want to play? How more stupid does it get than this. You asshats need a gut check
@Syntax
No, I don't think you get it. It's not so much about sticking with Kojima cause you like his games. I'd turn my back on Konami even if it wasn't Kojima.
Regardless of what happened between them, what Konami did as a business, trying to erase him from the history of his own game is wrong. It's akin to Warner Brothers trying to erase Cameron as the creator of The Terminator or J.K. Rowling's publisher deciding she had nothing to do with Harry Potter. Then they expect him to continue on through the completion of MGS5 so they can still make a profit off of him? I understand not cancelling the game, but why not replace him? Why not wait until the game is complete and he worked his last day on it to do all that nonsense? They could have. Sure Konami's been around a lot longer than Kojima, but the fact still remains they chose to disrespect at every chance they got, probably one of the greatest talents they've ever had working for them.
They are essentially telling all their creative minds that now matter what you've done for us, no matter how far you make it in this company, if we one day decide we don't like you, we can erase your name from any title you've done for us, past, present or future and take your creation for our own.
I would never want to work under those conditions. IMHO that is unethical and I would never want any game developer, console, mobil or otherwise, to work under those conditions.
That's why I no longer support Konami.
Now Kojima on the other hand. Kojima could have very well have said, "you wanna cut me loose? You wanna erase MY name from MY creation? From EVERY game and HOW MANY YEARS OF LABOR from me AND MY TEAM? Well f*** you! I'm walkin' and you can figure out the rest of this s*** on your own."
That's what I would have said. He had every right to, I think. But he didn't. He's being a class act and finishing out the game regardless. I like to think he's doing it for the fans of Metal Gear and not fans of Konami. That's why I support him.
Why are people responding to me that they don't support Konami? That has nothing to do with what I said. All I said was their Yu-Gi-Oh games are good.
"Oh great we get this amazing Yu-Gi-Oh instead of that crappy silent hills game, thanks soooo much Konami. Can anyone sense my sarcasm?"
His comment is implying that Yu-Gi-Oh is a bad game but its not but then again most of N4G doesn't play games.
It's so sad how many people lack common sense on this website that you had to resort to pointing out your own sarcasm, otherwise your comment would be OVERLOADED with "Disagrees" lol
I never cared for Yu-Gi-Oh or Silent Hill very much. Konami was great back when they were making games for the Genesis and SNES. Even on the PS1 they had some decent games, but I haven't been overly impressed with their games this generation.
If gaming isnt making Konami money, then why are other devs still making games? Even indie game devs still making games?
Is Yu-Gi-Oh even alive? I haven't heard or saw anything about YGO since I was in middle school over 10 years ago....I'm pretty sure it's deader than Digimon outside of Japan.
Good going Konami, way to fail again.
I think I saw an ad online for a new one but I haven't watched the show in probably 10 years either. Last stuff I remember were the god cards.
That's the last thing I remember. The God Cards, that god-awful movie then nothing. No toys in stores, and the cards disappeared from stores and everyone I know threw them out because they had no value. Even a few days ago I was looking at the TCG section for new Magic and Pokemon cards and besides Baseball cards those two were all there was.
There is a large following in South Florida. I still see the cards in target.
Last I remember they were running around and dueling on motorbikes, idk what happened.
It is still very much alive, the tournament scene still hands out big prizes but it's not as popular as it once was because kids no longer play it and it's only mostly the hardcore fans now. Although it's not as big as MTG (at it's peak it was bigger than MTG) people still play it more than pokemon and a lot of people have stwitched over to playing online through duelingnetwork and YGOPro.
Leave Digimon out of this and sure as hell don't compare it to Yu-Gi-Oh. Never liked Yu-Gi-Oh.
Actually it's more relevant than Digimon due to the card game, but yeah the TV shows have gone down for some time, good thing the handheld game were decent.
I always found it funny how they still called it Yu-Gi-Oh despite the fact in the newer shows Yugi Mutou never appears. I mean the show is kind of named after him in a way.
Imagine a newer Pokemon series without Ash Ketchum, only thing which put me off the newer series for that was the new voice actors (which suck) and the fact they keep changing companions. Nothing wrong with Brock and Misty.
the last YuGiOh games was on 3DS I believe and of course they have a anime currently running now.
Still alive and going strong across the globe. In fact, it got more popular now since the introduction of Dueling Network and Devpro.
Been wanting a new card game to play. I will probably get it. Was thinking about getting the newest PS3 one but I read that a lot of the good cards were locked in the DLC packs. I won't be getting it if they do that again though.
No. Not at all.
Since when has YuGiOh been the same caliber of what Silent Hills was going to be. You were probably looking at at least 10x the budget.
YAY! I actually want a Yu-Gi-Oh card game to play with friends lol. this will be interesting
U can play it for free at Dueling Network or download Devpro for PC. They update weekly with the latest cards from Japan.
Fuck Yes, oh wait I just hope it doesnt add the Pendulum Summon and Xyz summon, Shaddol, Nekroz built-in decks, :P Cus those archetypes are just cheap as fuck and archetype decks are what people play with nowadays :p
I remember back in the day people had some Creativity in their decks, and now its just archtype built decks which whatsoever requires no strategy
I swear Konami and Kojima are super trolling and are somehow going to weave it all into some sort of marketing gimmick related to the Phantom Pain
great game, but i guess i rather play this on a tablet. vita version would be pretty cool as well. i loved the gba versions back then.
i guess 2 people im a room with hololens and ar could make it seem like the anime which would be very cool.
i know its a totally different game, but didnt konami make the ar card game for ps3 launch? that had ar cards but it was a pretty cool idea back then.
Better be Duelist of the roses 2 cause most of the console YGO games were pretty bland. The DS games were great since it was on a portable and the last good one I played was the 5Ds Stardust one.
Though...Why?
Didn't they just say they were going to focus on mobile?
They killed of Silent Hills because of that, and yet they're coming out with this? I know it's a DLG <downloadable game>, but it's on the consoles they said they don't want to support anymore.
Cancel p.t aka silent hills. Total screw over Kojima, aka metal gear solid. Bringsus bloody yu gi oh. Wtf, this still exists?
I can imagine Konami making a FTP Metal Gear Solid card game after this.
P.S I liked Acid BTW but I'm pretty sure Konami would ruin it.
Eh, will have to wait and see. The games have never been great or memorable aside from some of the Ps2 ones and maybe Forbidden Memories. Hopefully they don't nickel and dime like the phone games do, since they're apparently primarily a mobile developer now.
That includes not taking away cards you unlocked already just to make packs you have to buy with real money even if you already unlocked them to use them again(whatever their last game on ps3 was, they did that, scumbags)
Wasn't much of a handheld guy, much less a avid yugioh player, so can't comment on those.
But considering the article mentions ps4/xbone only, it's fair to compare strictly dedicated console releases.
Even though I would rather have a new silent hill game, I wouldn't mind a new yugioh game on ps4...I don't have th e slightest clue about the show but I always enjoyed building different decks and dueling other people..would be great if we could get both
Holy crap Konami what is it gonna take you to implement AR and YuGiOh together. like if implemented correctly, you can be so damn sure you'll be making money, but uh it seems like u only care for mobile gaming and not have a damn care for money, i have quite few ideas on how it could work, but sadly i do not know how to use or Code computer language :( if i did, I would be working as a game dev by now
while it sucks about silent hill, i would love to see more tcg games on consoles.
But now you use real money to gett cards, by the way we gave you a deck that can't win.
By the way, card effects my not work the way they are worded.
Good but what about Vita?! Damn you! Just translate and release the Japan one!
If Konami were smart they'd bring Yu-gi-oh to Vita in similar fashion as Pokemon on 3DS and partner big time with Sony, but this is Konami we are talking about.... no common sense to be found anywhere at that company.
Hahahaahhhahh what a troll from Konami ahahahaahahaahahhhh, OMG really? Slap me, i need to wake up.
Given the last two PS3/360 games were garbage, I can't help but think an upcoming PS4/XB1 game will be too.
Just make a new Tag Force for Vita already.
Well, maybe this will be fun, but not as fun as Silent Hills would have been, scary fun is better than Yu-Gi-Oh.
Cancel Silent Hills, but give a new Yugioh. After all, they thought unbanning Raigeki was a bright idea. So their decisions don't shock me anymore.
I remember this when my son was 6 yrs old... je is now 17 . I guess there is a market somewhere, but I am sure people were hoping for many other games besides this
Ironically, this would be the game that WOULD work well on mobile and they decide to release it on console?
This we get, but not Silent Hills? Or Kojima Productions? Or a decent Castlevania? Jeez Konami
Oh, that'll be exploitative free-to-play. They're gonna run their games division the way they run their Pachinko division from now on.
Sweet can't wait.Although some of the new ways of summoning it dumb should have just kept it like the original.
Cool, maybe it will be good, I like some of the Gameboy Advance and DS ones
konami, mgs5 will be the last game sorry :)
Awesome, better than that silent hills game.
