If this remaster is real, that basically confirms what we all knew the real reason for Sony delaying Uncharted 4 was. They're going crazy with these remasters. I doubt Naughty Dog minds the extra dev time though, even if they'll probably be spending it working on DLC for the season pass we all know is coming.

Cut the crap. This remaster makes all the sense in the world. Many ps4 owners today never owned the ps3 so they never played any of the uncharted games. This will give them a chance to experience one of the best franchises in gaming. The reason for the uncharted 4 delay was to get the game as polished as possible.

Remasters, if anything, should be used to mitigate the costs of investing into either the long running series it's part of, or as quick cash for a new IP from the company.
Instead it is nothing more than a cash grab, and companies are using it more and more to make a buck, all the while investing less and less in new IP.

I'm happy that the indie scene has blown up in the way it did, because that's where core gamers are going to find most of their new interesting experiences not too far down the road. AAA industry is moving in only negative directions, as far as I am concerned.

But all these remasters aren't even proper remasters. One, all of these games are recent games be rereleased. they don't look bad as is. and 2 what annoys me is the only treatment they receive is upscaled and added frames. Maybe a little touch of antialiasing but that's it. The gains so far is minimal at best.

If i was in charge of remasters i would be looking at fully remastering PS1 games and maybe PS2 with brand new base models and textures and lighting as if its a new game. fixing camera angles or controls if needed PS3 stuff is way too recent and the gain is barely noticeable. That is why i haven't bought the new consoles yet. There is not enough focus on new games as their was in the early PS3/360 life. Tons of good gems there

The Last of Us was not a "lazy copy/paste". They improved texture sizes, added more graphical effects, extra features like photomode, dev commentary, etc.

The shadow quality was IMPROVED from the PS3 version. Even at 60 fps the shadow quality is doubled from the PS3 version, at the 30 fps setting the shadow quality is 4x the PS3 version. Either way is an upgrade. You are wrong.

TLOU was an excellent remake and game, and you blindly hate and lie about it only because it is a Sony exclusive. Sad.

Sure you can stream the games via PSnow but playing it off your PS4 at 1080P 60FPS is much better than streaming it. So its understandable why some people would prefer a digital/physical collection. Plus there's the fact that PSnow isn't available everywhere plus not everyone has a good enough internet connection to stream games well.

They could still do both, have another team do the port, ND do Uncharted 4, hell a part of ND can do the port and then the other part...still do Uncharted 4.

The game suffered from two big problems: they'd killed the protagonist last game and replaced him with a character we barely got to know in said game, and the ending feels extremely lackluster. I enjoyed it right up until then, but once that final mission was done and the Chimera ships were just falling from the sky... idk, I was expecting more.

I still like the game, but there was room for improvement. Keep hoping we might get a 4th just to wrap it all up properly.

Resistance Fall of Men remastered would be the only remastered game I would buy and the only game that would make me pay for online play on the PS4 or in any other console. This is a bit of a joke of a generation for Sony.

The PS3 was such an innovative, costly thing for them. Developing the Cell, Bluray, agreeing to free online play and including far more than the money's worth if you did decide to get Playstation Plus.

As soon as Mark Cerny said that the PS4 was about getting back to the immediacy of the PS1's programming, all was lost, innovation-wise. People got swept away on the tech being easier to program for and the launch pricepoint.

A version 2 of Cell would have probably blown everyone away more than merely slicker PC-like graphics. But it would have been costlier and difficult for third party developers, not a risk that Sony wanted to take again.

For Sony, this generation is primarily about making money, making up what they thought they were owed for all the hard work on the PS3.

Naughty Dog released 4 brand new AAA games on PS3 last generation - 3 of them Uncharted and The Last of Us.
With time spent on creating remasters, they'll be lucky to have time to release 2 new AAA games on PS4.

The PS4 is in the slipstream of the PS3 and, unless virtual reality can prove otherwise, not much more.

It's incredible that the WiiU is the most interesting console of the generation.

Cell was hurting Sony more then helping as it hurt many Unreal 3 games, many games didn't come to PS3 due to the confusing nature of the Cell. x86 is only helping Sony and MS right now as to why you even see fast ports, fast development and even self publishing and indie titles being announced almost every single day.

We all know that Sony originally lost money on the Cell, but if you think at this point they're still losing money on the PS3 and the Plus memberships being sold, you're dead wrong. They've recouped that money, and certainly aren't using the PS4 to "make up for lost cash last generation' as we see some of the most promising and intuitive games yet to come, but we know they're there.

The main thing you were wrong on, is the whole Naughty Dog business. They have MORE THAN ONE TEAM creating games. The Last of Us was being worked on while Uncharted 3 was being made. Uncharted 4 was being worked on while The Last of Us was made. Just like I'm sure either a team at Naughty Dog or the developers who made the Vita Uncharted game will be remastering these 3. If you seriously think the people who make 6 figures a year and make some of the largest franchises for Sony are all sitting around slapping 1080p/60fps on half a decade old games, you're just plain wrong.

I love the fact that some people believe that when a company announces a remaster. They think that is all they are working on. When in fact it is far from the truth.

Do people honestly believe that each developer only has one team? No they don't they have more than one. Like Naughty Dog in the past year they most likely had 1 big team working on Uncharted 4. Another working on The Last Of Us Remastered and another working on this Remaster collection. Once Last of Us was done that team probably moved on to help with Uncharted 4 or the Uncharted collection.

Same with the likes of From Software. In the past year or 2 they most likely had a large team working alongside Sony Japan on Bloodborne and another team working on Dark Souls 2.

Come to think of it. It seems it is the PC guys who get the bigger kick in the knackers. I mean they pay what £300 on a single GPU then about £200 on a i7 CPU ect just so they can play a 10 year old remaster of a GameCube game. Or better yet a "Remaster" of a 2 year old game such as Metro 2033 or Metro Last Light.

I have said this before and I will say it again. If you don't like remastered games. Simply do not buy them. I get that it's logical to assume that Uncharted 4 was delayed purely for this reason but maybe and I'd like to think they just wanted to take the extra care time and attention to what is arguably one of the most anticipated games over the next 12 months or so and as you can see by the title it's the 4th main entry (5th if include Vita) but 5 games in a a space of nearly 8 years show they don't churn these out like other series and maybe they didn't want to release a product that was broken glitchy unplayable or was just generally gonna be more damaging to the series than good, which more developers took the Nintendo-Rockstar route and delayed games when they need to be delayed sure we hate being told a date for it to change but it's normally for the best... Unless it's Duke Nukem forNever ;)

First of all, Is it not obvious by now that this generation requires more time and money to for that optimal game experience we all long for? Not to mention that a market exists and is indeed responding to these remasters. So let them live.

There are very few 1st party remastered games on PS4. There is The Last of Us, God of War 3, and Uncharted Collection. Sony is not flooding the system with remastered games.

Some upcoming PS4 1st party games: Uncharted 4, The Last of Us 2, God of War 4, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon, and new games from Sucker Punch, Media Molecule, Japan Studio, Guerilla Cambridge, Sony Bend, Sony London, Evolution Studios, and Quantic Dream.

PS4's game library has many great new games already with more upcoming. PS4 is having a great 2015 overall for game launches. It's sad to see posters blindly hating great games for being PS exclusive.
