Uncharted Remastered Trilogy: Good Enough Apology For A Thief's End Delay?

GGG debates whether the rumored Uncharted Trilogy Remaster for PS4 would be an acceptable "gift" to fans after the Uncharted 4 delay or whether other options would be better.

How the hell would it be an apology? Do people think they can knock these out in a month or two? ND (or whoever is making this) will have been working on this for a year or more; well before the delay of Uncharted: A Thief's End. And why apologise anyway? A delay is good for the game, not bad.

To be fair, didn't Nintendo announced Wind Waker HD in like Jan 2013 and developement just started then, meaning it had about a 9-10 month development time? I'm not saying its on the same scale as UC but then again, they had to make new assets for it whereas I imagine UC would just use up-res'd old stuff. Could be a 12-month job, but I dunno.

The Uncharted Collection is bound to happen before Uncharted 4 release. Its logical. Its just common sense. Its not an apology.
Sony understands the collector and completist members of the PlayStation Nation and the millions of non-PS3 PS4 gamers of today and the future who wants to experience past Uncharted games.

Considering all of the textures in Uncharted were originally hd and ported down for the release, it actually shouldn't be that labor intensive to remaster at least in that aspect, throw in the work on TLOU:R and it should be fairly easy for them to brush up the gameplay as well. I'd guess the mp portions would be the toughest but I've never really touched them so it wouldn't bother me if they aren't up to snuff on release. I'm just hoping that they throw in Golden Abyss & a UC4 single player demo…I'd pay full price plus for that collection.

Jesus, I love this entitled world we live in. This is not an apology to fans ....as Gribble points out, something like this takes time to create especially if they are doing all 3 games. Likely they planned to release this originally just ahead of UC4 to pave the way for the story line for PS4 owners who haven't played it before. but once UC4 got delayed it took on a bigger role for holiday. Also, as Gribble pointed out...delaying to make a better game is not a bad thing assuming the end product is great.

Absolutely agree. Developers should apologize when they release unfinished, glitchy games. Not when they hold it back and spend more time and money making it better for the consumers.

this isn't an apology, it is a well marketed plan to get consumers to buy the same games again. it also allows them to fully exploit that time slot which is the busiest time of the season to maximize exposure while uncharted 4 is free for next year during the so called slow time. it's probably easier to sell something huge like uncharted 4 during the slow time than it is a remastered collection.

if the remaster is real and if it does ship when uncharted 4 was supposed to come out it just proves the delay was intentional.

He's probably referring to the online multiplayer being broken at launch. That's why Naughty Dog released the two new DLC maps for TLOU: Remastered for free as an apology, they were originally going to charge for them but since the game launched broken they gave them away for free to make up for it.

Not the online portion,it was a character model stutter while aiming with Ellie,in the main story i still had Joel in Left behind however it never stopped.Search that complaint is still under review since last September.

It should be made by another company if true. But giving the sizes of the original games, how are they going to fit all that plus extra gigs needed for higher resolution,textures,...etc..on a single disc? Even if they use multiple discs, all the data also need to be install in the internal HDD. Don't make sense to me.

Uncharted 3 was like 44gigs by itself. I think this rumor is bogus. It also conflict with Sony trying to use Uncharted as a headlining franchise for their new PSN Now subscription. Releasing a HD remake would cannibalize sales.

I'd like them to find a way to get Golden Abyss, Eye of Indrah, Drake's Trail, and The Fourth Labyrinth in somehow, in some form, alongside a reprint of the comics/book (maybe as preorder bonus). Having the entire story available in one Collector's Edition set would be awesome alongside the upcoming Uncharted 4.

I'm pissed that Sony lied to us about UC4 coming this Holiday when they KNEW they were releasing the remaster and delaying UC4. For the past year they've been saying this Holiday. Hell, even the PSX footage talked about Holiday 2015.

Again, the question is, when did they ORIGINALLY plan to put out the remaster? Cause people here are talking about UC4 not being rushed. If UC4 was on schedule, then the remaster comes when? Is the remaster rushed now?

I'm not a huge fan of remasters but Uncharted 2 and Red Dead Redemption were probably the 2 best games of the last generation. Now we just need a Red Dead remaster, or a Red Dead 3 announce :)
