Top 5 PS4 Exclusive Indie Games We Can't Wait to Hear More About at E3 2015

OnlySP: In the lead up to the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Sony did a number of great initiatives, one being engaging numerous indie developers and advertising them as not just a side project of consoles, but one of the main reasons to own a PS4. Even after the release of the PS4, Sony has shown their commitment to the indie scene and established themselves as the indie box (a term which has good and bad connotations), a place for not only for AAA experiences, but for interesting and unique games from independent developers.

rime for sure will be great

Wingsfan243255d ago

It's an interesting game for sure.

Wingsfan243255d ago

Man, I just finished Alien: Isolation the other day...not sure I can handle another experience like that so soon lol. Really looking forward to SOMA though so I might have to just buckle my seatbelt and "enjoy" the ride.

Neonridr3255d ago

can't wait for SOMA. Amnesia was one of my favorite "scary games".

MasterCornholio3255d ago

Ooo Indies.

My list

1. The Witness
2. No Mans Sky
3. Hellblade
4. Wild
5. Ryme

Rimeskeem3255d ago

1) is are Hellblade and WiLD indies?
2) Rime*

_-EDMIX-_3255d ago

Hellblade is being self published and Ninja Theory owns the IP, I believe that is what an indie is ie independent in its creation, no publisher other then themselves has any influence on that title.

WiLD may not be seen as an indie as Sony is publishing it, (news to me), thus clearly it doesn't just have a independence to do what evers lol, its has a publisher that might dictate certain things.

Same with Rime and even Everyone Gone To Rapture (maybe more so with Everyone's Gone To Rapture as Sony is publishing and owns the IP)

http://us.playstation.com/p...

and

https://www.playstation.com...

I mean they may have started out independent in concept and maybe thats enough for some to consider them still independent in some respect. (as a game concept anyway).

Ie if we made a game about flying in space and Sony now wants to publish or buy the ip, I feel in some regard the first game can still be called indie as its concept was birthed from an independent entity as suppose to a publisher coming in and saying "we need space game...bring us space game" lol.

But you bring up a great point. Indie means independent and being owned, published or the IP not being owned by the team etc would clearly mean its not independent in some regard. Its been up for debate for some time among gamers as to what that actually means, I tend to lean on the "is it owned, being published" concept.

No Man's Sky not exclusive

MasterCornholio3255d ago

Its console exclusive though.

Rimgal3255d ago

Everybody’s gone to the Rapture is not an indie game. Is being founded by Sony, co produce by Sony Santa Monica, and Sony owns the IP.

Wingsfan243255d ago

Developed by The Chinese Room, who is an independent studio. SSM is providing support for it, like they did with many other indie titles.

Rimgal3255d ago

Just like SSM supported Ready at Dawn with The Order, and Sony Japan supported From Software with Bloodborne.

Do you consider those games to be Indie as well?

Sony owns and founded those IPs, therefore they are not Indie games.

Wingsfan243255d ago

The IP may be owned by Sony, but it is being developed by an independent studio, which is The Chinese Room. They partnered with Sony, therefore they are not owned by Sony.

No need to be snotty with the rhetoric there.

Rimgal3255d ago

Just like The Order 1886 was developed by Ready at Dawn, which is an independent studio.

From Software is also an Independent studio. So by your logic Bloodborne is an indie game.

And by your logic we can even go further. Insomniac is an independent studio as well. So by your logic Sunset Overdrive is an indie game.

Everybody’s gone to the Rapture is owned by Sony, and fully paid by them. It's not an indie game, and not even close to it.

my list:
Rime
WiLD
The Forest
No Man's Sky
Starbound
Vanishing of Ethan Carter

MasterCornholio3255d ago

But they are console exclusives right?

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.

Yui_Suzumiya324d ago

Island, Steins;Gate Elite and Soma.

MadLad324d ago

Soma is an epic experience.

jznrpg324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

Does ISLAND have English subs ? I can’t find a copy that says it has English subs for PS only the Switch version which I rather not buy .

Love Steins Gate and Soma

shinoff2183324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

FRom what i could find. Nothing with English subs.

Yui_Suzumiya323d ago

I own a physical copy on Switch and it does have English subtitles so it's all good on Switch and Playstation.

Yui_Suzumiya323d ago (Edited 323d ago )

My bad. Steam and Switch have English but PS4 and Vita only have Japanese. Sony doesn't mess with many visual novels which is why I only own a Switch OLED and laptop for all my games.

A lot of my favourites are on this list so I whole heartedly approve.
Everything except The Observer. It started out really interesting but quickly unraveled into a train wreck. Including frustratingly dull dives into mind sequences, They neutered the monster with boring on rail stealth sequences and a laughably obvious and cringeworthy ending. Mix in bugs and some wonky controls to boot.
I had really strong impressions with it to start but ended up absolutely hating it.

isarai533d ago

I got 2-3hrs in and couldn't take it anymore, the constant need to switch between the 3 visions just became so annoying and honestly just unnecessary.

monkey602533d ago

I actually agree. At first I thought it was a great idea because the game wasn't holding your hand with the Detective work but it was so unintuitive too. It became a sequence of staring at everything for long enough in 3 different vision modes just to see what stuck.

Yui_Suzumiya533d ago

Soma would be more existential horror than anything but I'll be damned if it didn't have one of the best stories in game that I've experienced. Blew my mind.
