Not being funny but if it's 'pretty good already', that implies that it's still being worked on...so released product isn't finished?
I'm all for patching in bug fixes that weren't uncovered in testing but tuning and development of a base product shouldn't be an ongoing cycle in my view...

VER1ON3255d ago

They are talking about further tweaking performance. Not unusual in recent titles. Apparently the PS4 version performs somewhat better on the PS4 compared the XO version and the team made some improvements on the Xbox One that the PS4 also benefits from (a little). I wonder though how much DX12 will affect performance on the Xbox One.

"I'm all for patching in bug fixes that weren't uncovered in testing but tuning and development of a base product shouldn't be an ongoing cycle in my view..."

Wait, what ?

Why shouldn't they continue to improve the base product and tweak it after release ? Why shouldn't they continue to optimize performance and such ?

sizeofyou3255d ago

Basically because i want to buy a finished product. I may as well have it from day one of development and hope that it turns out ok when they finally say '...we don't support this anymore' if what's released wasn't the intended target for the project. How early are planning on buying software in the future? May as well sell Betas for everything going forward.
Just my opinion...

Lamboomington3255d ago (Edited 3255d ago )

@sizeofyou

Well, we all want a finished product. This can be said for any game though. Even TW3 can be considered incomplete because it has some performance problems on consoles for that matter.

You have to release your game at some point. Devs could keep working on their games if they really wanted to, to make everything perfect.

pCars was, for all intents and purposes, a finished product. Unfortunately it did have a few too many bugs with it, and performance issues. So now the dev is patching and improving those things. pCars was delayed for soooo long already. They had to release it sometime.

Ultimately its a matter of opinion. If the issues you're experiencing significantly take away from the game, you could call it unfinished.

sizeofyou3254d ago

Yep. S'ppose. I don't disagree that ongoing support and improvement aren't good. And kinda playing devils advocate!

It's all degrees of completeness and subjective. I know games are more complex and i know that they're harder to test. But games that don't need tweaking are few and far between these days. Seems some games get slaughtered and some get away with a drip of progressive updates.
And generally it comes down to money. Does the publisher release or delay...

But yes...you're right. I shouldn't complain at support. But i do complain at unfinished.
You win. Kind of... ;)

LostDjinn3255d ago

No, funny would be what's being said in the first 2 posts on that forum link that's used.

All platforms are receiving future patches for performance. An "insider" is claiming only the xbone will. Funny that BS is being employed as the tool of choice by one group yet again. It's also funny that this is more proof of said propaganda with yet another game that nobody will report on.

They say nobody does anything for nothing. So why won't games "journalists" report on something that is right in front of them? The proof is right there.

I screen-grabbed the info in question. Just 'coz...you know. It's not just bloggers that take cash to be less than forthright.

TheCommentator3255d ago

As far as spreading bs goes, both sides of the bread get buttered. All fanboys are irrational but pointing out one group, the way you worded it, makes it sound like you don't believe that others do it too. As you said though, it is funny that people can be blinded by their passion for something to the point that they ignore the obvious when they argue.

LostDjinn3255d ago

Nice attempt at deflection.
A quick glance at your comment history gives you away though.

Keep up the good work (I hope you're getting paid for it).

WickedLester3255d ago

I'm so tired of hearing about DX12. I wish it would just be made available already so everyone would shut up about it.

Lennoxb633255d ago

I'm so tired of people saying they're tired of hearing about DX12.

Khajiit863255d ago

Im so tired of people saying theyre tired of people saying theyre tired of hearing about DX12.

yarbie10003255d ago

Usually if i'm tired of hearing about something like Kim Kardashian or Bieber or whats happening in a popular show that I don't watch or care about....I usually don't go clicking on stories about those subjects. Really great how easy the internet works and how you don't have to read something if you don't want to

TheCommentator3255d ago

Why are you here then?

I'm so tired of getting burned when I put my hand in the fire. Well thank you, Captain Obvious.

IamTylerDurden13255d ago

So it performs better on PS4 and with dx12 the xbone version will improve and likely run as well as the PS4 version, amazing accomplishment.

IamTylerDurden13255d ago

Theoretically it sounds like this is true. Such nonsense with dx12 ask the Witcher devs. A lot of dough must be coming in to spread this dx12 propaganda. Sure dx12 is a good thing and it'll help improve upcoming games in the same way a really good patch improves a game. It won't suddenly made the hardware different, the hardware is the key and it's what u can do with it. U can't make a hen lay diamonds.

VER1ON3255d ago

Valid point there m8. I believe it was Phil Spencer himself who confirmed that the Xbox One will benefit somewhat from DX12 but not as much as people are expecting.

uth113255d ago

If DX12 puts XB1 on parity with PS4, then it would show that PS4 has some more optimization potential

endi1233255d ago

Phil also said if the game is made in dx12 not updated to dx12 then we will see some noticeable improvements, witcher dev said if the game would be updated in dx12 it wouldn't have a major impact

sold my copy last night, broken mess of a game

Why did EA Kill Project CARS?

This video explains why we think Electronic Arts didn't see a future in the sim racing title Project CARS and promptly cancelled the fourth instalment.

Jin_Sakai528d ago

After the last installment I’d say most hardcore fans left. It’s just not that good anymore so I can’t really blame EA this time.

masterfox528d ago

because it was always a project and it never got finished :D

ChubbyBlade526d ago

Every game is a project. Your joke doesn’t make sense

InUrFoxHole526d ago

It makes perfect sense. It's obviously a play on the title. Jesus christ you must be a blast at parties.

ApocalypseShadow527d ago (Edited 527d ago )

Ask Bullfrog or Black Box or Tiburon or Studio 33 or Criterion or any of the previously acquired developers who made racing games as competition, or as developers of EA games, then eventually dissolved into oblivion or reassigned. Just ask them. They'll tell you why.

ApocalypseShadow526d ago

Oh. I forgot. Even Code Masters were absorbed into Criterion. Another racing developer EA took over.

Every racing developer either absorbed by EA or eventually destroyed by them. They either kill competition or have them in the end make Need 4 Speed for them.

MadLad527d ago

EA only cancels projects for one reason.
They didn't see enough money in it.

Kombatologist526d ago (Edited 526d ago )

Not when it's because it didn't meet some crazy margin. It's like if something doesn't make EA a billion dollars on day one (I'm exaggerating that figure of course), they swiftly put it out to pasture.

SurgicalMenace526d ago (Edited 526d ago )

Much like if you're spending money on what's a bad investment for your desired goals, you'd do away with it, if you're wise. We should try to get away from thinking we know more about business than individuals that have been doing it for decades. Perhaps you could benefit from going into business instead of wasting all of your talents in comment sections. It's clear that you're the missing piece that EA's been looking for.

MadLad526d ago

I've made a good amount of money betting on underdog investments over the years.

EA sets unrealistic expectations of their more niche developers, yet continue to fund absolute blunders like DICE and the Battlefield series year after year.

dumahim527d ago

EA butted in and messed with the formula and act shocked when it doesn't work out.

Original Project CARS creator trying to re-hire EA team

Ian Bell, the founder of Slightly Mad Studios, is aiming to hire former Project CARS employees to work on his upcoming GTR Revival project.

Sgt_Slaughter530d ago

If it's just going to be another sim-cade that doesn't do either one correctly then no thanks.

Project CARS 2 was a step in the right direction but the physics still aren't where they should have been, so what did they do for PC3? Go completely arcade. That killed the franchise.
