PSXE has stumbled across a terrible bug that essentially forces you to start the game over. No way to fix it, but you might take a precautionary measure.

i don't even getting pass the intro loading bug to play this game, just throw it to my backlog now and will try it again when the new patch go live

PS: it's PS4 version and this is my first game of CDPR studio, going to take note at that one and never get thier game day 1 again, sadly

Rob_Ko3251d ago

You mean the endless loading? I had that one too, the fix was to restart ps4, it works fine since then.

Sharius3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

yes that one, it's take me 1 day just tried to find the way to fix it but nothing work, so i gave up

uptownsoul3251d ago

Thats why I always create multiple saves in these open world games that allow for instant manual saves. Always allow yourself to pick up from a recent save point

nveenio3251d ago

Are these bugs you all mention for PS4? I haven't had any on PC. (Not saying PC is better, just that my experience with the game has been bug free so far.)

RedDevils3251d ago

@inveni0 Ps4 here don't have any bug playing the game perfectly :)

gatormatt803251d ago

What's interesting is CDPR said they thought about implementing an "Insanity" mode where when the player dies their save data gets deleted.

I would say delete and re-install the game. Shouldn't be hitting a bug that makes you not even able to begin the game.

Pastorfuzz3251d ago

I am playing the disc version on the PS4 and it's not so bad. A friend of mine downloaded his and he says he has run into many problems

ChronoJoe3250d ago

I've run into a lot of problems with the disc based version (I don't think it matters if it's disc based or not, they both run the same lines of code at the end of the day).

No game breaking bugs for me, but once the game crashed while playing gwent, on other occasions animations have glitched out, not displaying what they're supposed to. I had some cutscenes where characters would not be present in scene at the correct time, not have their textures, and sometimes slide across the floor without animation.

Lots of little things that don't break the game, but do break immersion somewhat.

Wii_nes_0073251d ago

My Ps4 copy is so laggy and studders so bad that its unplayable. I got 30 minutes and had to stop. I too put my game in backlog until/if they fix it. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Snookies123251d ago

That's weird, mine runs perfectly. Been playing for 20 hours on the PS4 version. Haven't run into any lag or stuttering outside of some cut scenes.

iistuii3251d ago

yeah it is rather laggy but its not unplayable. But remember the people who say its smooth are either in denial or just not bothered. Even the likes of Digital Foundry & even the dev's themselves have said its got issues, thats why theres a patch on the way.

poor_cus_of_games3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

You still flogging that same old dead horse. My copy is running perfectly. Same as all my friends copies. Your ps4 (if you have one) is clearly broken. Or you haven't downloaded the patch. Or clean the disc.

d0x3603251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

Nice try bud but that "lag" is you stopping pushing the stick. Its pretty damn obvious since the water is still moving at the same pace the entire video as are any trees you can see

ChronoJoe3250d ago (Edited 3250d ago )

Same for everyone I think, it's not actually lagging there it's the way the camera moves. Notice how the boy running in the background doesn't stutter, despite the camera stuttering as if it were dropping frames.

Turn your camera sensitivity down, and it makes it a lot better.

Not a single issue on PC except one desktop crash which was likely my fault. It was the second time I booted the game and I overclocked my 290x to see how far I could push it. I boosted the core clock by 500mhz and the memory clock by 500mhz. I started playing, did a quest, paused and when I came back the game was gone. No issues at all since.

Best off all since I'm playing on a 6 core i7@ 4.4ghz and a pcie SSD the game loads in about 15-20 seconds. Fantastic.

As for this article the guy starts off by saying the game should have been delayed to fix the bug he's talking about. A bug he even admits no other person online has mentioned even once. Chances are there was no bug and it was user error.

Yes delay a game for a bug experienced by 1 out of a million players a week after launch...how did you not find this bug in testing!?

Seriously... Out of every game launched in the last YEAR witcher 3 is by far the most stable and bug free of them all. Bravo to the dev team. No game is ever going to launch bug free, they are just too complex and no amount of in house testing will find what 500k users can find in a week. Thats called reality. If you want bigger and bigger games that dont cost $100 then you are going to need to deal with some bugs at launch

ChronoJoe3250d ago (Edited 3250d ago )

Hm, multiple friends of mine playing on the PC version seem to be encountering very similar bugs to the console iterations. Obviously their performance is better (rig dependent) but still reporting occasional crashes and lots of buggy animations.

In my play through on PS4 so far there have been many issues like this. People in states that they shouldn't be in I.e what the guy says about people being sat down doing nothing but if you talk to them they respond as if they're in a fight.

I've also had my horse become invisible except for his tail many times which is irritating when you're trying to escape but can't find your horse properly. Also all fire within the game being invisible which generally leads to me getting hurt or dying because I didn't notice it was there.

With all these problems though at least in my play through it seems to have broken the game because if you load an old save the problem is still there & won't go away. But if you shutdown the game & reload it, it seems to fix it. At least it has for me so far anyway.

Dfooster3251d ago

Tip: The rest of the horse is in front of the tail

nix3251d ago

Tip 2: If there's smoke, there's fire.

1nsomniac3251d ago

It's finding the tail amongst all the trees that becomes the problem. Also it's the whole fire effect that becomes invisible fire & smoke. The illumination is still usually there though which helps if it's already a dimly lit area.

nix3251d ago

1nsomniac, we were being sarcastic there.

Vegamyster3251d ago

"I think we all have to accept that CD Projekt Red's game is simply too unstable and probably wasn't ready to launch."

Currently 16 hours in and haven't had any issues, the only bug i had was calling my horse and he popped up inside someones house lol.

SunnyZ3251d ago

LOL!

Yeah I must have accidentally hit the call horse button and he ended up stranded inside the cave I was in.

Tried to ride him, be he refused to leave his little island as he was surrounded by water.

SunnyZ3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

Have not encountered a single bug yet on PC.

Well, the only major bug is my misses.
Keeps bugging me to get off the comp.

Go away you bug, I'm playing The Witcher!

Snappy3251d ago

Funny i have being playing it since release day level 8 at the moment and no problems. Might wanna try reseting ps4.

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave11d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan11d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

King of Fighters 94

Street Fighter 2
Resident Evil 1

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name34d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno34d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno34d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure34d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
