EA “Extremely Pleased” With EA Access on Xbox One; Will Start Promoting With Microsoft this Summer

During the quarterly Electronic Arts financial conference call, the publisher talked about the performance of the EA Access subscription service on Xbox One.

EA access is doing so well most likely because it is an amazing service. For $2.50/month ($30/year) you get:
-10% off all DLC and digitap game purchases
-games added to the vault, many only about 6 months later
-Early access to all EA games including Star wars, Mirrors edge, etc. Which give you full access to the game for a set amount of time. (usually 6+ hours)

It is a no-brainer for me.

They do the MP as a way to drive dlc & extras since games like BF and sports franchises get limited if your not staying up to date with the rest of the player base. I have Access too, and I like it, but I think that's why they haven't pushed to many single player games in the vault......maybe when they get older though

Of course not! Single player games have a longer lifespan. The point in EA access is to give access to outdated games ( eg previous year sport games) with a shitload of DLC at full price.

You never stop to pay for games you already have bought or games you never wanted to play in the first place.

With EA you pay for a demo which was free years back...

And c'mon 10% off? If you are not dumb enough you buy your games on mexican/ hong kong store.

But kuddo for EA to make us feel like it's a great deal.

That is not at all true.

EA Access IS a great deal. You get a discount on new games, as well as dlc. You can drop $5, on a 1-month sub, download and play a new title a week early, and if you want to buy it you get a 10% discount. You install the whole game, not a small chunk of it. There are only time restrictions put on content that can be completed before the allotted early access time is used up. If you buy it, it simply upgrades your license to ownership.

Also, the sports games available in the Vault have single player. So does Battlefield 4, Need for Speed Rivals, and Peggle 2. Ill be thrilled when Dragon Age hits the Vault.

To my knowledge, Peggle 2, and Dragon Age: Inquisition are the only strictly single player games EA has released for either next-gen console so far. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, its not going to bother me. I know there is a multiplayer mode coming to DA:I at some point. EA simply doesn't make many single player only games.

Here's a lil history for you. I dont recall any gamer saying they WANTED DLC, the problem was most devs just all decided to make DLC for their games since last gen because the claim is game dev costs are much higher than previous gens. Still gamers dont want to pay more for their games so DLC was the collective devs/pubs solution. We never asked for DLC but like it or not DLC was never called a good deal and I wish I could say I never bought any but sometimes I had to suck it up because there has been a few select games over the years that I loved so much I thought it was worth the extra cost, that doesnt mean folks are in favor of DLC.

Here EA are allowing you to play MORE games for LESS than their retail price. In theory if more publishers offer a discount subscription similar to EA Access then YES you folks like me will pay more subscription fees to multiple pubs but in the long run I would SAVE because I do NOT have to buy as many retail games while still playing more games.

If EA access becomes a bad deal, people will just end their subscription... No big deal...

But right now it's a great deal. If the games interest you, there's no reason not to subscribe.

As long as it stays like it is, I don't mind it. I can easily handle that other platforms get a week early, but anything more than that, any kind of hiding content behind a paywall and I won't be happy.

Considering it's EA partnered with MS I won't be surprised if "paywalling" becomes part of the eventual future.

I don't know, I already like owning my games first off and though I own PSN Plus and get many free games from them, I still actually buy many games on disk. Only a few EA games I want to own this gen and I want to own them out right vs a fee every year. I don't mind it with PSN Plus as its mainly with games I wouldn't really even buy.

The Vault's games sound great as they stay over time, I just don't want a collection of games that way, not from just one publisher. Some titles I just want to own outright.

I don't even buy certain games as digital, no major releases coming this year am I buying digital only (if I got a choice lol).

It sounds like a good program for those that are fine with digital and the $30 a year. I'm personally just not sold on it is all, I may never be as I choose retail most times

EA Access has been a good value. 30 for a year gets you access to a wide range of games (racing, sports, tps, etc) and discounts on EA downloads.

It's a great option to have. And people who don't like it can still buy those games on their own. Choice is good.

I recommend EA Access. Last week i saw Madden 15 on sale for 24.99. If you add 5 dollars more then you better off getting a year of ea access. More games and a free dlc from Battlefield 4.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the value of it either. There are only 10 games in The Vault? Seriously? And 6 of those are sports games? Okay.

Peggle and PvZ are not exactly blockbusters either. Only 2 that would be of interest to me, which are BF4 and NFS, which incidentally, I already have. So, okay, I could've saved on them, but when I got them there was no EA Access yet.

10% discount, but you have to buy them digitally which means 10% of the full price (full price where I live is €69.99) while I can get the physical games usually for around €45 to €55, even while pre-ordering.

The rather interesting part is the early access, but it's only for 6 hours and you have to buy a digital copy in order to be able to do so.

If they added more games (more non-sports titles and/or titles from EA Partners) it could become interesting *for me*.

If you sell both your games & buy EA Access you get your games back, another 8 on top with more in coming & early access to new releases all for £19-99 a year, which is half the price of one of your games in the UK. How on earth can that be a bad deal.. You also don't have to buy the digital copy of early access. I download the game, play six hours & go buy the cheaper physical copy & carry on playing, it's perfect to see if I want to buy it or not, a lot better than a demo..

10% discount over DLC and season passes is interesting too since there's no other way to buy those than digitally.

But selling my physical games to get digital ones is ehmm, not what I prefer. I rarely buy digital games, I prefer to have physical games, but I do sometimes buy a digital game for ease of use (when they are heavily discounted) even tho I already have the physical game so that still could be useful.

Still, to pay €25 a year to play (early access) demos and get 10% off of DLC doesn't seem like enough to me personally considering I've only bought one EA game (Hardline) this year so far (and will buy Battlefront for sure). Buying the SP for both would've saved me €10 total.

If you like all EA's games, especially the sports games, then this is great value and you will get your money's worth, but I don't think it's for everyone *currently*

Ea access is definitely a good service, but hardly the best. Ive had PS plus since it launch, and I've gotten more than 300 games. That averages out to over 60 games per year, for $50. Even for those that just subscribe, you are looking at potentially getting 5 games every month (2 PS4, 2 PS3, and 1 Vita game). Sometimes games are cross buy so you can get multiple versions of the game too.

On topic:
Options are always good, and I feel Sony should have allowed EA Access on their consoles. Personally I'd be disappointed if I would have subscribed because the games in the vault don't suit me. But I am not the be all end all, and there are tons of Sony gamers that could have benefited from EA Access. I'm glad EA Access is having success on the Xbox One, maybe it will make Sony change their stance and also promote other publishers to release similar OPTIONAL services.

Its only on 1 system, for 1 publisher. No doubt how they are offering it is really good, ie the Vault only adding games, but that isn't a FACT, that is merely what they are saying, its not in some legal writing or anything lol, in the future, they very much could remove titles, as even they stated that can happen.

For EA fans, yes....its a good deal, not for all of gaming. Not all of gaming just plays EA games and imho they are literally the best 3rd party in terms of amazing diversity and great teams.

PSN Plus doesn't do the whole Vault thing, but it offers quality titles on 3 platforms, from any publisher, I recently got a 3rd PS3 and after changing the HDD to a 500GB, I began downloading some of my backlog and I must say, I got PSN Plus just one month before PS4 came out...

The amount of free games I got from then, to now is literally close to 140GB worth! Yakuza 4, Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham Asylum, Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite,Metro Last Light, DmC, Dead Space 3 and the list goes on.

Diverse in genre and publisher and that is merely the PS3, not listing PS4 nor PSP or Vita.

I'm sorry but by default it can't be the "Best" as that just makes no sense. 1 publisher vs many, 1 system vs 3.

I think this is a moot point in relation to what I just said. Besides...last time I checked PSNow doesnt offer discounts or early access/betas to games that are coming out in the future. The two services are nothing alike. Also not everybody is interested in renting old PS3, PS2 and and vita game. I know I would rather spend that money on early access to ME4 starwars and the next titanfall. But thats just me. That what I want. I prefer to play new games, rather than revisit old games that are not even HD remasters. Hence the key differences between PSNow and EA access. One is not better than the other. The two products are simply not relatable. It will be interesting to see how many PS4 owners subscribe to PSNow. See how many share your point of view. How many PSnow games have you rented so far? how are you able to justify the cost and time spent playing PS3 and vita games on PS4 vs you know...playing PS4 games on your PS4? Im all ears, man. Honest questions.

You can get the PHYSICAL copy to KEEP anywhere for less than 15€, at least where I live.

Why should I pay for DEMOS???? Or 10% on digital?? Pay to get discounts??? WTF??? I can get the PHYSICAL copy of these games for the same or less and SELL it when I'm done.
And if getting a game a bit sooner is so important to you I guess you're one of those PRE-ORDER Guys and that to me is just plain wrong. Not to mention playing games before the day one patch, that 95% of them have, is just stupid and makes your EARLY experience worse. Unless you wait for the patch and then why get it early if you're not gonna play it?!

Don't forget this is all just for EA games nothing else and a really SMALL number of games.

PSnow is like netflix, it's there if you want it.
Haven't used it much but my little cousins love it.
It's a very cheap way to get the little ones lots of games when they want.

It's about time XBL & PSN took a leaf out of this & gave us the same amount of next gen games instead of the indie crap they shovel me each month on PS4/X1. £19-99 is an absolute bargain for all these games. I actually sold my B4 for £25 paid £19-99 & got it back with other games included.

What kind of "early" acces is 5 days?? Thats a insult for that price. If they gave you guys at least 2 weeks early access then the EA deal would sound good, but 5 days sounds like desperate gamers. EA knows there are uneducated desperate gamers out there and they are going to fall for this scheme. You do know the game was supposed t release that day anyway... they just moved the releas5 days up for the rest of us 99%... which is BS. Wow. You realize you get games with this service right? For certain people that alone makes it worth it. On top of that you get 10% of new games and DLC you are going to purchase anyway. And then the 5 day early access is really cool because not only do you get it early, but you get to play it for free. If you don't like it it saves you money because you won't purchase it, and if you do like it you can get it for 10% off.

It's a pretty cool service. If you are a big fan of EA games (which you cannot deny, EA has a huge consumer base). I mean $30 a year is nothing.

I can see these types of services being some what tedious if the competition begins to follow suit like Ubisoft (which I wouldn't be surprised if they do), Square Enix, Capcom, etc. But I wouldn't mind it because I can at least pick and choose which company provides me with the games I like the most and subscribe to their services.
