We know that Sucker Punch is working on a new PS4 game, and recently the studio has gone on a quite literal hiring spree, opening five new positions within the studio, and the most interesting thing is that they give quite a few bits of information about the objectives for the new game.

My money is on inFamous 3 but whatever it is, it's probably around 2 years away.

Brotard3275d ago

Wow! That's a lot of new info!!!

@bloodborn wasn't it supposed to be a new ip?

MrSec843275d ago

I don't know about it taking that long for Sucker Punch's next game to come out, Infamous 2 only took 2 years after the 1st one released and it's already been over a year since Second Son released.

Sucker Punch's next game could be out next year.

subtenko3274d ago

Infamous 3 with Online Multiplayer (How & why you ask?) Just like the PlayStation show Powers. Remember at the end of Infamous 1 (or was it two?) there was a lot of 'people' battling? Imagine that being different players.

Idk about yall but that would be fun! DC Universe-lke but more fast paced & action packed with crazy Sucker Punch powers. Remember, Online MP is a mode you can "pick" if you want to.

New IP hopefully and if it's open world don't focus on graphics. We don't play open world game for the pretty graphics. That was there problem with Second Son, gorgeous game, pretty visuals but gameplay and even story wise it was a step back from the other two. Plus it was kind of short aswell, you were up to Augustine in no time.

New IP or if it's inFAMOUS hopefully it's inFAMOUS 3 with Cole and Delsin becoming the Beast. Ending the Beast/Cole trilogy for good because I still don't think John was the real Beast. Delsins power is "Beast" like. Kessler couldn't beat the Beast because he had grown in power after Kessler decided to run away, time had passed and the Beast grew stronger, now to me that seems like Delsin absorbed more powers over time which is why Kessler couldn't defeat him.

Dario_DC3275d ago

Gameplay was really good man, loved the new powers.
Agree on the story thou...
Don't think the graphics had to do anything with that.
Still the First Light dlc made up for the story bit :)
I think it's a new IP coming, Sony isn't afraid to try new things.

Rimeskeem3275d ago

I agree with the story by I though they nailed the gameplay in SS

I just felt it didn't have a lot of variations in the powers MOVE SETS, not the powers themselves. It gave you the illusion you did though because you were like "OMG so many powers, so many moves" but most of them were just re-skinned to fit that powers overall style. The only main difference for me was the way you got around the map but I'd rather unlock different ways to get around within the same power so I don't need to keep switching.

Most of the main missions in Second Son were to unlock new moves for newly gained powers despite the fact he should already know how to do most of them since they are done the same way. Like the standard R1 bolt attack...why does he need to re-learn that. With Cole you only did missions for new moves if they were brand new moves altogether

Least in the other two games, especially inFAMOUS 2 when you got given another power, there were a lot of different moves you could pull off.

Hell in Second Son the concrete power didn't even feel finished,

How about focusing in eye candy graphics and fun, smooth, and great gameplay like Infamous First Light? I'll take both. I never worried about gameplay with their games

oasdada3275d ago (Edited 3275d ago )

I really liked how second son started.. the story tied in with a video game pretty well.. its how it turned towards the end which was a problem.. it made me go what happens next? what power i get next? until Eugine. but after that it all went flat.. i think they couldve put a little more work into it.. and i agree with the monotonous powers.. i really thought that that they wud atleast change the melee like with neon short range but faster attack and e.t.c but it felt more of the same.. and even the upgrades weren't that impressive.. infam2 on the other hand had ticks in all the right boxes. story, gplay, it was a super hero game that made u super but not over powered at the same time!

O.T: i think they should go to their roots and make something like Sly cooper or some other 3d sandbox platformer.. Would really love that!

jznrpg3274d ago

I really liked the game, but it was a launch window game , and it could have been a longer game, with more developed powers and story. It seems they made it smaller to grt the game out on time.

Goes on a hiring spree. Then layoffs in the next year, then n4g twists it because the project has been completed.

guyman3275d ago

*2 years

Well done, you just figured out what happens in the development cycle of a project, genius

Crimzon3274d ago

Weird how you never see mass layoffs at studios that make successful games.

SilentNegotiator3274d ago

I guess Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are all "unsuccessful", then....

SilentNegotiator3274d ago

Welcome to the game development industry.

Hoffmann3275d ago (Edited 3275d ago )

A new IP that would use their experience with the Playstation but would be a 3D platformer that goes back to the 32-128bit era "roots" would be damn awesome. I kinda miss those Spyro or Mario 64 like games.

oasdada3275d ago

wow thats sort of what i wrote! jinx lol

Sucker Punch Productions - Studio Profile | PlayStation

Meet the team at Sucker Punch Productions!

victorMaje245d ago (Edited 245d ago )

Ghost of Tsushima and SP were my 2020 goty & dev of the year.

Starman69243d ago

Christ, ghosts of Tsushima was absolute epic on ps5. Top 5 of all time for me 👍

northpaws244d ago

I need more from the Ghost's legend mode, too addicting but ran out of things to do after a few months, can't get enough of it.

MIDGETonSTILTS17244d ago

This means a new IP reveal is coming, right?

Why else educate the masses on a studio’s branding, if not to show off something that isn’t a sequel?

AdonisIsBeast244d ago

More action adventure titles in development or they actually going to dip their toes in an RPG? Tired of Sony’s formulaic titles

MIDGETonSTILTS17244d ago

I love Sony’s consistent output.

Creating Feudal Japan from Across the Pacific

Ghost of Tsushima is Sucker Punch Productions' most ambitious game to date. It required the GDC team to take on the role of students as they delved into a culture that is not our own.

Rocksteady and Sucker Punch I can do a great action pact Star Wars games. Especially Rocksteady with their great combat system. Great write-up.

MadLad1152d ago

Spiders has proven that they can land the feel of the earlier Bioware games well.
Give them a solid budget, and they'd probably put out something impressive.

Then there's always Obsidian. As far as I'm concerned, despite being rushed thus buggy, I thought their Kotor 2 was a better game to Bioware's original. Especially when you got to play the fan patched version that included a lot of the content they didn't have the chance to implement in the original release.

Tacoboto1152d ago (Edited 1152d ago )

I disagree almost entirely with this article in regards to them being suitable for KOTOR, but would love a Star Wars from each of these devs.
Rocksteady would have a great sandbox filled with easter eggs to respect the lore of the universe, but KOTOR isn't an action brawler. They'd nail a Bounty Hunter game. Kojima would probably pull a Rian Johnson and throw the lore out the window, but if he was to focus on a specific genre I could see you being another Bounty Hunter infiltrating the Sith.

Sucker Punch could easily tackle something akin to Fallen Order mixed with elements of inFamous. Creative Assembly knows claustrophobic tension; I could imagine a side-story of a pilot that crash-lands onto a monster-infested area of a Sith-controlled planet.

Bluepoint would be the only studio of these I'd trust in these to respect the original gameplay systems.

LordoftheCritics1152d ago (Edited 1152d ago )

Yep. None of those devs make deep rpgs.

That was more like, ''I like the games those devs made so let them make KOTOR.''

BlackIceJoe1152d ago

Larian Studios is one of the best RPG developers around, so I could see them making a phenomenal game. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen.

MadLad1152d ago

Not to mention they're going to be working on Baldur's Gate for a good while.
