Activision Support Says 'Stay Tuned' on Call of Duty for Wii U

One Twitter asked the official Activision support account why the ability to link Nintendo Network IDs was on the Call of Duty site if the game wouldn't be hitting Wii U. The response from support? "Stay tuned for more Wii U releases."

yeah I have to agree. If Advanced Warfare skipped the Wii U, I doubt we will see any more CoD titles in the Wii U pipeline. Skylanders? Sure, but Activision has all but given up on Nintendo at this point. At least until the NX rolls along..

I wouldn't say Activision has completely given up on the Wii U. Seeing how the Wii U is getting Guitar Hero Live later this year and I'm sure the next Skylanders game. Also I could see Nintendo announcing Call Of Duty Blops 3 at their E3 Direct.

Either way I wouldn't completely rule this out just yet. I would still have concerns though if Activision/Treyarch decide to once again not support the Wii U version with DLC. IMO that's what killed any momentum for Blops 2 on the Wii U.

I am with you on this. It wasn't supported last time and the new COD doesn't even support last generation system (of which got supported in the last installment).

@iamnsuperman I won't say that it will definitely happen, but there is a good chance. Why? because as last gen gets phased out for good third party publishers want an additional revenue stream to pick up a portion of the slack.

I am not excited for a "Call Of Duty" game, but there is thousands of other people that are. Any third party game on Wii U is always welcomed. Anything is possible, you just have to believe.

I like COD on Wii U. The gamepad makes split screen a thing of the past. Also I have to say the Wii remotes are still great for this type of game.

I hope Wii U does get another COD. IGN even in its reviews of BOPS 2 said the Wii U version was best, because of all the options. I just don't want Activision to make a gimped port.

That tweet doesn't raise possibilities in any form. The guy asked why Nintendo users could link their accounts to the COD website if Activision is not going to release anything for it. Notice how the guy didn't ask for Black Ops III specifically.

So, in the end, Activision's answer is just too vague and it's not worth to comment about it.

Well I played Ghosts on Wii U and I think that is hands down the worse COD I've ever played. I like COD4 on Wii but Ghosts was just so trash on Wii U. I actually thought Ghosts was ok on PS4 though. AW is trash too but not as bad as Ghosts on Wii U.

Why not talk about the REAL reason that COD no longer appears on the Wii U? It's a last-gen console, one that in many cases can't even match the other last gen consoles (360 and PS3), so they'd have to downgrade the current gen versions (XB1 and PS4) heavily to make it work on Wii U.

Instead of always trying to blame the developers, just own up to the fact that the Wii U design is not up to current gen standards (and in some cases, not even up to last gen standards), which is why most other 3rd party devs have skipped it as well.

And that's also why so few gamers have embraced the Wii U, it doesn't offer solid hardware specs that are appropriate for the asking price. If Nintendo reduced the price of the Wii U to $200 for the base console, they might get better sales, but at the current price point it just isn't worth it at all, and even then, only if you're a diehard Nintendo fan who must have all those Nintendo first party games.

You create a fan base on a console ie Activision could market their games being played on wiiu in simple adverts basically build a fan base simple you earn it if Activision want to be on Nintendo consoles going forward they need to start looking like they care they went out their way advertising for 360 last gen and it ended up being the most popular console for COD simple that's how it works....

Why waste money trying to scrape up a COD fan base on the WiiU when they KNOW the fanbase is on the PC, play station and Xbox

At this point, I think I would rather give my money to Devil's Third over CoD.

Make my own maps for multiplayer, nice story for single player, deep customization options and far superior melee combat in addition to good gun play.
I won't be treated like an afterthough just for playing on the Wii U, by choosing Devil's Third over a badly done multiplat port, like CoD Ghosts and BLOPS 2.

Oh, and the third person perspective for a much wider viewpoint around me.
And unlike Splatoon (though I'll still be getting that too), DT will have voice chat.

I agree to Devils Third being a better choice but your drunk if you think BO2 was a crap port it had the high res textures mate and the framerate was far superior I've got the game and it's a mint port end of so personally I'd buy COD if it gets done right...

Not having the option of getting that content, makes it a crap port by default, compared to all other versions.

To those of you who think that horsepower is THE reason for poor support you are (with respect) ill-informed on the subject. Please note that no-one; and I mean NO-ONE has been able to figure out the innards of the system (not even the "experts" on neogaf) and still largely remains a mystery.

The Wii U is engineered to be incredibly efficient and powerful, while sipping on less than 40w of electricity. It has a more modern GPU than those found in the PS3/360 in addition to lots more ram and a 32mb pool of super fast edram. Given it's architectural design, It is in essence, a POWER version of the Xbox One. Theoretical performance does not equal real world performance. The gamecube pulled off stuff the ps2 and og xbox didn't for example even though it's specs on paper could be considered laughable.

The cpu is only 3-core mind you but it's asynchronic which is different than the bog standard synchronic cpu cores found in other systems. It's simply different, and one has to truly take advantage of the cache present in the expresso cores or else performance won't be up to par. Just look at the earliest 3rd party ports on the system (i.e black ops 2 ran off a single core!). Others such as Batman AC ended up with frame-rate issues.

You have to take the time, you have to make the effort. You can't just port over ps3/360 or x86 code because the game will suffer. You have to code to the metal. Period.

So it's not about bits or bytes or flops or whatever. It's about demographics, audience, and install base. The third parties won't take the time to develop a console game on a system with THESE problems and since it's not x86 based with unique architecture that doesn't help matters.

No, there's nothing "magical" about the Wii U at all. Just because it uses less power doesn't mean that it is efficient at hosting good games. That lower power consumption might save you a buck or two a year, but in return you get a system with:

-- Weak CPU
-- Weak GPU
-- A paltry 2gb of RAM, with only 1gb available for games
-- No internal HDD (or even a bay for one)
-- Ancient USB 2.0 ports, when USB 3.0 has been out for over 6 years
-- Oversized, awkward, bulky gamepad with low-res screen and poor battery life
-- No analog triggers on any controllers
-- Not even a simple ethernet port available for a wired Internet connection

It's very clear that Nintendo cut every possible corner on the Wii U base console, just to accommodate the expensive, gimmicky gamepad. This is the main reason that the Wii U simply can't compete with the current generation consoles, much less the last gen ones. Far too few resources were put into the console itself, and the resulting failure of the console is directly Nintendo's fault.

Let's hope that Nintendo's next console is better designed, and not built around questionable gimmicks, otherwise they're done with the home console market for good.

There's nothing magical about the Wii U, and every single point I put up is a FACT. NOTHING you wrote are facts, they are just fanboy fantasies, desperate hopes that Nintendo might have actually made a half-decent product (which they didn't, sadly).

Every point I put up stands and is a fact. The CPU and GPU are weak, internal storage is a joke, many features are either missing (such as an ethernet port, analog triggers, bluray or DVD support) or gimped (weak CPU/GPU, pitiful 2gb of RAM with only 1gb available for games, ancient USB 2.0 ports, cheap gamepad screen and battery, etc.) These base console features were all either left out, or gimped, all to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad gimmick. This is a typical Nintendo approach to gaming hardware, and is done simply to maximize their profits, at the expense of their gaming customers. Nothing more.

You need to stop desperately trying to make excuses for a poorly-designed console. The Wii U is sorely lacking in all areas, making it completely unable to compete this generation. It really can't even match the two last-gen consoles, PS3 and 360.

Maybe for their next console, the NX or whatever they call it, Nintendo will get rid of the cheap gimmicks and actually focus on solid gaming hardware? Nah, I doubt it. I really don't think they know how to design good hardware, anymore.

You insist on trying to strawman. You are entitled to your opinions but they have no basis in fact, it is only conjecture. No, I am not a "console engineer" (miscommunication) but I am in a similar field an know what I'm talking about.

To say something is bad because "reasons" is different to the real issues with the system. Things such as marketing, things such as demographics, consumer interest, word of mouth, interest/disinterest in the software library etc.

The hardware isn't the problem and I've already explained this to an extent. I'm not one of those people that care more about microprocessors than the experience. Even though I'm versed in it.

Nintendo gave people like you what you wanted with the Gamecube, powerful hardware with a bog standard controller and was cheap as heck. Guess what? Nobody bought it. The purple lunchbox right?

There is still some money to be made with 360/PS3, so maybe they have hired a small studio to crank a spinoff on the cheap, and since it's a smaller title, they'll also port it to Wii U.
A bit like they did with the (terrible) World at War spinoff on PS2. Or Ubi with AC Rogue.
