Star Wars Battlefront Looks Cool, But I'm Not Ready To Get Excited

Kotaku:
Star Wars fans are easy marks. It’s one of our kind’s more endearing qualities, even while it tends to leave us vulnerable to being exploited. And we have been exploited, even by, perhaps accidentally, the man who created this universe and brand.

You know what... I know exactly how you feel. I'm afraid to get excited, becasue there is so much that sounds like a step back from Star Wars:Battlefront 2.

Then there's the familiar "It's a GAMEPLAY trailer..." and then what do we get "Rendered gameplay assets." Have we been here before?

The other thing is that I got superhyped for BF4 before release, as well as Watchdogs, and then Assassins Creed Unity, and Evole. Then there was The Order 1886 - my hype levels for that game were through the roof.... then look what happened.

So should I get myself super-hyped for Star Wars Battlefront? Well I don;t have any hype left. My super-hype meter is maxed out for The Witcher 3.

If you really start to break down Battlefront it sounds more and more like BF4 in Star Wars skin.

USMC_POLICE3286d ago

I quite like the order, But see what you mean I am excited they decided to stay with the original trilogy. I do trust dice just not EA. As for the witcher I have no trace of doubt they always surpass my expectations. I'm sure battlefront will be a blast if anything it will be more fun then call of duty 2015.

Step back from battlefront 2??????????????

Where are u basing this information from ,you were told by the Devs that this is NOT GOING TO BE BATTLEFRONT 3.

this is a brand new title starting from scratch using an existing IP which EA claims is seeing as a brand new one but that is beside the point and NOT in any way form a follow up to 1 and 2....

its not going to be and dont be expecting any different but a game that DICE are creating in their own vision set apart from the previous battlefront francise !!!

ArchangelMike3285d ago (Edited 3285d ago )

Dude, you are deliberatly missing the point.

If the last-gen version of a game has more features than its next gen counterpart (even if it's a 'reboot') - you have good reason to ask why; and it's not just about space battles either.

Here is the real issue. DICE are having to rush this game to market in time for the movie release. They do not have the luxury of moving the release date to improve and add features that SHOULD be there Day1. It's just too big an IP with so much marketing dollars behind it aleardy.

That reason right there is a good reason to be concerned, especially given the launch of Battlefield 4; not ignoring the fact that the cut "bonus content" will then just be sold as DLC instead of shipping with the game!!!

Its 2015. There is no reason for pre rendered cinematic trailers anymore. Either show game play or go home. Where's this game play video reps from Gamestop saw and were 'blown away' by? Certainly it wasn't this...

Pandamobile3286d ago

Gameplay was shown behind closed doors at the Star Wars press event. Tons of websites have coverage of it, all reporting the same thing.

Maul_T_Pass3286d ago

Then where is this 'magical' footage ? Seriously, what is the big secret? If you want to generate realy hype, show GP.

ZeekQuattro3286d ago (Edited 3286d ago )

The thing is I was super excited for this game for several reasons. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and this game has been a long time coming as the last Battlefront released over 8 years ago. The latest trailer for the movie and yes even the Rebels show got me even more hyped. Finally there hasn't been a good game in the Star Wars franchise for a years thanks to all the cancellations and Star Wars Kinect. I should of known they would pull this. The day before EA was supposed to break the internet they revealed a screenshot that clearly wasn't actual game play. The recent reveal of the trailer all but killed my hype for this game. E3 will hopefully change my mind on this game.

I've never played any Bttlefront game, but graphically, I think we might have to prepare for another Watch Dogs situation. I really don't think they will be able to deliver the graphics of the trailer (maybe PC version, but they said they showed PS4 didn't they?)

Just like the beginning of last generation, where developers showed CG trailers and trying to convince the public that it was the game, this gen they are doing the same but by showing great real time graphics only possible on the PS5, and then they just eat crow.

MysticStrummer3286d ago (Edited 3286d ago )

I'm feeling the same. Hoth alone makes me want the game, but they've also revealed things that make me think it won't be as amazing as it could be.

Aspyr if we sell hotcakes get that code from radical or something and create battlefield 3 please

Becuzisaid53d ago

I thought that was kind of obvious they were incorporating mods to piece this game together. Maybe not, but that's made me worried about one thing:

They also planned on adding the modded ending to KOTOR 2 but were legally blocked from doing so, even after they advertised that to help sell preorders for the game on Switch. Could the same happen with this? Any opponents have 3 weeks to bring down the hammer.

Wish these games would just get remakes.
