Today Star Wars: Battlefront was finally unveiled, causing the usual storm of discussion among fans, but what about those that actually make the games you play? Are they impressed or underwhelmed?

This game is going to look fantastic, mark my words.

This game is using an enhanced version of the Frostbite engine with physically based rendering and photogrametry, and is not being held back by last gen consoles.

The visuals in the trailer are definitely not pre-rendered CGI. As amazing as the graphics are, they are certainly achievable on current hardware. Not the cinematic camera angles and animations, of course, but certainly the general quality of the assets.. lighting, effects, etc. can be present during gameplay.

I hope so. pc players with super powered PCs are going to get the closest to what we saw in that in-engine footage. I would be astonished if battlefront on Xbox one or ps4 looked close to that good. It looks very photo-realistic in that trailer, and that photo realism just isn't something that video gaming graphics in general has achieved yet. Getting close though.

A child could tell this game is going to look the part of a AAA game. The real concerns rest in the stagnant creativity of the developer and the sheer greed of the publisher. The identity of the franchise has been stripped clean to make way for the washed out, over done formula of the modern FPS. The game will be Battlefield 4 painted Star Wars--it will be bare-bones featureless, potentially riddled with bugs, and contain an extensive DLC system which pollutes and segregates the player base.

This is EA doing what it does best: Cashing in on a movie franchise with a licensed tie-in product without passion or remorse.

As a graphical engineer I might give fair praise for visuals. As a game designer and person of creative integrity--I pity it. I pity it and every person of talent forced to participate in its creation.

@Swiftfox dice are great developers some of the best when it comes to fps online, keep trolling and say bf4 didn't work online like people say when truth is that game has worked since day one yea there was some issues but the game has always been playable, i guarantee you bf4 has more active concurrent members then anything you like hence the reason battlefront will be amazing period....

I'm not really sure that will happen, I don't see Sony winning the bid for the Star Wars license in the next few years and I don't see Disney handing it to a developer for a single platform, but who knows. They may the next time around have some clauses that let them open some deals to other publishers.

For right now for some unknown years, EA is running that license.

naughty dog are great developers but they are not gods like you guys praise them, look at tlou orignal reveal video then compare it to the finished product, tlou was a amazing game but had glaring ai problems, uncharted 2 was amazing 3 was trash and 1 was good and the multiplayer was shit on all uncharted but actually decent on tlou until they added dlc weapons, you guys want to bitch about dlc go bitch about tlou cause there dlc is pathetic you have to pay for new executions and taunts lol...

The Last of Us by the Road, 28 Days, I Am Legend etc

So why not a game inspired by Star Wars

Really liked the trailer and have already preordered it since I'm such a Star Wars fan but I really wish they showed some actual "in game" gameplay instead of just footage of it.

Think that's just a small section of the trailer with a photoshopped minimap and ammo counter (notice the ammo doesn't go down as the rebel fires his rifle).

Must I first comment that ND complementing SWB has a LOT to do with the lighting for recognition of my comments as OT?

I recently had to unwillingly bend to fLAMER WILLie as if I was off-topic explaining that Uncharted 4 looks last gen with the lighting it uses, in the comments about an article on Uncharted 4's art\artists... as if LIGHTING isn't one of the most important pARTS.

The SWB trailer, that ND is complementing, shows EXACTLY what I was describing about how important lighting is. My supposedly off-topic comment is on-topic here, unless I am supposed to wait until someone writes an article about the bad lighting in UC4, and that may never happen if people don't quit ignoring it as they claim it looks like the second coming of graphics while OBVIOUSLY games, lit the way SWB is, are what's really the LIGHT side of the force that isn't fLAMER.

I basically said I think Sony fans are their own worst enemy when being prideful (for examples, such as essentially forcing developers to use 1080P that often results in more frame dips and defending most of Sony's money going into always online 100% DRM gaming where customers don't own games, etc.). Call it concern trolling, if you must cast that evil spell, though I think Sony fans should quit being too busy "patting Sony\Naughty Dog on the back" rather than telling them that their game looks last gen with higher resolution and details such as chest hair physics rather than better lighting.

Just look at the Uncharted 4 trailers to see that they look as if they're trying to simulate the most depressing, gloomy, and overcast weather that exists, as if to hide that their lighting is dim and dull.

Does ANYONE have an explanation why seemingly ALL the Sony upcoming exclusives I see screenshots of don't use next-gen lighting? If you disagree with that, how about posting links to screenshots that show next-gen lighting rather than BLINDLY disagree. If you can find some brilliant shots, then please start harping on those instead for proof you're not BLIND fan***s, as the saying goes. Sony generally hypes games and tech many months or even years out... yet I see nothing on next-gen lighting? Maybe better lighting isn't an option when "pushing bigger Ps fLAMER style". I think better lighting means better INTELLIGENCE InFormation that isn't dull and dim... does Sony lack the Intelligence for being bright? <- I realize that may seem insulting to Sony fans, though realize "ignor(e)ance is what causes that you're not bright" (see the point about upcoming Sony exclusives yet?), and all you have to do is post links to screenshots showing that isn't true.

1000s of comments about bigger Ps though I mention that Sony could use those bigger Ps less fLAMER (to stop causing dark and icky\gloomy, etc.) and then Sony fans act as if I am an evil fLAMER... quit spinning, such as AA batteries are terrible to change the subject from how terrible the DS4 battery life is, etc.

To Sony fans, please accept that my being for thinking STRAIGHT is not for "butthurt" (the way bad comments back to me often are, "Check!" "off").

Sad thing is I can't get hyped anymore for any game. I am really looking forward to this game, but I know when we see actual console gameplay footage it will look garbage compared to the Teaser.
