Journey Coming to PS4 at 60fps - Due for release in summer

Gamespot:
Sony is preparing to release a remastered PlayStation 4 collection of three games developed by award-winning indie studio ThatGameCompany.

The trilogy, due for release in the summer, will package FlOw, Flower, and Journey onto one Blu-ray disc. Representatives for Sony told GameSpot that Journey on PS4 doubles the framerate to 60fps, but makes no other changes. It will also run at 1080p.

Never played this on PS3. I heard it was great and I can't wait to try it out.

G20WLY3295d ago

It's very short, but it's a beautiful game with an enjoyably unique approach to multiplayer.

NewMonday3294d ago

all the PS3 classics need to be remastered, bring on DemonSouls and NiNoKuni (best JRPG last generation)

NukaCola3294d ago

This game is incredible. It's a hard pick between this and Flower as my favorite thatgamecompany title, but I highly recommend this to everyone.

Der_Kommandant3295d ago

It's a masterpiece, a very short masterpiece.

NewMonday3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

it won most GotY awards back then, the first Telltale Walking Dead game came after in most GotY awrads won

it was the year when the industry really started to take Indy & digital games seriously

Yi-Long3295d ago

It's great. One of highlights of the PS3 library.

Weird that it's taken so very VERY long since announcing it to releasing it...

Paytaa3294d ago

Same, I missed out on the PS3 version so this is a must buy for me. I loved Flower so I'll most likely love this as well.

ifistbrowni3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

I heard it was great too, but then I watched an IGN Game-Scoop and one of the guys spoiled the ending (Brian Altano I think his name was).

I don't understand how you can be a gaming journalist, provide content to hundreds of thousands of people on the web and straight up spoil a game in an unrelated "Game of the Generation" consideration episode. He went on in this big rant when they brought up Journey and spoiled how the game ended. He "justified" it by saying something like, "if you haven't played it by now, you never will."

I'll probably still play it on ps4, but having the ending spoiled kinda ruins the experience before playing.

Spotie3294d ago

Even so, the experience is worth it, most definitely. I've played a lot of games in my thirty years of life, but none of them have had the impact on me that Journey did. It's simply a superb experience.

PS4 - It only does everything, again.

Genuine-User3295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

Jalva - Continuously downplays anything Sony, disregards just about every new/rebooted intellectual property. A fanboy (of some sort) masquerading as a man in distress and full of bitter criticism.

oasdada3295d ago

I wish people like you grow up..

jukins3295d ago

Just like you java fanboying AGAIN

F0XHOUND3295d ago

Yeah, the halo collection and the soon to be gears collection "its coming" are some of sonys finest too!

F0XHOUND3294d ago

@Gearskin

Sarcasm toward Jalvas post lol!

gangsta_red3294d ago

Compare the MCC and the "rumored" Gears to how many Sony games remastered so far?

Spotie3294d ago

@gangsta_red: As you Xbox fans always say, MCC is four games in and of itself, right?

Besides, the number and variety of well-regarded exclusives on PS3 rather outstripped that number on 360. AND there's a huge contingent of PS4 owners who didn't own a PS3. Microsoft hasn't said anything (that I recall), but I don't think that's the case for the XB1, so there wouldn't be as much of a reason for remastering 360 exclusives.

F0XHOUND3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

Gangsta Red

Seriously don't own yourself by saying that! Do you have an equivalent game to the last of us to remaster? Or access to FFX HD? You've not as many remasters for a reason.

Gears and halo! Oh, Alan wake is worthy of one. And an exclusive witcher 2 remaster, that's about it imo.

Fanboys suck, I own a 360 an x1 and ps3/4.... but ps4 simply has the stronger lineup, as did ps3. 50% WW market share gets you that guaranteed.

gangsta_red3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

@Foxhound

So re-masters of almost year old games that are not even old to begin with and just there to milk the consumer and bolster a line up is something to brag about?

Yup, you got me.

Sorry but Xbox One has the strongest line up.
See I can say the same thing too, that's how opinions tend to work.

@Spotie
"AND there's a huge contingent of PS4 owners who didn't own a PS3."

I love this excuse that you and others have simply made up to justify Sony repackaging almost new games and re-selling them back to their users.

There shouldn't be any reason to be remastering games that came out only a year or two ago. Especially remastering ONE game and selling it back to people with no extras, no new features, nothing.

Again more defense for an obvious cash grab tactic but only accepted because it's done from your favorite company.

DigitalRaptor3291d ago (Edited 3291d ago )

@ gangsta_red

Hit at me for being a hypocrite sure, but you are an insane one too. An opportunist to downplay Sony at every single desired opportunity, but you criticise others for downplaying Microsoft and the Xbox with valid enough reasons.

Halo 4 (as part of MCC) came out in 2012.

Journey came out in 2012, and TLOU came out in 2013. Halo 1 was remastered already before the MCC. So they've tried at milking that horse 2 times too many, by your own admission.

What about State of Decay? It's as old as The Last of Us on PS3 is. You have to re-buy that for Xbox One.

JOURNEY IS CROSS-BUY, which makes your attempt to attack Sony having more games releasing even more foolish and redundant. If Sony were treating their digital re-releases as cash grabs, then there wouldn't be such thing as cross-buy.

Try harder. PS4 has more original games than Xbox One AND more remasters. Only somebody of your ilk would take issue with that.

gangsta_red3290d ago

@Digital

Nice try Digital but I have not supported re-masters for any system. I have stated that I wouldn't mind a Gears re-master only if they include everything and a little more. But re-mastering one game and adding nothing I do not support no matter from who or what company.

Sony is attempting at cash grabs with a lot of their re-masters and of course you can't and won't see this because of your allegiance to Sony.

"PS4 has more original games than Xbox One AND more remasters."

Actually Xbox One has more original games but PS4 does have more re-masters. See I can play too.

Keep trying to paint me in the same light as you though Digital, as I am sure you'll find something that will stick sooner or later.

The other two PS3 games from That Game Company were already released for PS4, and given away for free to anyone who owned the PS3 versions. I imagine this game will also be free to owners of the PS3 versions. It's *fantastic* that they've done this. Flower on PS4 is absolutely GORGEOUS. One of the prettiest games of all time. And I didn't have to pay a penny for it, because I already owned it on PS3 :) Nothing to complain about with these "remasters".

RosweeSon3295d ago

Still beats nothing at all ;)

kraenk123295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

I prefer remasters of amazing classics and plenty of new and original IPs to Halo and Forza every year.

It is about time. I was just thinking this morning that I saw a video of Journey running on the PS4 last Fall and was wondering where that is. My daughter loves the PS3 version and I have been trying not to watch her play it so I can play it for the first time on PS4. I almost broke down and played it over the holidays but glad I waited.

Themba763295d ago

yes this and the last of us is the games i missed out on im glad there remastering this so i get a chance to play them.

slappy5083295d ago

Awesome! Ive held off playing this on ps3 so I can enjoy it on ps4. Not too long now

Concept artist has a very distinct style and if they can translate that into the game well this studio will be making some visually stunning games.
