GTA V is literally PHENOMENAL, sales wise, quailty wise...With rich history and maintained great consistency throughout the years!

Rockstar North, Hats Off, a huge fan since Body Harvest on N64!

Crimzon3298d ago

Shame that this thinking allows Rockstar to get away with whatever they want, like repeatedly reducing the amount of money players can earn in GTA Online so they can sell more of their DLC Shark Cards.

Sucks seeing a good game ruined with disgraceful DLC practices, but they get away with it because they're Rockstar and everyone loves GTA.

KwietStorm_BLM3298d ago

lol man please. Who even buys those?

exnoob3298d ago

Sorry, I was meant to agree with you. Take a bubble instead.

MasterBaker3298d ago

Money glitches are the way to go, I have 50million dollars in GTA online right now.

yezz3298d ago (Edited 3298d ago )

If you do all heists with the same crew, you can earn couple of millions just by doing those... Only lazy people buy those cards.

I've earned 12.6 million just by doing missions, heists and races with my friends. There is no way that you are going to need those shark cars.

BattleAxe3298d ago

Who cares about the online portion. If you're buying a GTA game to play online, then you're buying it for all the wrong reasons.

Kleptic3298d ago

^you're aware this isn't a new game, right?

what about everyone that beat it, you know, almost 2 years ago? If they buy GTA V again mostly for the online additions made, they're buying it for 'all the wrong reasons'?

get over yourself...

paul-p19883298d ago

@Kwiet "lol man please. Who even buys those? "

The $60million dollars Rockstar made in THE FIRST YEAR of GTA Online solely through the sale of Shark Cards says that quite a few people did

porkChop3297d ago

Actually, with the Heists update, Rockstar set all the payouts and stuff back to normal. If a job is a $9,000 job, it will give you $9,000 every time you do that job. Whereas before, you would get a significantly reduced payout. Since the Heists update it is WAY easier to make money. Rockstar finally fixed the biggest problem with GTA Online. The Shark cards are no longer necessary to enjoy the game.

I thought Rare did Body Harvest

JJShredder3298d ago

It was called DMA Design which became Rockstar North.

My god, I would love a current-gen Body-Harvest game!

SilentNegotiator3298d ago

It's literally the only GTA game that I could be bothered to finish. I love GTA5.

starchild3298d ago

Yeah, it's doing wonderfully and smashing records all along the way.

To put these PC figures in perspective, first realize that these are only the numbers sold on Steam, so the actual total figure will be somewhat higher. Also consider that it took both the PS4 and XB1 combined to reach about 3 million sold after a WEEK.
http://n4g.com/news/1630764...

So for the game to sell a million copies on Steam in only 24 hours is pretty impressive. Especially considering it's releasing much later and many people have already played it on their consoles and moved on.

Saryk3298d ago

I bought two copies on Greenman gaming. I was shocked to see that they were not Steam keys but Rockstar keys.

UltraNova3298d ago (Edited 3298d ago )

"Also consider that it took both the PS4 and XB1 combined to reach about 3 million sold after a WEEK"

What you forgot to consider yourself is that console gamers bought 30 million copies already and its safe to say that most of the next gen owners could have already played the game.

Let me elaborate further, the ps3 and 360 sold 11.2 million copies in 24HOURS. So a measly 1+ million on PC is nothing to put it lightly.

http://www.guinnessworldrec...

Anw, its no surprise PC gamers rushed to get the game after almost 2 years of waiting. With that upcoming MOD support who wouldn't?

DARK WITNESS3297d ago

I would just like to point out...

I bought the 360 version
the PS4 version
and the xbox one version

If I had a pc powerful enough I would buy it again for PC.

The only thing that is bugging me about the console versions (mostly the xboxone version which is what I play the most) is the horrible whitewashed filter. I didn't realise what it was at first but the 1.25 update removed it and the difference became clear, and then 1.26 added it back.

Personally I hate it.

other then that, the game i think is a technical master piece!

decrypt3298d ago (Edited 3298d ago )

This should be a big red flag in the face of Rockstar. Perhaps they will finally fold and give PC releases the same priority as Consoles.

Its no doubt its been console makers money hatting rockstar to delay the PC version so more people are forced to buy consoles. This however should make Rockstar think again, specailly considering PC versions tend to sell for a very long long time. Unlike console versions of games that die of few months post launch, PC versions just keep selling.

@Saryk

Bought the game of Greenman gaming too, 22% off not bad. I almost never pay 60usd for a PC game.

BassMan1253298d ago

Fun fact : GTA V PC hasn't been cracked yet. And they said the protection is more complex than denuvo. Many people ended giving up and bought the game.

Great job Rockstar!

Linwelin3298d ago

You can get the game for £16 it's not worth pirating an amazing game like this. GMG China was selling it for £16. I got my copy from Nuuvem for £20

rainslacker3298d ago

I don't disagree with you, but didn't GTA5 sell something over 10 million in a week on consoles upon release?

1 million for a port is pretty respectable profit wise. I dunno why people try so hard to get Rockstar to do PC first/same time. They never have for GTA, even when GTA wasn't that amazing.

I don't know if money-hatting had anything to do with it. I know it's been there for DLC, but not the game. But here's a thought, if console makers are money hatting, then maybe Steam should start money hatting too. Or be proactive and do what these companies are doing to get these perks. You can complain about it until the cows come home, but in the end, money talks, and it sucks, but that's the way it is.

SunnyZ3298d ago

@rainslacker
Why do people keep saying this is a port.
After having played the game this is 100% NOT a port.
The engine was built from the ground up with PC in mind.
Yes, console and PC share the same game assets, obviously. But the engine is the MAIN thing, and it is not a port.

Kleptic3298d ago

^and not to mention...the first GTA's very much were 'PC games' initially...GTAI was released on MS-Dos in 1997, and ported to PS1 in 98...

sequels followed the same routine...

it wasn't until GTA3 that it became a console-centric franchise...

Been downloading it all day, at 34gb -_-

XB1_PS43298d ago

You're still using free AOL disks eh?

TheFirstClassic3298d ago

My download speed on steam is usually 2.2 mb/s, but it was 150 kb/s yesterday. Probably because of all the traffic with everyone buying and downloading the game, I was only at 2% downloaded after two hours. The speed is back to normal now though, I'm up to 30% after two hours.

XB1_PS43298d ago

@Cpayne

Wow, I actually had no issues downloading it yesterday. It took 1h20m to download the whole thing at around 11mbps.

TheFirstClassic3298d ago

I feel your pain. I actually wasn't going to buy this game on pc though, but a friend of mine whom I'm steam game sharing with did, so I'm downloading it now.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 20h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 18h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy851d 17h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
