So, sales in UK are that bad???

Anyway, in UK it's been available for closer to £250 from major retailers for months!!!

Tesco 220£, GAME 299£, Simply Games £235.

So, with that prices, Xbone didn't do shit in UK!

Blues Cowboy3294d ago

You're actually right about the price cuts. Retailers have been pro actively slashing the heck out of the price with their bundles, so it makes sense for MS to realise that it''s the 'normal' price.

Genuine-User3294d ago

Sales are good, just not as good as the
PS4.

Gazondaily3294d ago

This is what MS needs to do anyway. The sales gap is massive between the two consoles.

But imt's trolling aside, the X1 is doing rather well in the UK afaik.

Genuine-User3294d ago

Yep. The sales gap is massive worldwide.

I agree, the X1 is doing rather well in the UK as opposed to the rest of Europe.

@Septic. I think you have been premature in calling people liars for saying there were cheap Xbox One price cuts in the UK, because they were real and have recently been available and been reported by multiple websites including N4G!

For anyone looking to buy an Xbox One in the UK there were in fact some amazing value temporary offers.

Simply games were offering the Xbox One for £239.99
http://www.videogamer.com/n...

Microsoft UK emailed many 360 owners to offer them an XBO and Halo:MCC for £249.99
http://www.hotukdeals.com/d...

Asda (Walmart owned supermarket) were offering an XBO + Halo: MCC + X-Men blu-ray for £249.99
http://www.dualshockers.com...

Just to underline the massive price difference the Xbox One launched in the UK at £429.99in the UK (with Kinect). For the temporary offer it was retailing for £239.99 (without Kinect). That's a difference of TWO HUNDRED POUNDS. Retailers were doing this to help stimulate Xbox One sales - price cuts is good business to get stock moving. If you are a gamer looking to buy an Xbox One then it's been a great jumping on point. That's all!

Gazondaily3293d ago

@ Pumble

The RRP is still £349.99 (too high imo). How is that a £200 reduction from a console with the Kinect bundled in?

rainslacker3293d ago

@Septic

If the price is the barrier of entry, then what's MS going to do when Sony drops their price? It's long overdue, and wouldn't be surprised if it happens at E3, or this holiday at the latest. People keep asking what Sony is going to do without Uncharted this holiday, and a $50 price drop to match the X1, bundled with a game or two, and it'll be another strong holiday for them.

MS is at a serious disadvantage on the price side right now since I can't imagine they have much more room to move in reaction to Sony before they start taking a loss on every console sold.

The best thing that could happen for MS this year is if Sony just decides to maximize profits(high system price with current sales numbers) over revenue/gaining install base(lowering price, see a sales spike).

Immorals3294d ago

I can get a brand new ps4 for around the same price. Doesn't mean sales are bad, retailers just want to keep up the momentum.

iamnsuperman3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

Retailers do not cut prices to keep up the momentum. If there is good momentum prices stay the same unless retailers are trying to be competitive. Retailers mainly drop the price to shift stock that isn't moving.

Now companies (who make the product) drop prices to increase demand. With consoles this happens when sales slow down dramatically (also revisions help a tremendous amount as well). The fact this has happened to the One so early in its life means sales are no where near what Microsoft want

SmielmaN3293d ago

Price cuts are to clear stock (unless it's the holidays). Why would a company cut its profits on a product to "keep momentum"? When many outlets keep cutting a products price it's the store getting investment back on their previous order because sales/inventory projections are not doing well. You can bet they haven't ordered as many units as they did before so they don't have to lose more investment and profit.

Time to step outside chief, the weathers getting better. :)

Crimzon3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

£220?! Gotta admit, kinda tempted at that price.

Edit: Okay I just looked and the cheapest Xbox One on Tesco is £299. The cheapest Xbox One on SimplyGames is £329.99 so uh, why lie imt558? I was excited about maybe snagging one for cheap.

FriedGoat3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

The deals might have ended. I know for sure Sainsburys were selling it (instore) at £250 with MCC and forza.

JMyers3293d ago

Actually the cheapest deals are on Amazon. £287 with £10 cash back.

It is doing that bad? How? Its a price cut and im sure this will push even more people to get one,I actually hope this offer is introduced in other parts of europe. and imt for the love of god. Stop trolling xbox articles. Its kind of weord&ironic always seeing you in certain xbox articles. :)

OUROSMAG3293d ago

I wouldn't say that, considering the PS4 just dropped to 288 in the same region. its just sales tactics.

Death3293d ago

What's the exchange rate from U.S. currency in the UK? If my calculations are correct, $349 in U.S. dollars comes out to 215.23 GBP. I'm not sure why people are complaining about getting one for the equivalent of $437.90 U.S.

I think it's awesome that Sony can charge $511.16 for PS4's in the UK. In the states they only get $399.

Interesting to see the differences between the countries. Shame on Microsoft and Nintendo for selling at a more favorable exchange rate.

PS4 UK 399 / U.S. $399
Xbox One UK 299 / U.S. $349
WiiU Premium bundle UK 249 / U.S. $299

I dunno. I know it sounds crazy, but it looks more like Sony is price gouging their UK fans since they have a much less favorable exchange than their competitors in the region. I guess you can do that when you are on top.

The uk rrp for the ps4 is £329.99 not £399.99

plus we have more tax and vat applied to the price also the minimum wage here is around $10 an hour generally these type of things cost more in the uk.

for example my xperia z3 was £600/$879 but it was only $500 in the states

Death3293d ago

@SmielmaN,

It's a free country, by all means do whatever you need to. You saying I was wrong, doesn't make you right. You choose to ignore what the analysts and publishers said about the way game sales are divided. I'm not wrong since I'm not the analysts or publishers. I simply provided the information to you. What you do with it is up to you.

Wow. In the UK it looks like every store sells the PS4 for a different price. The official site doesn't give a MSRP, just links to different stores. Gamestop in the UK sells the PS4 for 289 GBP and in the U.S. for $399. https://www.gamestop.co.uk/... http://www.gamestop.com/bro... Game is 349 http://www.game.co.uk/en/Pl... Unless the Gamestop site is selling used at 289, the price is either cheaper or the exchange is in line with the other manufacturers. Some of the bundles are priced much higher where the games are free here.

I guess my question is, how is Microsoft acting desperately if they are doing the same as the other console manufacturers as far as exchange rates go?

Stogz3293d ago

Lol! SmielmaN destroyed you down below. He's right too, all I ever see from you is trollish nonsense. Wish fake gamers like you would disappear from this site...

Death3293d ago

Fake gamer? What exactly does that mean? If you don't want to talk to gamers that share different opinions than you, maybe you shouldn't reply. I consider myself platform agnostic. I game on PC, Playstation, Xbox and WiiU. I also have a Vita, PSP, and multiple generations of Gameboy/DS. This is just the newer platforms. I started gaming prior to the release of the 2600 and have owned every platform since and still have most of them.

If owning game consoles and games as well as playing them makes you a gamer, I would gladly put my collection against yours. If being like you or SmielmaN is what it takes to be a gamer, that is a contest I can't win.

I think the current topic has to do with Microsoft doing so poorly in the UK that they are selling it for 299 GBP. The point I've been struggling to make is that is in line with the other manufacturers. It's hard to track since pricing seems very inconsistent in the UK among retailers. Nintendo and Microsoft have official MSRP while Sony's site simply redirects to retail partners for pricing. Want to keep this on topic and chime in or do you want to keep slicing at me like the word ninja you appear to be?

Interesting: "Replying to me on Twitter, Boyd told me that this represents a "UK only retail promotion," perhaps suggesting that the price cut is temporary as opposed to a new benchmark. "

bit-crusherrrr3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

According to the article about this on eurogamer they said the samething last time and it became the new permenant price. So it'll probably stick.

RosweeSon3294d ago

I can't see they'll ever put the price back up again, they can try but considering Kinect is no longer included it's still not worth £299 without it, £249! Christmas bundle and I'll be there for now I'll be enjoying my summer and saving my cash ;)

well i brought an xbox one for £250 and im loving it so far. I brought the counter parts to games I already had on the 360 (Dragon age, GTA 5, Black flag)and as I said im very happy with it.

Fro_xoxo3294d ago

Nice :)Sweet price.

What do you think of the controller? that's one of my favourite 'things' about the console.

starbuck3294d ago (Edited 3294d ago )

I must say I didnt think they could improve on it but they have. I read something ages ago about the fact that it now has motors in the triggers and this gives it more weight to it eg in DAI on the 360 you swing a sword and the controller rumbles but with the new one you can kind of feel the weight behind the swing, its hard to explain it to people that havnt used it. Also in GTA 5 the gun fire is great but you can also feel traction lose which is great.

Yi-Long3294d ago

It's good that you're happy with your system of course, and you should be, but the 3 games you mentioned that you now enjoy on your XBO, are all also available on PS4.

For me, I kinda look at two or three things when deciding to buy a system: The price/value, the quality of the third-party support compared to other systems, and of course the exclusives.

For me, XBox has only a a few exclusives I'm excited about, like Sunset Overdrive, Ori,etc etc. It used to be Forza and Fable, but tbh Fable has never REALLY lived up to it's potential, and Forza has become a DLC milking-cow, so I kinda lost interest in those two.

The other exclusive I really cared about was Project Gotham Racing, which were all great, but sadly that studio closed down...

So for me to now consider buying an XBO it would either have to really get more exclusives out there that I really want to play (perhaps Tomb Raider 2?), or just really get a 'can't refuse' price.

Other than that, I'll stick with PS4 for now, while keeping an eye out on XBO and WiiU to see what they'll be offering to convince me to buy either system as a 2nd (new) console....

starbuck3294d ago

what made me get the one apart from price is that out of the 100 or so people on my friends only a small fraction went to PS4 most went to the one.

Yi-Long3294d ago

Good point. That's a valid reason as well :)

christocolus3293d ago

You definitely need to play Ori and Sunset Overdrive.if you are into racing then its a no brainer Fh2 is swesome.all great games.

pinkcrocodile753294d ago

@starbuck - Fantastic news on your Xbox One purchase, I hope you saved yourself a bundle some of the games too.

If this becomes the new official price point, then great. I'm sure MS will shift plenty of units in the coming months.

As for comparing sales figures of one console with another... There isn't much point apart from stroking your ego for buying Apples instead of Oranges.

starbuck3294d ago

I got a code from MS for the halo master chief bundle which came with console, controller, headset and Master chief collection plus evolve and a another controller with play and charge kit all for £249.99.
Traded in the controller with play and charge and evolve to pay torwards witcher 3 and arkham knight so Im very happy
