DriveClub Vs Forza Horizon 2: Lamborghini Huracan Sound Comparison

It’s always interesting to hear the difference of car sounds from one game to another, sometimes it can be subtle other times it can be completely different and you are left wondering whether it is actually the same car in both games or not.

DriveClub car sounds like blenders

mithril3295d ago

mmmmm more realistics on DriveClub. check link of real sound at 329 km/h : https://www.youtube.com/wat...

MrSec843295d ago

So true, FH2 sounds highly compressed, whereas Driveclub sounds like the actual car, it's so realistic, full quality audio.

BallsEye3295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

No. You're showing bad quality vid recorded with a phone. Here's a profesionally recorded footage. Sounds much like fh2

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

forza had it's sounds recorded directly from the engines with most advanced recording equipment out there. In DC it somehow sounds like few engines in the same time.

@Insomnia_84

All i see is a lot of jaggies. Is there any AA at all there?

Bansai3295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

forza has way more content, that's why quality isn't on par with DC which is maybe 20% of what Forza has to offer.

Even tho I own PS4, I'd like to get my paws on FH2 rather than DC

Bennibop3295d ago

@banzai I own both forza h2 and Driveclub, I only play Driveclub. Game is far more challenging than h2

SonofGod3295d ago

FH2 sounds EXACTLY as it should be, like real life. Huracan was recorded in real life for Forza Horizon 2. Driveclub doesn't sound realistic at all.

nveenio3295d ago

Actually, the folks at Evolution put a lot of work into Driveclub's audio: http://blog.us.playstation....

The did so good, apparently, that BMW and Mercedes wanted them for their own.

If I close my eyes and listen to the video it sounds like drive club car is always in a tunnel.. It's definitely too deep of a sound. forza sounds more realistic and the crackle sound when slowing down is spot on.

Cueil3295d ago

Driveclub sounds like a racer that only needs to drive in circles and FH2 sounds like an open world game... why do we compare these two? You're going to have less audio fidelity in FH2... this goes without saying there is a lot of give and take when you go from the track to an open world

andyo133295d ago

As a soundie from television I have good knowledge in this area.
Drive Club has a lot more reverb off the environment which I prefer and is more realistic, they're playing the sound from the perspective of the ears in the car. Forza still has reverb but not as much but that could be due to the environment chosen.
play Drive club on a similar open area and they might even sound near identical. There's 100s of different ways you can record the sound of a car but it all comes down to what experience you want from it. Drive Club has gone more point of view/first person with their sound while forza possibly just went for what sounded cool.
My preference Drive Club.

mithril3295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

@BallsEye, you can not take a TV show video to compare. these video are reprocessed and noise is removed by the sound engineer. The proof in your video listening to audio with the driver in the car. there is a lot of noise. In situations in real race car at 300 we have many noise. it's less attractive but it's the reality. engine sound, tire on road and wind are part of the immersion. A lot of games remove that sound to make it more attractive. Yes FH2 have better engine sound. But i don't drive an engine, i drive a car on the road.

XBLSkull3295d ago

I looked away from the screen so I wouldn't know which was which. First sounded really thin and muffled, second sounded like a beefy powerful machine and was much clearer. Forza wins this without contest.

Your words sound like jealous. Forza sounds like a damn scooter. Your mom sounds like a blender.

BoriboyShoGUN3295d ago

^^^^^^ Damn no bubble crew!!!

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3295d ago

Forza car sounds pretty generic to be honest. The sounds from all the Driveclub cars are hyper realistic as they were recorded both inside and outside the actual cars. They recorded them with such accuracy that the car manufacturers asked them for copies of the tracks to replace their own.

PudgeyBurrito3295d ago (Edited 3295d ago )

As someone who does mix music, I noticed that the actual content of the 2 cars are pretty much the same. The difference is in the Eq Forza's being a bit higher in the treble mid end and Drive club using more reverb to mimic atmospheric events.

You do know that BMW and Mercedes actually requested the samples from DriveClub as they were so realistic? Feel free to ignore the link below and live in your fanboy world, with Xbox glasses on.

LOVE the Huracan. I drove it the other day in FH2 F&F and it's gorgeous - I'm glad both games (DC & FH2) can experience it. Amazing times we live in to experience such beautiful creations. Can only imagine how sweet the Huracan would be in real life.

MCTJim3295d ago

This doesnt do either game justice at all. They sound crappy in this video. Put it through a good surround sound headset or an actual surround sound and my oh my does it sound 10x's better.

Sonital3295d ago

Not knowing how either sound in real life I'm going to take the middle ground and say they both could be right?

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut8598d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander197298d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff218397d ago (Edited 97d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim98d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno98d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff218397d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

Chocoburger98d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai98d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC98d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

Dirt rally doesn't even make the list? Errm OK then.

Driveclub is over rated as well, with middle of the road handling and the 30fps killed it upon arrival for me.
