The Definitive Version of GTA V is on PC

Samuel Roberts from PC Gamer discusses why he think that the PC version of GTA V is the definitive edition of Rockstar's masterpiece and how the game looks and plays when compared to the current and last gen consoles. He descibes his time with the PC version that was running at 4K resolution and 60FPS.

In other news, earth continues to orbit the sun.

Seriously though, after all this time, I hope it will be worth the wait.

Genuine-User3304d ago

Almost every single game will perform better on PC, based on your hardware, of course.

Palitera3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

Except online games filled with cheaters.

I choose fair play and clean games.

Kingthrash3603304d ago

So this is news?
Lol it has to be ...the game is a last gen game they had all the time in the world to make it the definitive version. Plus all the money people spend on upgrading their pc I'm sure this is the definitive version. Pc always has the definitive versions of games...smh captain obvious.

HammadTheBeast3304d ago

@Palitera

That's questionable, there's cheaters on every platform, yes more on PC because it's easier to do it, but compared to the whole population not that many.

SUCKxITxEZ3304d ago

@Palitera- go play any CoD or battlefield game that is over 1 year old on console and then PC. I can guarantee you will spend hours trying not to get thrown in a hacked lobby on console. It will take you 5 seconds to find a clean server on the PC's server browser. Trust me, I hacked an OG Xbox back when I was 12 And it took 20 minutes, only children waste their time hacking games, and most children are on console.

Monkeycan83304d ago

no.. really? D: I never knew!

gamerfan09093304d ago

I get PC gamers want to play the best games at the best graphical output, but damn to wait 2 years to play a game is pretty crazy to me. I understand graphics and mods mean a lot to them, but I simply cannot imagine waiting 2 years to play a game as hyped as GTA V.

kingduqc3304d ago

The game is better, why should we care if it's released later? 720p 30 fps with dips isn't something I want to experience in 2015...

Malphite3304d ago

Why should we care? Okay you might not care but most PC gamers I know (myself included) do care. I'm glad it comes out finally but we shouldn't have to wait 2 years for a PC version of a multiplatform game especially when it's such a big budget game coming from such a high class developer like Rockstar.

ravencry3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

ya right i mean why won't pc gamers use console like ps3. pretty stupid right ?

i had the game on ps3 but i am gonna upgrade to pc.

atleast i paid 39$ to get 1080p 60fps and mods and video editor not 60$ to play at choppy 1080p 24-30fps

deadfrag3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

PS4 version now runs at lock 30fps after 1.8 patch!I own a good PC and frankly playing the game on te PS4 its suficiente because it already looks and plays more than Great i dont need 4K graphics or 60fps to enjoy this game and most of te games.Games are Games because they are made to have fun after a day of work, realism i already have every day from the time i wake up to the hour i get to sleep,4K@60fps dont give me more fun than 1080p with lock 30fps because its only a game.

HammadTheBeast3304d ago

1080p and 60 fps, hope you have a GT 970 or higher if you're planning on running at max settings.

traumadisaster3304d ago

100 year Backlog is the reason waiting doesnt matter.

I ran out and bought it on ps3 when it released even though I have a 4kpc and it was complete mush.

I was shocked how bad the low res, jaggies, and choppy frame rate was. I played 20ish hours and enjoyed it despite the gfx.

But I have such a backlog I shelved it to catch up on other games and revisit it when it was trully done.

kraenk123304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

2 years?! The next gen version only came out half a year ago, right?! I played the game on PS3 already (real gamers play on PC and consoles, true?!) and I will happily get my next gen experience with a mouse and a keyboard in first person on PC!

cogniveritas3304d ago

Not ever gamer is just waiting around. I played it day on on PS3, then pushed it aside for other games. I'm ready for the PC version now.

starchild3304d ago (Edited 3304d ago )

First of all, it has been a year and 8 months since it came out on last gen consoles (not two years) and only 4 or 5 months since it came out on current gen consoles.

Why didn't I hear this kind of talk when the current gen console versions came out? "Oh, it's already been out for a year and a half, who would want to wait so long for the PS4 version? That's crazy".

So it's ok to wait a year and 4 months, but not a year and 8 months? Lots of people were excited for the PS4 and XB1 versions, why can't PC gamers be excited for the PC version? Especially considering all the advantages it has?

Second of all, many PC gamers also own consoles and could have chosen to play those versions any time they liked. Don't assume people were just sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the PC version.

Is it ideal? No, but it's not a huge deal. The vast majority of games release at the same time on PC and consoles. And it's not like consoles don't wait their fair share of time for certain games that have been on the PC for months or years.

Shineon3304d ago

All gamers wait for games and besides the PC has a huge library unlike Ps4 and X1 so waiting for the the true version isn't anything to worry about.

4k 60fps on gtx 980 sli is pretty good.

before anyone quote me 4k is 4 times 1080p so a gtx 660 and r7 260x can play gta v 1080p 60fps at medium-high settings.

Gtx 960 and r9 280x will play it 1080p 60fps high-very high settings.

so gtx 970 and r9 290 will max the game 1080p 60fps.

Pretty good optimization

Grave3304d ago

I agree. I've got two 660s running in SLI, but I'm running at 5760 x 1080. I expect to get 60FPS stable with some tweaks. The game seems to be well optimized and the amount of control they give you in the graphics options is a very good thing.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 19h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 18h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius1d 7h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy851d 17h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius1d 7h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
