As much as people don't like it, Destiny isn't going away anytime soon. Bungie & Activision signed a 10 year deal.

The best we can hope for is that Destiny 2 fixes the mistakes of the original. It still has heaps of potential and is still a fundamentally fun game.

I don't think it's so much that people dislike Destiny. It's that at the end of the day those who do realize how shallow it is and grow bored. Obviously early on there was much dislike and I suppose even to this day you get some pissing on the game but by large it's the veterans complaining most. Generally speaking the game itself, while incredibly weak, is absolutely incredible and the game play is spot on. IMHO you can't ask for much better control from a console shooter.

That being said you are absolutely correct. Destiny isn't going away anytime soon and hopefully Destiny 2 addresses many of the issues. Both trivial and of importance. More gear, weapons, shaders, vault space, more Raids, Strikes, Planets, areas to play on said planets and so on.

There was a time before The Dark Below I thought this was a game I was going to lose countless days to like FFXI and WoW before it. RNG sucks, trying so hard and failing to obtain IceBreaker and G-Horn were gruesomely frustrating but luckily enough I obtained all the goodies. At the end of the day the strike dubbed Raid of Crota's End fell short, bounties grew tiresome and were done by default, etc. The world and scope were simply too small for this game and what was promised. I'm probably in the minority but Destiny is a game I would have happily payed a monthly fee to play; say $10/mo. If it ensured that we got the content out the box, constant additions between expansions, true expansions these not weak ass DLC updates, actual fixes to bugs created by fixing cheeses, and so on. While I put the game down almost 2 months ago the fact remains the game is great. it simply grows boring with limited reasons to play and limited areas to enjoy. Guess being off work and making Destiny my job didn't help in my early departure. For me though I bought the Pass so House of Wolves is my last go. If that doesn't give me reason to keep playing Destiny while off work after surgery then I have no intention of buying this Huge Expansion come Fall when I will hopefully be back to work.

I agree. This is so dumb. They say this all the time, especially when a new game comes out. This game excels at being addictive. I don't know what the house of wolves will be like but if it's better then TDB I'll be happy. I am not looking for groundbreaking DLC, just signs they are listening and improving. Comet will be the one I follow closely. They need to implement A LOT of content there.

Honestly i think the 2nd round of DLC should be a much more complete package. One Raid and one strike or two for ps4 are just not enough. I think 4 strikes and a raid are fine as strikes add replay-ability to a repetitive game.
a slew of good useful exotics is also needed as Ghorn is just so overwhelmingly powerful it makes me never equip any other exotic weapon.
Many more exotic bounties and bounties in general that are raid related should be available.
the game should be less grinding more rewarding. Less repetitive more intuitive. That being said it's still the most fun with friends for me.

The grinding is bit too much to invest in destiny when there are so many new games coming out. I stopped playing in December.

The game acts like a (second) job, not a video game. The difference is you work towards a random reward structure with little to no sense of achievement (achievment is key for longetivity). Gameplay is fantastic, also playing with and discorvering new friends (raids) is what holds the attraction towards this game. One major flaw is found within raids, it is the lack of support from bungie dealing with glitches.

For me to continue playing after the next dlc, bungie will have to invest heavily into adapting a much better and larger story telling. Plus the story must be in the actual game itself, not have 90% hidden behind their website. I look foward to what gameplay changes they might make for Comet (Destiny 1.5), this too will steer my decision.

Regardless of my opinion, i look foward to seeing the changes made to keep the series feeling fresh every year (10 years total) and how the gamers will react.

if destiny was made by a developer/publisher, like warframe's, it would have been much better off. bungie/activision don't see the need to add in anything substantial through updates(for some reason), so all the issues people actually have with the game never get addressed. it would be nice to see those empty kiosks in the tower be filled up with new shops and services, but no. they'll stay empty and new features won't be added until destiny 2... destiny could easily be updated to it's full potential if it wasn't being overseen by such a greedy-a** publisher.

You do know Destiny is a one time purchase right? So how is bungie suppose to make extra money to make content ever so often like warframe?

Answer is subscription model or free to play.

So be happy that they are at least trying to make content for the game even tho they don't get any extra money to make the content .

it's a one-time purchase with overpriced dlc. warframe is f2p and offers huge, free updates that actual impact gameplay and adds entirely new weapon types and fighting styles FOR FREE. if you're telling me that for them to add a new vendor or weapon class is too much, then that just means you're fine with being ripped off. most of us aren't, but hey, if that's how you like it, by all means~

i'm also pretty sure that destiny made more than warframe in it's first month than warframe has made in its entirely across all 3 platforms for the past 3 years, so it's not a matter of money. if you played warframe you'd know what an update SHOULD be.

Warframe is a free to play. Probably every 5mins someone is buying over price platinum. That is a steady income to make significant changes . So please tell me how is destiny making that kinda money every single day.

Meh already moved on from this game last played it January 25 it was fun for awhile then I spent way to much time grinding and for no reason really. Though I have the Season Pass doubt I will go back as there won't be enough reward for the time spent to obtain weapons and gear and to what end really..nothing.

Hope Destiny 2 is ALOT better.

The game is just shallow to me in some of its aspects. But when it comes to the gameplay mechanics, that's the best fps shooter I've played in years. It's really easy to pick up and play for anyone. It has a lot of potential to be a really deep game all around, but I'm afraid that potential may not be in the question for Bungie until Destiny 2 comes.

Destiny is good as is frustrating, im stuck at level 31 with Hunter just because i just can't find Radiant Shards every time i play i just got ascendant shards i don't understand the logic of it will i wait for my lucky day do get the things i desire the most? I can wait but for how long? MK X is around the corner and Bloodborne is already here and many more will come... Bungie need to pull shit together and put some logic in that game dedicated gamers with no rewards occasional gamers with the best rewards? I just don't get it...

Well that's simply because you're obviously looking in the wrong places.

You say you need radiant shards...those can only be found in Crota's End, and you cannot find ascendant shards there. So if you play Crota's end you are typically guaranteed radiant energy or shards. And if you're high enough rank with Eris you can turn shards into energy or vice versa.

It's a very shallow game. DLC won't fix that. I remember the night I stopped playing for good. It was during the first Queen's Wrath event. It was a combination of things but the main issue was that I realized every weapon I was getting in bulk for strikes etc was something I had no desire to use because obviously my main arsenal was better and breaking down for weapon parts was also lame.

Basically I was doing strikes for weapon parts that...didn't really matter because my favorite guns where maxed out etc. Literally no reason to play anymore Crucible was fun, but didn't buy Destiny to PVP all day. That was never the plan, it wasn't marketed that way and actually I remember the team speaking about PVP in Destiny before the game came out like it was an after thought.

Everytime I do consider going back to Destiny to see if I'm interested again the DLC comes to mind and how they distribute it and how they ultimately try to force the Core Players to purchase the DLC by alienating them. So they are only making it easier for me to turn away from the game in the end.

I mean don't get me wrong, the honey moon period of the game was fantastic, and I filled all three of my slots with maxed out characters one of them had 30+ because of light, but...just nah the game isn't worth it anymore to me. Don't even get me starting on Xur. It's stupid to have someone selling the same exotic or armor piece weekly to every player who can use it...doesn't that defeat the purpose of it being exotic if everyone else can just go pick up the same item...why isn't what a person gets randomly determined by what class they are using? It would add for some variety, but that seems to be what Destiny lacks in.

My only regret is that I bought the game Digital really. I would've been gotten rid of it by now. Lesson learned though.

The game definitely isn't for everyone, but I love it personally.

I'm in love hunting for very exotic and even though most of the time I dismantle legendaries I get, sometimes the roll is so good that it's a DEFINITE KEEPER!!!

I have over 400 hours on playstation and I just got an X1 copy so I can make new characters and play with other friends.

This game will be in my rotation for years to come for sure. Especially while they keep adding content and have been doing a great job listening to their players.

Truth be told from someone who picked it up last November, this is by far the best game I've ever played. Sure it's lacking in content and the countless grinding gets irritating. But the most important thing is that it provides my brother and I an opportunity to play a shooter together, while living half an hour away from each other, every day after work, and on the weekends. I've put in over 150+ hours into this game. 150+ man, that's the most time I've ever put into a video game. Even if I stopped playing it now, which I won't, I would easily be able to say I've gotten my money's worth.

I think video games have reached a certain point in time that fans expect a certain level of content, graphics, framerates, etc. While Destiny isn't the first RNG RPG, it has taken on some new avenues that just aren't quite planned out entirely. There's work to be done, but House of Wolves is by no means its last stand. I'm in it for the long haul, regardless of what may come.
