What's Your Favorite PS2 Memory?

USgamer:"With the PS2 celebrating the 15th anniversary of its Japanese launch next week, we thought we'd talk about Sony's seminal console for this week's community question. More specifically, your memories associated with it. What do you remember most about the biggest-selling console of all time? Is there a special game that you associate with it, or does it represent a particular time and place for you? Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it."

For me its between Final Fantasy x and Socom 1&2

decrypt3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

GT3 was amazing for its time, pretty much the only game I invested tons of hours on the PS2. Loading times on the PS2 though were painful.

Carrying the slim in my bookbag/backpack, because it was the size of a small book and you could easily bring it to friend's houses.

Seeing the first Colossus in SotC and thinking... uhhh, are you serious, how the hell am I going to kill that thing?

Redrum0593322d ago

Final fantasy 12
Devilmaycry

Why o why3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

Seeing that first colossus take up my whole screen

Playing mgs2 in Japanese. .....took me over an hour to beat phyco mantis by chipping away patiently.....didn't know why the screen went blank....

I did pay for the retail version when it was released and have purchased pretty much every mg thereafter

Doing my first summon on the first final fantasy game I ever played..those materia.....lol

Agh yes, tekken, many hours learning combos that i still remember and can do now

ALOT! Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, God of War, GTA, Socom.....but my favorite (if this counts) is just recently. I sent in my 60gb PS3 and just got it back.

Breaking out all those games after all this time....THAT is my best PS2 memory now that I got my BC PS3 back! WOOHOO!

jackwei223322d ago

Can't forget GTA III as that game changed my life forever!

LackTrue4K3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

me: PlayStation 2® loading screen

Joey_Leone3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

Vice City for me as well, and the 007 series with splitscreen multiplayer.

MRMagoo1233322d ago

Everything from launch day :) the console was amazing way too many good memories of tons of games to choose a favourite but gta San andreas fffx and GoW were highlights of an amazing generation, where it proved a 1 console domination was a good thing.

Playing Shadow of the Colossus for the first time not knowing what to expect. I'll never forget that.

WeAreLegion3322d ago

Agreed. I don't think any of us were ready for that one.

deathtok3322d ago

Same for me... I was blown away! Their was a flying colossus and I was riding a horse. The sadness I felt in the finale...

Jonny5isalive3322d ago

ohh I loved that game on xbox. I remember getting something like 62 takedowns on one race. We got so good at takedowns that we were almost breaking the game it seemed.

Aloy-Boyfriend3322d ago

Jak 3 changed my life as a gamer

SaveFerris3322d ago

Metal Gear Solid 3, or God of War

Remembering Medal Of Honor: The Forgotten Master Of WW2 Games

Ibrahim from eXputer: "The Medal of Honor franchise was once the crown jewel of FPS war games, later defeated by the tides of time and poor development."

banger884d ago

They tried to turn it into Call of Duty and it killed it off. They should reboot it and go back to it's roots. But they'd ruin it with online-only/multiplayer style bullshit so why bother? I have very fond memories of these games, but this series can stay dead as far as I'm concerned.

FPS_D3TH2d ago

Was literally just thinking of this game the other week with the secret nut cracker mission and the shooting Bismarck dog lmao. Loved these games as a kid

PrecursorOrb2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I wish they’d remake warfighter

Strictly for the campaign

The_Hooligan2d ago

I have fond memories of playing the Medal of Honor Breakthrough MP Demo. It had two maps and custom servers. Living on campus, I had it downloaded on one of the PC Lab servers so I could access it on any computer at the university. Joined a clan and made friends that I still keep in touch with today.

8 Years Later, It's About Time Sony Revives The Rest Of Ratchet And Clank

Hanzala from eXputer: "On this joyous 8th anniversary of the Ratchet and Clank reboot, it's about time Sony considers reviving the originals to complete the saga."

shinoff21835d ago (Edited 5d ago )

It's not the ideal situation but Sony does offer them on ps plus. I to would just like a big ass compilation on doscto though

purple1015d ago

Insomniac roadmap leaked a while ago and they are making another, they’re doing the best they can and these games, especially the last two, are master pieces

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC5d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos4d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Cacabunga4d ago

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer5d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

monkey6025d ago (Edited 5d ago )

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya5d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde5d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP5d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
