Ok, i honestly hope not lol. But then again, i wouldn't frown because he will be making Silent Hills and i need that game in my life now.

vishmarx3335d ago (Edited 3335d ago )

did he say that? when did he say that? how did i miss it?

EDIT lol i know about silent hills , i was asking about the end of mgs .
and he's not just any dorito's guy.he's the goddamn pope.show some respect

GCO Gamer3335d ago

Yeah, he's making the new Silent Hill with the guy from The Walking Dead also.

DarkOcelet3335d ago

Um, didnt you see the trailer for P.T. or the interview with the Doritos guy i think, he said he will be making the new Silent hill.

RowSand3335d ago

@GCO Gamer he is not just a guy from the walking dead lol hes normnn reedus ;)

mikeslemonade3335d ago

It will not be the last MGS. He has said that since MGS3.

breakpad3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

i also hope to be his last MGS as the story is already too convoluted and with Peace Walker and MGS4 he stretched it a lot making him loose the ball a little bit ...but i dont want to be his last work...also a MGS4 or MGS1 total remake on pS4 they would be awesome (specially MGS4 which feels a bit rushed for release as PS3 was eager for AAA game that time)

crxss3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

"final MGS" is misleading. no doubt there will be remakes and sequels but with Kojima in a lesser role. i mean building a whole new FOX engine for one MGS game doesn't make sense.

blesbok3334d ago

He's been saying that since after MGS2, sorry, source not on hand, i read that back when mgs3 had the cover of Game Informer.

rainslacker3334d ago

I think the quote your thinking of was that Kojima wanted to work on different games, not that he wanted the series to end. He's been doing MGS the majority of the past 20 years, I'd imagine it'd get tiring after a while.

sonarus3334d ago

TBH i have never been a big fan of Kojima's work... aside from metal gear solid that is. Zone of the enders and all the other stuff he did never moved me so i'll hold my excitement for silent hills game with kojima.

That being said. MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 and MGS4 were all the best games ever made to me at the time i played them and i am eagerly anticipating MGS5 will be the best game ever made to me as well.

It would be really really nice to get a release date though

pixelsword3334d ago

It may be the last Solid, but there's still Rising...

Well it's not going to be the last MGS, the franchise is too big for them but Kojima will make this his last one

As I've said before they should of just ended it on Guns of the Patriots. This prequel story is not something we needed to know, unlike when we were all hyped for MGS3 to find more about The Boss and Big Boss and MGS4 to finally find out what everything has been leading up to, this game just doesn't have that at all.

He should of spent the time to create a new MGS to to seperate a new timeline/series from the one he's created. I mean that's why he's always said "this is going to be the last one" then he comes back because he hates the fact of someone ruining what he's created for such a big chunk of his life. We would all be the same, so the best he could of done was to make a new game in a new timeline.

Least then he could finally move on and not have a care in the world what they did with MGS

Plus if they did a new timeline/reboot-remake they could skip the ageing thing with Snake in their timeline. Maybe Raiden dies as a child soldier making MGS2 play out differently or Solidus Snake gets away and Liquid dies instead. They could find a cure for Snakes ageing problem in this universe.

one2thr3335d ago

I was thinking, what if Snake had accidently destroyed "FoxDie"(if i remember correctly are nano bots), by crawling through that micro wave room inside OuterHaven while making his way to the server room(patriots), thus freeing up his blood cells/dna so that otacon or even sunny can make a clone of solid snake with the help of super advance technology.

Name Last Name3335d ago

lol you don't think seeing how Big Boss finally turned into a bad guy is worth it? I'm super hyped for this.

Ratty3335d ago

@one2thr

FoxDie is a virus though. It's not nanomachines. Also, they can't clone him because of the terminator gene.

DarXyde3335d ago

To each their own. Personally, I have always enjoyed Big Boss' journey more than Solid Snake's. We saw how he became Big Boss in Snake Eater, but we never knew why Gray Fox was his most trusted lieutenant. We found how he met Roy Campbell in Portable Ops, but we never knew how the Les Enfantes Terribles project began. Peace Walker was more or less the game when he fully accepted his title as Big Boss, but that was pretty much the extent of it. Given how America had him kill his mentor and the crazy events in between leading up to Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, it's just an amazing journey to experience. How, after all of that, has Big Boss not lost it and became the enemy Solid Snake needed to destroy? From a narrative perspective, I think this game totally needed to be made. Now we're at a point where he's lost everything and now we can see what kind of person he became that needs to be taken out. The beauty of The Phantom Pain is that I feel, by the end of it, Big Boss' fate at the end of MGS4 will be that much more heart-wrenching. Kojima knows how to tug the heartstrings, I'll say that. I'd love to see how it all begins, yet how it all ends.

Also, technically, he did try to create a different timeline/series with Ac!d, but that didn't exactly become popular.

Now about a new timeline/reboot without Snake's aging and whatnot, I don't like that idea at all. Certain events have already been established and that would be the devil's playground to manipulate. Personally, I don't think an alternate period would be a great idea because that would mean the series drags on and it's not that it is/isn't true, but alternative. From a narrative perspective, it's just not a great idea. I want Kojima to be able to walk away from MGS to pursue other projects. Maybe if whomever handles a reboot does it, they can do that.

-Foxtrot3335d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

@Name Last Name

I already know how and why he turns into a "bad guy". It's pretty much explained in Guns of the Patriots and also small hints to his future transformation were shown in Snake Eater as the same happened to the Boss.

Why would I actually need to see the transformation on screen.

I would of rather seen his focus on Silent Hills then Metal Gear Solid V. Guns of the Patriots ended the series on a good note.

@DarXyde

I think your missing the point of my comment.

If he set up the START of a new timeline, then Kojimas games won't be hurt with newer MGS games.

They are obviously going to continue the franchise without Kojima but do you want his franchise to drag on or would you rather see a new timeline drag on which has no relation to Kojimas games.

His games, his timeline, his version of events will be left untouched.

With this Kojima gets to walk away, in peace and without a care that Konami will end up ruining HIS games.

Xman2K3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

With that logic, it should've ended with MGS1, and MGS4 wasn't the best MGS, even PeaceWalker surpassed it in my book. With Peacewalker, Kojima showed MGS could have a new take whilst keeping many of the same elements. I would like the franchise, Solid Snake, Big Boss to end with V. every other game could only have new characters with the same elements and design, hopefully not ruining the MGS name

one2thr3334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

@one eyed

But the virus had attached itself to the nanobots which caused the nano's to mutate into something worse.

If thats the case (it being a virus, which it is) how would an inorganic creation be mutated by an organic creation?

And wouldnt that mean that the virus and nanobots are now inseparable and if so would going through a hallway sized microwave oven fry the mutated duo? (FOXdie and nanobots)

tman73023334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

@Fox

This is the last "Metal Gear Solid" game, but there will be more "Metal Gear" games. The "Metal Gear Solid" saga ends with 5. If you were any kind of fan, you would understand this. 5 had to be made cause it doesn't explained how Big Boss turned. Guns of the Patriot had a lot of plot holes, more questions than answers. I don't get why people can't conceptualize that. Reading comprehension isn't really your thing.

Remember when he said he was done after MSG4 but came back. You can't take anything Kojima says seriously. Even if he's done with it Konami sure as hell isn't going to let that cash cow up and quit.

tman73023334d ago

He said he wouldn't produced or director another Metal Gear Solid game after 4. Now he is saying, this is the last game in the "Metal Gear Solid" saga. Not the brightest apple of the orchard I see.

assdan3335d ago

It probably should be, but I think this is the second or third time he's said that, so...

Spenok3334d ago

Even if he DID say this, you pretty much can't believe it. Considering he has said this for every major MGS release since MGS1.... so,yeah... I'll believe that never. Though, I can see him finally passion the franchise off, but not it being THE last. So in other words HIS last, not the last.

Killustrious3334d ago

Pretty sure it was said that Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to be last main entry also. It's honestly probably one of my favorite series in gaming history, but it needs to end at some point just like everything else does.

ThunderPulse3334d ago

Don't forget Solid isn't the only Metal Gear series there were others like Acid and online.

Kidmyst3334d ago

Final Metal Gear Solid but not final Metal Gear. Maybe games where you play as Revolver Oscelot or something would be cool.

Tsar4ever013334d ago (Edited 3334d ago )

Yeah huh, And years back Kojima said that MGS4 was the last and final Metal Gear. We'll see how MGS5 does in review poles and sales, and that'll determine whether or not they'll be anymore Metal Gears.

deecee333328d ago

Probably won't be the last one, but it'd be cool if he started a new universe of games in the action vein. If it is the last one, the MGS story has been nothing short of epic, great games since the NES.

PoSTedUP3335d ago

kojima said that about MGS4. ›_›. whatevs, i hope its not.

LonDonE3335d ago

Exactly i have lost count how many times kojima said "this the last mgs" lol
Konami will never allow it, kojima and mgs is keeping konami allive.

Trust we will get another MGS after phantom pain.

PoSTedUP3335d ago

Kojima troll 102: get fans dissapointed---> smack em in the face with excitement.

Kojima troll 101: get fans excited---> smack em in the face with dissapointment.

kojimas the man, but hes kinda messed up sometimes :)

WildArmed3335d ago

I still think he needs to do a MG1 remake before he leaves.

Metal Gear 1 is such a crucial part in the story, and one that is the most primitive installment of the MGS franchise as well.

I want the farewell of MGS to be with Solid and the Big boss.

And i'll cry... again. Till the screen after the loading screen shows up -___-

Heyxyz3335d ago

MGS is what's keeping Konami alive in the west. There will be a MGS 6.

snookiegamer3335d ago (Edited 3335d ago )

"Konami would never allow it"?!? LOL What, you think they own his AS# or something?? ....What a Dumb comment!!

Anyway, if he didn't receive death threats from mentally unstable gamers, then maybe MGS4 would have been 'his' last. ....A little research prior to commenting wouldn't go amiss ;/

_-EDMIX-_3335d ago

not likely. He's stated this many times before and he also stated he wanted to work on a remake of MG1 and 2.

mt3335d ago

he said that about MGS2 as well.

Ratty3335d ago

He also said that about 2 and 3. The thing is, Kojima needs to believe it's his last one so that he gives it his all and "ends it" with a huge bang. That's just how he works.

It's my favorite series but if it's the last one so be it. If not, I'll be happy all the same.

sashimi3335d ago

he said it'll be the final MGSolid game to him even if there are more after MGSV.

Summons753335d ago

In a way you can tell. He's pulling out all the stops, tying up loose ends, making it big as he can get. I can't see MGS being any good without him though.

OrangePowerz3335d ago

All the loose ends had been tied up with MGS4 for me personally. With the new additions it just gets more confusing and put of line with canon. Snake having a prosthetic arm is a prime example, there was never any talk about that in the MG or MGS games.

Joe9133335d ago (Edited 3335d ago )

He may want to quit but I doubt Konami would let him they could get someone else to do them though. I rather see him redo MG1 & 2 before quitting though.

PowerPlayaaa3335d ago

He said that when he did metal gear snake eater for the ps2.
I highly doubt that this is the last metal gear game from hideo kojima.

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara168d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga184d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19184d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19184d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq184d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger184d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder184d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils184d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder184d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85184d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

1nsomniac184d ago

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420184d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim184d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo184d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
