Tantalus’ Wii U port will be announced soon, coming out this year, studio’s biggest project yet

NE: "Last year, we heard that Tantalus Media – the developer behind Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s Wii U versions – started work on a “AAA next-gen title” for Nintendo’s console. It was confirmed soon after that the project in question was a port/rework of a game “for an absolute top notch publisher.”"

I wonder what it is... Since they worked on Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex port then its probably a third person shooter.

Good, they did a good job with Mass Effect and Deus Ex.

wonderfulmonkeyman3345d ago

Deus Ex, I can agree with.

But if I were Tantalus, I would have refused to port over any form of Mass Effect other than the Collection.

The interactive comic book simply did not make up for two full game's worth of character grown and crew interactions.
It should have been the collection that Tantalus worked on. Not ME3 alone.

...
Oh...
Horrifying thought; what if the game this time actually IS the Mass Effect collection?!

I hope it's not...I REALLY hope it's not...
That would be one of the worst cases of "too little too late" in a VERY long time...

"But if I were Tantalus, I would have refused to port over any form of Mass Effect other than the Collection."

No you wouldnt. They need to put bread on the table, they'll take any job they can. Especially since they learned the hardware with ME3. Plus they're way too small to port three games to new hardware.

deafdani3345d ago

Speak for yourself. I, for one, would buy a ME Trilgy for Wii U. And I've already bought the three games separately for Xbox 360, and the trilogy for PS3.

Yup, I love me some Mass Effect. My favorite third party franchise bar none. ^_^

MilkMan3345d ago

Wonder what it is? AND what WiiU title is getting ported?!

wonderfulmonkeyman3345d ago (Edited 3345d ago )

Tantalus....what the heck are you....

Okay, I'm just going to put this out there; I don't know whether or not to trust them on this.

Why? For one reason:
Hearing the word "Port" in regards to a third party Wii U game, sends chills of horror down my spine these days.

The last few times we got ports of any sort of multiplat, they were missing content, or poorly optimized, or late, or lacking long-term patch support, or the developers had done/said something to piss off the Wii U fanbase before it hit the market.[Looking at you, Ubisoft, you m*****-******s.]

To be fair, though, I don't have anything against Tantalus itself.
Deus Ex, I loved. It did lack some DLC weaponry and stuff that the PC version got, but the core game was very well done, and the use of the game pad on the game was absolutely top-notch.

But Mass Effect 3....
Well, I know that Tantalus didn't decide how it was brought over, so I'm not blaming Tantalus for it, but an interactive comic book isn't a good enough replacement for two full game's worth of content, which the collector's edition of the series would have given us had it been brought over instead.
I dunno if Tantalus objecting to that would have changed EA's mind on it or anything...

But in the case of both ME3 and Deus Ex, they were both old games at the time. There was no way a late port of either was going to sell spectacularly.

My point is, I'm cautious.
VERY cautious.

I spent the first year of the Wii U's life supporting as many third party multiplats as my finances would allow, praying that my contribution would earn the system more games done right down the line.

Third parties burned and betrayed me, as if in spite of my patronage, with the way they handled most of their ports.

It's gonna take a LOT to get me to open my wallet up to third party ports again after that amount of two-faced shenanigans.

kwandar3345d ago

All that being said, I view Deus Ex as being one of the best, if not THE BEST port to the Wii U.

Well worth the money, and I think I now need to go play it again!

I'm seeing rumors Tantalus are porting Bayonetta 2 to PS4. If that is true I expect to see Last of US ported to Wii U ;)

wonderfulmonkeyman3345d ago (Edited 3345d ago )

Those rumors are false unless Nintendo is paying them to do it, because Nintendo owns rights to Bay 2.XD
Heck, Kamiya has stated no less than 3 different times that Bayonetta 2 doesn't go to any other system unless Nintendo says so.

Edit: The rumors are a sourceless troll statement from 4Chan.
HA, okay.XD

kwandar3345d ago

@wonderfulmonkeyman

I suspect they are false too, but ...

.... I have to admit that the idea of Nintendo providing one of its good properties to Sony while the PS4 is starved of content, and Sony providing one of its good properties to Wii U which is started of 3rd party ... where they both make money from sales ... isn't that stupid a proposition.

XiMasterChief3345d ago

@Kwanader

I hope to god they don't provide their property to Sony. Most people have the Wii U for the exclusive games. Bringing those to PS4/X1 is just basically destroying the Wii U.

Ol_G3345d ago

I understand what you say and i agree but they can't say no to a job in the case of mass effect 3 it's just as Concertoine already said they need to put bread on the table

Sgt_Slaughter3345d ago

Just don't jip players from content that was available when the game first came out on the previous consoles, and you're golden.

That genuinely, genuinely sucks. The reboot has clear flaws, but it really felt like a solid first step for this team to receive *greater* investment.

Alone in the dark is a fun game so that's unfortunate

Something about recreating old school graphics in an era of HD high poly photo realism just hits a spot. I'm not nostalgic cause I mostly played GameCube and GB/A, but it's a visual style that gets over looked even by indies.

Definitely a fan project. Terrible hand animations. Some characters have very bad body proportions. Some look like little kids in adult bodies. Some have short arms, small head, big hips and so on.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos2h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
