The disappointing release of The Order: 1886 has kicked off all sorts of debates and discussions about game length, review scores, ‘cinematic’ gameplay and quick-time events over the past few weeks. It’s a touchstone that can lead to a dissection of many things that ail the gaming industry at present, yet I find myself looking at is as more worrisome evidence that the two biggest players in the console space, PS4 and Xbox One, are losing their touch when it comes to creating and/or cultivating exclusives for their platform.
Golf With Your Friends gets better again, with the introduction of a Critical Hit DLC pack and the launch of Speed Golf.
Between its innovative puzzles, impressive presentation, and undefeated vibes, Cocoon needs to be experienced on Xbox Game Pass and beyond.
A remake of MediEvil 2 may be getting shadow dropped at the rumored PlayStation Showcase or State of Play presentation in May, 2024.
What, I thought this was dead after Shawn Layden left Sony. I would definitely pick this up if it's true. I have such great memories of playing the MediEvil games on PS1 and I played the PS4 remake. Such a great and underrated series.
Such a good series I also wish Sony would dust off Wild Arms and Legend of Dargoon even the Legend series needs to see the light again.
My bets on new Socom and/or Wolverine (since Deadpool 3 is dropping in the summer).
I think one after this state of play will be PS5 pro preorder
TBH the problem with console exclusives is lack of longevity. They dont have mod support hence there are no newer creative ideas, devs to tend to stick with what works. Obviously this is done with the intention to be able to sell DLCs.
Hence console exclusives are usually short lived, I have recently been playing Teamfortress 2 again, i might have over 1000 hours on it now. Yet the game just doesnt get old on PC, different game every 6 months. I think consoles need some of that not to mention they need BC so people can build a library, sadly that probably wont happen since platforms change and devs would hate it if older games were still playable on consoles (Sony MS included).
While I want to be disappointed in current gen gaming, I realize this gen is still very young and many developers are still just getting out of last gen.
Unfortunately I do think we are going to see fewer exclusives this gen because game budgets are bloating exponentially and it just doesn't pay to remain on one console (or just PC). With that said, I am not entirely sure how I would feel about that.
Just give me the games.
Wow, one not so good exclusive and these writers think this gen is a failure.
It's still early. New IP is gonna be a toughy but not exclusives. Order and Bloodborn aren't exactly looking like Uncharted or God of War quality but like I said, it's early yet.
Delusional til the end. Using history as the ultimate litmus test, it is quite clear that there is one console that will continue to deliver quality, exclusive content and the other will rely heavily of 3rd parties and multiplatform games. The evidence is there, denying it won't change it, it just makes you look like a nut.
Now for anyone who wants to say that Titanfall is an exclsuive even though it's available on PC and 360, then you must include TLOU Remastered as well as other games to the "exclusives" club.
