PS4 Users Facing CE-32937-4 and SU-30709-9 Error with 2.04 FW Update

PS4 firmware update 2.04 is now live but there is a problem with it and many users are unable to download the update as it ends in an error or keeps randomly stopping.

Well many times windows forces you to download an update and install it.

I wish I could stop my computer from doing that because it seems like every time I turn it on I have to install some useless update.

Not true, you can always disable updates completely if wanted. Even then its not like you cant use all your PC functions without taking an update lol.

Its funny how people used to complain PCs need updates all the time, yet its consoles now having the updates problem and whats funnier you cant use the console without the update.

Seriously though, it'd be nice if the errors came with a friendly message as well. "Software update unsuccessful, please reset your console and call support if the problem is not resolved" or something fitting so people have the foggiest idea what is wrong.

You can turn off Automatic updates on Windows, though it's not recommended. As long as you have every single update installed, you should only be installing Windows updates 1-2 times a month and even then only a few at a time. Just as a side note, the second Tuesday of every month (sometimes the fourth too), usually referred to as Patch-Tuesday, is when Microsoft releases monthly security patches for Windows and your computer will forcibly restart after installing them. I usually never keep anything important open on my machine around these times of the month because I know the updates are going to download, install and restart.

I advise keeping Windows updates on, because the longer you go without them, the worse off you are in both security as well as the time it will take to manually install them should you decide to go for that option. Just NEVER let Windows install updated drivers for anything not manufactured by Microsoft, e.g. your graphics, wireless, audio, and motherboard drivers. If you have a Surface tablet, everything inside is proprietary to Microsoft, so it is OK in this case alone to let them install driver updates.

I manually update my motherboard and graphics drivers directly from what is available from the individual manufacturers to avoid stability issues. I only use BETA drivers when absolutely necessary (I had to use BETA AMD drivers for a while until Skyrim got SLI/Crossfire support for example).

In wibdows 8.1 you nget these 3 options..

1)update and shut down
2)update and restart
3)shut down

Also I am not paying every year for windows! I won't be paying for windows 10 at all!

Windows forces me to restart my PC to install the update so in a sense I can't use my computer without installing it.

At least it warns you ahead of time but it is annoying. At least I never have to worry about installing updates on my PS4 since it does that automatically.

Are you new to pc? You don't need to update, just set to download and allow you to install the update later that way you don't have to restart the computer or just just off the update all together problem solved

My PS4 has been freezing up and lagging whenever I'm playing physical copies of games lately..anyone got any idea what's up with it? I've had it since launch and it's never frozen or lagged until a few weeks back.

Any background apps running? YouTube hulk Netflix all run in background. Also try cleaning unwanted data like share play clips or game memory you no longer use. Lastly clean it if your haven't. I had mine at launch and its worked like a charm...but I do clean it once a month or so.

That's a negative. I don't even have Netflix and Youtube downloaded so it can't be that. I do have quite a lot of screenshots and clips from Call of Duty though so that might be causing some of the trouble. I might have to do a quick initialization just to clean it up like you said. PS. go to the system debug menu, and get it to redo file system or whatever the option todo with file system is. (I forget it's name) that should fix your problem I think... edit: rebuild database is what it's caled I believe.

I thought it was that too so I cleaned it and moved it out on top of the television stand so it can breath and get fresh air but nope nothing. I'm gonna try deleting anything I don't use or need and maybe with this update it should get it back up to snuff.

Yes it's is 90 percent of the time the hard drive slowing up, and this happens whenever you get to over 50 percent filled on the drive because even if you play disc games, the PS4-

is installing a very huge file for each game disc or digital, does not matter, the install on hard drive is still huge.

--I can't go into a long explanation on how hard drives work, but lets just say delete as much as you can of things you don't need, games you no longer play and capture files (videos you might have saved and forgot about) that are taking up huge space that you don't need anymore.--

Then when you have done all that -Re-Activate your Licenses→ go to your Settings/ Select (PSN) / then Re-Activate your Licenses

This I promise you will speed you back up..

When you say playing "physical copies", do you have digital copies that work without issue?

Physical copies install onto the hard drive and play in exactly the same way as digital copies, the disc is only used to install and then validate ownership. The only exception is when you first play the game, as you can play while still installing and that could make a difference to read speeds.

Just pointing that out because the idea that it happens with physical copies might be a bit of a red herring, so if you have the means to test (ie some digital games and some more physical games) you might find your issue is wider, or if you're lucky, narrowed down to just one or two games...

Mate unfortunately it sounds like u have corrupted data on ur hard drive which happens if u turn off ur ps4 suddenly while its saving like during a sudden power cut.

Any how this is how u fix it:
First thing u should do is upload all your game save data to psn plus cloud so they r backed up, this can be done through settings, then system storage management, then select the data, triangle then upload to psn plus

Then the next step may cause you to lose all ur data hence why u backed up ur seaves to psn plus cloud which ur ps4 does automaticaly but best to do it 2 b sure

Hold down the power button it will beep,turn but still hold till it beeps twice after the first beep this is safe mode

Then go through and do every step that shouuld fix if not contact sony

I also have mine and i never had that problem. If cleaning doesent work go to safe mode (2 beeps) and rebuild database. Its a defrag for the ps4, im sure that will fix it...

Boot up the PS4 in safe mode and choose the option "rebuild the database" (it basically defrags the PS4) this should fix your problem.

I sometime got that laggy from fifa 15 as well (not online lag) during career mode in the menu it move very slow, but after I delete some screen shot and game that finished it doesn't give that lag anymore

Had the su-30709-9 error....fixed.
I simply logged out and logged back in and tried again. Worked on first try.
Protip: I also use this method when the psn store doesn't work.
Just log out then immediately log back in.

Hold the power button on your PS4 for few seconds till you hear a second beep - choose Option 3 Update System Software option-- it will download the update and install it from there, after the installation luckily you'll be booted into normal mode.

I never got one of these errors, 9 out of 10 times when I turn my ps4 on the update is already downloaded waiting to be installed.
I just install it and that's it.
