Why would you use full? Typically that's for PC monitors not tv. Most tvs are set to limited by default.

I don't know what TV you have, but every TV in my household, as well as my friends, all support full RGB and look MUCH better when you have it turned on. I've been using full RGB since I first got my PS3.

You gain nothing by doing this except you are tricking yourself into thinking it's better.

If you just calibrated your TV's color, brightness, etc, properly, you could get a much better image.

If you set the RGB range to full the result will be crushed blacks and loss of detail in the shadow areas. The blacks may appear darker but at a significant cost.

TVs use a video range from 16-235. They are not designed to display the full spectrum of 0-255. The Full setting is designated for PCs and the Limited setting is for TVs.

If you think that setting RGB range to full makes the PS4 version look better then you're fooling yourself. In this case limited does not mean worse.

At 7:53, they're both Xbox One. You can tell because earlier, doors are opened with square on PS4, but in this one, it's opened with "X". If the buttons were mapped the same on both versions, then the corresponding button on X1 would be "A".

@inveni0 i was initially going to call u paranoid but after looking at them for a few seconds and checking out the controllers themselves u might be onto something.... like the X on the two shots are the same but on the controllers they're different and 99.9999% of the time the game will use the button styling of the console it's on.

Correct, RGB Full Range does create crushed blacks.

If limited seems washed out it's because the display isn't calibrated correctly; virtually all displays are badly calibrated out of the box. This is because they're calibrated to look brighter and more colourful next to other displays in a show room, not in your living room.

There was a brief period during which I was obsessed with the image quality of my displays. I took classes on calibration and purchased my own tools (colorimeter and software) in order to dial in the perfect image.

The majority of TVs that I encounter are set up incorrectly. "Hey, turn up the saturation, sharpness and contrast to 100. That looks great!". So, it's no surprise that most people are ignorant in regard to proper RGB settings.

I find it ironic that there are so many people on N4G that proclaim "image quality in games is king" yet they are playing these games on poorly calibrated TVs.

I own ps4 n Xbox one, son has X1 other son has ps4, so we downloaded the game to my X1 n downloaded sons on ps4, both are hooked to our 2014 LG hdtv... I can assure you that no one can tell the difference in the two,... If you set n try to pick out the difference then you don't need to be gaming,...
I'm sure it will start now that they lower it to X1 n made it same for the ps4, after playing all the games we have ps4 has nothing over X1...the difference are in 1st party games..ps4 1st party games looks little better then 3 party X1 games, BUT!!!! X1 1st party games looks just as good as ps4 1st party games,....there not a enough difference for any gamer to say I'm buying ps4 or X1 cause the games look better....

Well, if you must know, I have friends on both systems that I want to play with and I budgeted myself for Dying Light and Evolve, since I canceled Evolve due to the B.S. associated with the game I decided to indulge myself with both sets of friends instead of choosing one over the other.

Well in all honestly, why do any of us "need" any game or console for that matter let alone mutli copies?

Last gen the gap between 360 and PS3 was a lot bigger then this gen AT FIRST. Once some good studios got experience with the PS3, you might even say the PS3 had a few games that looked better then anything on 360. But for about 2 years the PS3 was difficult to program for.

Last gen we were talking about 480p vs 720p. This gen we are talking about 900p vs 1080p. Anyone that knows anything about Video knows TV/Cable/VHS to DVD was a much bigger step then DVD to 720p broadcast, and that 720p/1080p broadcast to Bluer a was even smaller. Now most professional video reviewers say you have to sit closer closer then 10 feet, and have a bigger then 50" TV to see the difference between Blueray and 4k.

I have 3 primary TVs. A $2,000 - 108 inch 1080p Epson projector with a $5,000 screen that I sit about 8 feet from. A 50" Samsung plasma I sit about 6 feet from (office). And a 65" 1080p Panny plasma I sit 15 feet from (bedroom). I also have a 30 inch 1440p I sit 2 feet from (PC). On the projector I can see a big difference in broadcast vs blueray. On the 65" plasma, not so much. On the 1440p monitor resolution really matters.

The point is, 900p vs 1080p is indistinguishable to the average person. I wouldn't be able to see the difference on my 50" and MAYBE I could see it on my 108" if I paused and looked really hard at one part of the screen.

For all you know, the X1 could only do 34FPS Max while the PS4 could do 50FPS max but instead of dealing with screen tearing and other performance issues, they decided to lock it to 30FPS on both.

The parity clause isn't about the look of the game. It's about content and release day of a game. Content has to be equal or more on the Xbox, outside of contracts which allow one console to have exclusive content, like with some Ubisoft AC games for instance.

Day and date is that a game has to release on the same day, or before it releases on other consoles, again barring some contract for exclusivity.

Any other talk about forced graphical parity is all speculation, as it's never been confirmed to have been MS doing anything underhanded.

I preferred 360 over PS3 last gen and I always thought they were stupid. All of the big 3 systems bring something unique to the table. I do not require the entire world's approval to validate my purchase nor do I care if the PS4 version has a minimally higher gpu.

The bench tests from Digital Foundry have proven time and again that whatever advantage the PS4 has over the XB1 is extremely low and isn't always apparent in every game. Did the slightly better performance of the 360 in most games stop PS3 owners from enjoying the same games on their PS3s? No. Did it stop Sony from selling a crap ton of PS3s? NO.

This generation has been an anomaly already in itself. 360 outsold initially last gen. PS4 is outselling this gen so far. PS4 and XB1 have both set records for their companies first year of a new console. WTF does it matter if there is an extra tree or a few more blades of grass. XB1 games look really good and PS4 games look a nipple hair better. big deal. I own both consoles and when I am playing my XB1 I never say to myself "This looks like sh** compared to my PS4."

For a lot of people Sony exclusives are their favorite games and for others MS exclusives are their favorite. I personally do not like the controller layout and feel of the PS4 controller. I prefer the XB controller. I definitely do not like the battery life of the PS4 controller either. I have no option of turning the LED off on the controller and when using a headset I have to charge the controller every day about.

I also do not like the PS4 interface. I like everything to be in it's place and not just an endless line of icons that I have to scroll through to get to what I want.

I bought the PS4 because I love Uncharted and Little Big Planet. Because of that I put up with these inconveniences and hassles in order to enjoy those franchises. The XB1 has slightly lower graphics than the PS4. But I love Halo, Gears of War, and Fable. I love its controller and all of its integration with my cable TV and Kinect voice controls.

The point behind all of this is that, in this day and age, it isn't only the console's ability to play a particular game that calculates it's worth. There are definite pros and cons for each console. So to just write one off solely due to its barely inferior resolution is a rather ignorant thing to do.

There are easily 5 or 6 factors that decide a console purchase for me and I seriously doubt I am the only person that is that way. It comes down to what you like the most. I have found that people who are insistent on bashing your console purchase are usually those people that have to correct you in the middle of a conversation because you mispronounced a word.

This PR Game is Muted, because the game has Taken a turn for the worse, and the PR Media of mainly a Pro backed NON JAPANESE RAN GAMING COMPANY PRODUCT already see the writing on the wall, because last time the the certain platform was seen as the underdog in this market , but many tried to play it off after the game as if they were the Market Leader. with the fact the company in Question only had 1 product in the market, while the two Japanese Companies/ both had 3 or more products in the market.

Even worse still this gen, the NON JAPANESE ran company still only has two products in this pat of the market, while the two Japanese ran companies both have 5 or more products in this part of the market.

The Puffer Fishing is quite front and center, there is just no larger sales Gap to try to make in the Media for PR purpose to try to make it seem the Non Japanese ran Game Companies product to be the main Product to move software. Instead this Generation, there was no lead by over a year to get to the market, there was no price advantage, there was no "much easier to develop for" there was no clear defined advantage this time on the Astroturf.

And with the way things are going, the PR game is getting set for the next cycle game.

Well Eurogamer does give a more detailed analysis on framerate and bugs than gamingbolt does. Which is why I use them a lot to determine if a game runs well on my PS4. I can imagine that for multiconsole owners it would be important for them as well since the majority of them want to buy the best version on consoles if they don't have decent gaming PC.

The bad thing about comparisons is that they always cause conflict in the forums. But that's due to the idiots who are incapable of accepting the final analysis. PC always gets declared as the superior version but you never see me complain about it.

comparisons between multiplats don't really determine which console is more powerful. if anything, it just shows how competent or incompetent a developer is at optimizing for each console. that's what exclusives are for. a3rd party developer might choose which one they prefer but that doesn't mean that console is more powerful.

I have it on Xbone, to much motion blur, details look good until you move, and umm that's kind of the point of the game. You won't be sitting still much at all, the game looks much better on PS4, my GF swears by it and I think I may sell my Xbone and just use her PS4. She's a huge Zombie fan. The Xbox has better colors, and crushed blacks IMO. But the AA, AF, draw distance and a few other things just are not as good, and the picture isn't nearly as "crisp" you might say. I'm tired of Xbox's mushy dull looking picture on a lot of games. Even with the freed up ESDRAM, doesn't make much difference. Even Microsfots CEO admitted that the upcoming Direct X 12 isn't going to make any jaw dropping difference in performance or graphics. That should be a sign. Also I like the Exculsives better on PS4, I do like Titanfall a lot, but can play that on my old 360, not a huge difference. Sorry guys gotta go with the power under the hood on this one. Xbox started behind, and will finsh behind. Unfortunate.

Let me end this very quickly, games and graphics are about advances in technology, not de-vancing as I call it, no it's not a word. I've worked on computers for many years and seen what the gaming rigs I'VE built can do. That being said the PS4 is now the closest thing you can get for the price, that is remotely close to a mid/high range PC. The Xbox is even further behind by using a GPU (graphics card) that is equivalent to a 7770, which is around 79$ to 99$. Microsoft just learned how to utilize it for the Xbox One a little better. But it still won't run at high resolutions, with high textures. Medium is all you're going to get. I don't care how much RAM it has, freeing up ESDRAM, which is pretty irrelevant. Sony did their homework and it shows, the GPU in it is equivalent to just slightly above the Nvidia GTX 660 which is correctly about 50% or even more effective with AA, AO, FXAA, textures, bitmapping, draw distance etc. Go to hardware compare on google and see the differences in performance charts. I might also it's a card that ranges still, anywhere from 179$ up to around 249$. So if you want great graphics, and a future proof system get the PS4. If you want a system that is a bit behind, but has "good" graphics, and more multimedia advantages by all means get an Xbone. The proof is in the pudding as they say, you can't argue with that. Type in GTX 660 vs ATI 7770, on google. Then look for hardwarecompare, click on it to see the results. Thanks!!
