If anyone has noticed, Phil Spencer has been praising Steam, including during the recent Windows 10 event, where he said he was a big Steam customer, and then went on to show Steam working within the Xbox App.

I'm wondering if he is trying to court Valve behind the scenes in order for them to give Xbox console exclusivity with Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3, or even Half Life 3. Interesting times ahead, that's for sure.

The only thing that's even slightly interesting to me on Xbox is quantum break. Quantum break looks good and has an interesting story, but if all it has is the one trick pony of slowing time down by different amounts, I'm not to sure it will be a fun game. I'm also skeptical about it because it's made by the same studio that made Max Payne, and I got so bored playing through it I didn't finish it.

Another rehash of gears and halo makes me bored just thinking about it. I primarily play single player and occasionally multiplayer. Scream Ride just looks plain stupid. Scale bound looks good, but it looks like 2016 will be when it comes out.

Maybe it's just me, but there is very little that currently interests me on the Xbox.

OT: Actually they do have a lot to defend. As it stands, the PS lineup is far greater and Sony still has tons of first party exclusives to announce yet. With the sales gap getting larger by the day, MS needs to step their game up our get even further eclipsed. At this rate, PS will be close to 35-40 buy the thnx of the year even without their major exclusives our a price drop. This will likely equate to 18-25 million console lead over the xbox. Please explain again why they in such a great position? Dx12 will have little to no impact on the xbox, even if the devs attempt to use their resources for it. Win 10 the same, and nothing that Sony didn't already have with remote play and vita. Also, holo lens? Really? This will have very limited applications for games and is years behind vr, especially in terms of release. All the gimmicks you're desperately trying to use ate not going to do anything. I would agree as Valve would likely favor Sony for several reasons.

More PS4 exist.

Sony is MORE open to open source and allowing a bit more on PSN, ie free to play ,cross play etc.

MS doesn't allow this unless its under many, many conditions.

Example, the didn't let Epic give free Gears Of War maps, even though at the time it was Epic's IP.

MS won't allow free to plays ...unless its under Gold, where Sony sees free to play, as FREE TO PLAY, not PSN Plus required.

Sony is again ,more open to PS3, PS4 and PC play as they've done many times in the past.

Valve as of late has favored Sony, with Portal 2's PC play with PSN and with Counter Strike GO, so its very, very likely that even if it is, it will be likely only on PS4, if it ever was to be exclusive to any system, which I actually don't think it will be for just soooooo many reason.

So I don't see it being exclusive to anyone 1 system...that is just such a XBOT dream its not even funny, they better start hoping for MS to actually make games vs pipe dreams of money hats lol, sorry but those days have been over for a while.

The only game that I feel has got mass appeal is Uncharted 4.. and that's not out till the end of the year.

XO has a solid lineup of it's own. it doesn't need sequels from 360 titles to "defend" against PS4.

That's funny RosweeSon, you didn't mention one game in your little tirade. the Fro is correct, Uncharted is the main Sony exclusive this year that has mass appeal. Nobody knows how good The Order 1886 is actually going to be, and I suspect that judging by the reception so far, reviews will be mixed.

You can round sales numbers up and down by several million until you're green in the face, but the truth is that the PS4's catalogue of games has nothing that stands out, other than Infamous: Second Sun, The Last of Us remastered, and a whole lot of indie games which are available on PC and even the PS3 in some cases anyway. In fact, I not only own The Last of Us on PS3, I also just bought Resogun on PS3 :)

I dont care for the current PS4 lineup. Outside of Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne theres nothing for ME to be excited about on ps4. The same can be said for my X1 tho. This is a pretty stupid list.

PGR will probably never come out despite it being a solid racer. Xbox has Forza/ Forza Horizon series and IMO they are excellent. Fill out the roster with some multiplats-racing is taken care of.

Evolve is coming out this year. Not an exclusive, but will probably scratch the L4D itch, after all it's made by Turtle Rock. It may not be exactly, but zombie games aplenty- Dying Light and Dead Island 2 will be out this year.

Gears of War sequel is in development already. It's ETA is in question, but it will arrive sometime.

There is no shortage of games. Everyone will find something to play. New Fallout is on my wishlist

So if the Xbox One needs these games, and they either aren't going to get them, or won't get for another 2 1/2-3 years, you start getting the idea that this article was not well thought out.

Basically the only thing on this list that is even valid from the author's perspective is a new Blue Dragon, which last we checked, isn't even in development.

So what happens when the Xbox One needs these games NOW and EXCLUSIVE, but there is no shot in hell of it happening?

To compete you need games starting first quarter of 2015, not end of 2016 and beyond.

I'm sure we'll hear more, they have to have something up their sleeves, but no it doesn't look good, and that exclusive pipeline looks like it still needs to be built for a couple of years before anything starts flowing through it.

It's not a question of "amount" of exclusives. It comes down to quality and time of release. Microsoft's schedule is a little lopsided. Sony's is balanced, but after not having many exclusives (LBP 3/ Driveclub?) released during 2014 holiday window. Sony relied on multiplats.

what exactly is Sonys huge lineup? Bloodborne, the order, no mans sky and...maybe uncharted. Xbone has forza 6, halo 5, tomb raider, quantum break....seems to stack against ps4 pretty good

It stacks up to me.

Diehard Sony fans might think otherwise, but really it's apples to oranges. I don't have interest in games from FROM Software, so Bloodbourne isn't on my radar (I know it's a totally different game than Dark Souls/Otogi, but also don't have a PS4 either- so pretty cut n dry). I think the Order looks pretty cool though. Hasn't got too many favorable previews, but they're previews. Not a representation of the FULL Final finished product. Unchartered will be great. A venerable franchise. No Man's Sky is generating the buzz. Sony having that exclusive stings abit. Maybe I'll get it for the PC (If it can handle it).

Quantum Break looks interesting, but nothing really grabs me from what I've seen. Looks fairly linear (unchartered is too)- graphics are good looking, gameplay looks Max Payneish with more variation. Remedy has an excellent track record with Max Payne/ Alan Wake. Will buy if reviewed well. Hope Halo 5 sets a new standard for the franchise. MCC was a mess and 343 needs to deliver. Fable Legends disappoints me, but will reserve judgement for final product. Upset it isn't an actual Fable game. Feel like they watered it down instead of doing a proper bigger, badder sequel. May give Tomb Raider a shot. Never played the recent reboot, but reviewed favorably. Don't know if Forza 6 will release this year, but I'm crossing my fingers. Video at Ford Auto Show sure looked slick. I think Dan Greenwalt said gameplay to drop at e3. Maybe it's farther along than I thought. Hope there is some Hololens integration too. Holographic HUD in cockpit view?

No one finds it weird that sony has sold 20(n4g numbers) to xbox ones 10 million and yet the 2 biggest selling games are on xbox 1? (destiny and call of duty:AW) how is it sony has a 2:1 hardware lead but software sales are in favor of xbox one?

direct x12 will improve xbox,but the funny thing is the xbox as is is perfectly fine,whats the last game that ran better on ps4? it's becoming more clear the xbox api's just needed fine tuning.

Sony fans are loving this argument "xbox has nothing till fall" ...You do remember both the order and bloodborne were delayed right? You do know the first 5 months of the year are practically a death sentence for games especially new ip's. The order and bloodborne will duplicate the success of infamous,they will be duds. Not sure sony sent these games to die,the order was d.o.a anyways with no multiplayer mode,at best its a rental.

Tell me more about this sony amazing 2015. It was the same people saying 2014 was going to be amazing with infamous:ss,driveclub,the last of remastered and little big plaent 3. Seems pretty lack luster when 2 of the 4 are on ps3 already. Then you throw int he crappy battery draining controller,crappy newtwork boring psp interface and the ps4 is killing them in 2015,yeah right. Quantum break alone will destory anything sony has this year,we wont even get into forza 6,fable legends and tomb raider on top of all the other news we'll learn from e3.

The Battletoads thing will be cool. A GOOD Perfect Dark would sell a ton. A new Conker, Kameo 2, for sure Gears, Halo, TR, etc etc ... Microsoft will be just fine. And if Sony ends up with more exclusives you want, then save for a PS4.. no harm. I have an Xbox One, a PC, and maybe one day I'll get a PS4, but we'll see.

Xbox doesn't need to defend against PS. What MS needs to do is release their exclusives throughout the year, instead of mostly Fall & Winter. Anything else is subject to people's opinions about what they like and dislike.

Thinking Xbox doesn't have games is ridiculous just as much as saying PS doesn't have any.

Gears is a given. Left 4 Dead is unlikely, or at least unlikely anytime soon considering Turtle Rock is about to release Evolve. Unless, of course, MS owns the IP and assigns it to another studio, but I'm not sure if they do or not. Gotham Racing is also unlikely considering MS is pumping out multiple Forzas every year. And I wouldn't hold your breath on Mass Effect being exclusive, but, then again, I wouldn't put much of anything past MS when it comes to money-hatting.

The only reason the L4D games weren't on the PS3 is because Valve didn't like the architecture, so there isn't any reason to assume that L4D3 won't be on PS4.

Aside from the usual suspects (ie Halo 5 and Gears 4), I would think securing some kind of exclusivity for Mass Effect 4 or a new Kotor would be a good move for them.

They have been bringing new IPs (Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, and Scalebound), but I think they need more bigger new IPs. The former two didn't pull crazy numbers, and I don't expect the latter two will either. They need to find their Halo/Gears for this generation. Also, new Banjo and Conker.

Wow this article is horrid. They offer a single paragraph on six games on six pages full of adds. The paragraphs are so nondescript it isn't even worth looking at. Can we get this taken down, because frankly it is useless?

But they didn't really hold anything back the last couple years. They announced Halo 5 back at E3 2013 then last year they announced Crackdown and other far off projects just to create an illusion of even being close on exclusives. they can't sustain that as the release dates keep getting further off. Meanwhile Sony continues to floor people by announcing within the year like with LBP3 (announced in June, released in November) and Bloodborne (released within a year of announcement). MS may announce some 2017 games this E3 to try to convince people they're keeping up. Oh yeah and another Forza obviously (which Xbox fanboys will act like it's a big surprise even though they knew it was coming like everyone else since it is now the Madden of exclusives). The Show and Forza are the big yearly franchises for each. listwar.com shows the imbalance even with this far off announcement mentality of MS.
