It's called being perfectionists. That's why they are as good and successful as they are.

x5exotic3391d ago

Wish I could say the same for the fanbase of Uncharted.

Savsky3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

Maybe I live under a rock, but what's wrong with the UC fanbase? I'm a part of it, as UC2 was one of my favorite games ever. (The singleplayer and multiplayer were both better than UC3.) But the trilogy is fantastic.

aCasualGamer3391d ago

Well ofcourse there is a flaw with Last of Us...

...it's too god damn short! I want moooooooore!!!

...because it's so god damn good!

Kumomeme3388d ago

hideo kojima also been called perfectionist
lot more devs being called this if i not mistaken
they do the best for their works, and the result is impressive

Infamous2983391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

It's good to see a developer acknowledging flaws of their game.

Gazondaily3391d ago

The AI was the biggest flaw for me especially after the way ND hyped it up.

Other than that, I struggle to find things wrong with the game.

DeadMansHand3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

One flaw I noticed is that Clickers use sonar to see. That means they omit a click and it will bounce off anything moving, yet, the game says they find you by hearing movement. So you can walk slow right up to one while he is clicking and they can't see you. That is a major flaw.

medman3390d ago

@septic
I have no idea why you're getting so many disagrees...the a.i. was sketchy at times..it was funny and at times annoying how Ellie would make noise/run out into the open when you were trying to be stealth, and the enemy would completely ignore her crouch running around like a maniac. It's a minor complaint in the near flawless gaming experience that is The Last of Us, but it's definitely there.

Kumomeme3388d ago

you did say that, but even among games nowdays, tlou had one of the best A.I

the one hyped about their A.I is ubisoft, who contanstly saying the ai in watch dog was great, but what i see same repetitive act from them, kind of stupids(criminal are shooting gun, police chase another person instead)

Infamous2983391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

Naughty dog is one of developers I respect that have great record of games, I hope they continue this good game streak.

e-p-ayeaH3391d ago

of course there´s flaws like ellie being completly invisible to the enemy and very limited crafting options.

For something called game of the year id expect better gameplay but folks mostly praise the game for the story and ambience who cares about gameplay right?

Blackleg-sanji3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

Do ppl like u just wake up in the morning and say to yourselves how should i troll today? But ill bite whays wrong with the gameplay?

And the ellie thing was a design choice for good reason actually

e-p-ayeaH3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

not trolling really id just wanted more gameplay goodies in the game and id prefer to give orders to ellie like trading items and hold a position that sorta thing, also the crafting could be a little more creative like setting up non-lethal traps and such.

every game as flaws and TLOU felt like it could do so much more.

MasterCornholio3391d ago

Yeah people didn't buy the game to baby sit a little girl. It would be annoying as heck if you had to save her but every 2 seconds with enemy's swarming around you and having an extremely limited ammo supply.

ABizzel13391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

@e-p-ayeaH

I agree about the companion AI being invisible, but then people would be complaining about Ellie got me killed, because enemies saw her (she should simply stay further back, and have better AI for hiding to not break the immersion).

However, I'd much rather Ellie be invisible then to have enemies swarm me, because she's trying to find appropriate cover, then and the entire industry would be complaining about that.

As far as crafting and gameplay goes, I've never understood the complaints. Joel is an average man and dad, who has to learn to survive in this world. He's not a top marksman from the marines, and he's not a master scientist. Therefore his gun skills are appropriately hit or miss, which is why you upgrade the sway skill to better his aim. Therefore, his crafting abilities are limited, because he's not a weapons designer.

The things he make are things everyday people (aka Joel as a character) can make which is why the crafting system fits with the character. If you want to make an Electrocuting Machete then play Dead Island. This game is trying to set a sense of realism.

What's there gameplay wise is good for any game, and overall very good for the context of this game. There could be more crafting options, but then if there's a sequel what's going to feel new if they pour all their ideas into this game.

The companion AI really needs to be fixed if there's a sequel for immersions sake, it's a problem that they're aware of, and if not changed it will reflect in the reviews of many.

Blackleg-sanji3391d ago

So y not jus say that instead of what u said in your second sentence about game of the year and what not

HeavenlySnipes3391d ago

Yeah the AI flaw is the biggest one

The gameplay doesn't suck. You have more bubbles, so care to explain how its lacking? Oh, and please refrain from using vague terms like "its not that good" or "its boring".

Go into detail on why the gameplay drags this game down in your opinion

guyman3391d ago (Edited 3391d ago )

"and very limited crafting options"

Well that is extremely unfair to the game, you could nitpick any game like that and say it is a flaw; and the crafting options were perfect.

"For something called game of the year id expect better gameplay but folks mostly praise the game for the story and ambience who cares about gameplay right?"

There is a reason why the game is the most awarded in history. There is a reason why it achieved critical acclaim. That is because the game was superb in all departments: Gameplay, story, graphics, atmosphere, etc.

Also, something tells me you haven't played the game. If so, you don't really have any place in critizing the game. Sorry that it hurts you so deeply though.

CervantesPR13391d ago

The gameplay is the best thing about the game thats why i play it often online but this is nothing new xbox fans are tired of hearing how great TLOU is. They are jealous of its success while their precious halo is losing its shine each time.

Saladin4163391d ago

the story and character development is flawless

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3391d ago

One of the most engaging games I have ever played. It's an experience like the first time you played the very first Legend of Zelda, or the first Final Fantasy. In every classic game, it's the sound track and the story that leads into the gameplay. And the Last Of Us is and will always be a classic.

The Last Of Us Series Has Remarkable Potential For Spin-Offs

Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."

anast82d ago

They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.

AlterRecs79d ago

I think this is in response to them releasing a remaster for the sequel, a game that didn't need a remaster.

Basically a "why did you put out a remaster no one asked for when you have all there options available"

anast79d ago

They remaster is to put out something quick while they are deving new stuff. I don't get how people can be so static.

AlterRecs78d ago

There's no news about a third game being in production, you're just assuming that they're working on something that they aren't

anast78d ago

When they release the news to start the hype-train, you can give me my props then.

DrDoomer82d ago

I want an alternate timeline spin-off, where part 2 never happened.

CrimsonWing6982d ago

They’ve already done Remasters of 1 and 2… what else is there to Remaster?

AlterRecs79d ago

Considering they remastered the first game twice, who knows lol

CrimsonWing6979d ago

That was a Remake. I guess they could do that to 2, but man…. They should wait a couple generations so it can look like a major upgrade.

The Last Of Us Online Devs Celebrate Their Experience With The Canceled Game

The team is sad for losing out on such a great project but celebrates its growth because of spending time on it.

Chocoburger127d ago

All they had to do was make a basic online mode like their previous games. Instead they wanted more money and choose to go live service which makes games worse in my opinion.

What a waste of time and money, what a shame.

seanpitt2382d ago

I can't wait for season 2 so they can kill Joel off in the first 2 episodes!! Then it will be just Abby and Ellies revenge plot!

Something is telling me that this won't happen though because it wouldn't make sense, oh wait

Linzoid126d ago

Not sure why they didn’t just make Factions 2. There was no need to make it a live service.

TLoU Factions was a great addition such a shame they couldn’t be bothered to remaster that for PS5 considering the crazy high price tag of the remaster of a remaster…

anast126d ago

This is something to be celebrated. This studio is smart and they get it, even factions 2 wouldn't've have been worth the time. I am surprised they didn't just remaster the first one though, but actually how popular was Factions?
