PS4 Sales Surpass One Million Units in Japan After Beating Wii U in Crucial Otoshidama Week

The latest Media Create hardware chart has been published today, and with the latest figures, updated to January 4th, we learn that the Sony's finally overtook the million units sold in its Japanese home turf.

Microsoft is not even trying here in Japan. They're advertising it as an FPS machine. Seriously, the only bundle were with Halo and Titanfall, I don't see how everyone is supposed to give a shit about that.

Nintendo really effd up with the Wii U. They still make great games with mario and mario kart games but wii is just a poor console. They should have noticed with heavily declining wii sales that the motion fad was over and should have minimized the gimmicks but they just had to give us a huge dumb gamepad smh

Neither the ps4 or Xbox one have the hardware for 4k gaming. A quick look at what it takes to even achieve it with pc's would have shown you that.

All you can get in 4k is some 2d Indie games at best.

Playstation dominance has only made gaming better during the gen they completely dominated, ps1 years and Ps2 years known to many as the best years of console gaming, I don't think this gen will be any different.

If it wasn't for ps4 completely wiping the floor with the xbone, most xbone owners wouldn't have had such good deals over the holidays.

It benefits all when Sony kicks the competitors arse by miles.

4K on consoles ? in 5 years (4 development side)? Keep having those wet dreams.

IMO ps5 and xb1 will be primarily built for VR(Morpheus 2.0 and MS's take on VR) and online cloud streaming.

Already checked. Famitsu undertracks the PS4. They still have it at 40,000 short of a million, and Sony Japan's president confirmed at the business meeting for retailers that it passed a million.

Hence, Media Create is more accurate, which is normal, since they're a fully dedicated data tracking company, while famitsu isn't.

Nintendo itself uses Media Create on its fiscal presentations.

That makes the PS4 sales even more impressive, they are directly attributed to winning over the consumer on just brand and vision alone, whilst the WiiU had a games release slam-down just to either sell the same or a bit more.

It's Famitsu, not Fatsumi. Some of our writers have listed Famitsu sales (in the past, not anymore for a long while), but for our analysis articles we always use Media Create, as they're used by manufacturers as well.

Unfortunately, Famitsu isn't as accurate as Media Create, which is why dualshockers no longer uses the former, but instead employs the latter.

Regardless of platform, it's been a great start to 2015 for all holders. This is pretty significant for PS4 as far as Japan goes.
