UK based Kovok studios are working on Project Nebula, a 3D interactive world where players can use custom avatars to socialize and play games together.
”We were PSHome developers and all our fans are PS3 owners. Releasing the game on PS4 is what feels more natural for us and it’s what our fans wanted.”
Septic it's actually a BS reason. The PS4 is a totally different architecture. It's nowhere near programming for the PS3. In fact, programming for Xbox One would feel every bit as natural as the PS4.
Did you read the comment or the article? They didn't say ANYTHING about it being similar to develop on. They said they had already developed for PS3 owners and they wanted to stick with that fanbase. Since you can't share across PSN and XBL, why would they want to try to re-establish themselves when they already have a cult following on PSN?
At least find something reasonable to troll about if your going to do it...
Gamers are gamers. It's ignorant to believe what is successful on one platform won't work on another. It's ignorance to believe a company doesn't want to increase their fan base. There are some differences in programming, but nothing on the level of going from the PS3 to the PS4. Given the opportunity to expand your business with so little effort(several developers have stated it takes just weeks to port to Xbox One) to port, it is foolish to believe a company would miss that opportunity to increase sales. It may be an effort to get Microsoft to approach them, maybe Sony compensated them. But with so many developers going bankrupt over the last decade, "feeling natural" always takes a backseat to survival.
Never trolling. Just a big picture guy. You should try it.
@dcbronco- "Gamers are gamers". True but that does not mean every publisher and developer should market a game to everyone, market and demand are keys in this business. There's plenty of games that has a huge following on a console brand over the other, if there is no demand on a said platform, then why would they bother to make the game to that certain platform. They wouldn't scare if some of you complain about their game not being on said platform because at the end of the day, it's all business and they'll do it to their own convenience. Like in Japan, do devs have to bother releasing games to XBOX just because "Gamers are gamers"? Please, that's ridiculous, not all multiplatform games ends up successful FYI, so a lot of times porting isn't really a big of a deal when demand on said platform needs to be in there. If gamers are gamers like you're trying to say, then Nintendo would get more 3rd party support, the Yakuza games would be on all platforms including mobile and PC, and Square wouldn't have allowed Microsoft to have that Tomb Raider timed- exclusivity, only people with that deluded business tactics are in fact Activision, EA and Ubisoft.
Like the Dark Souls series, if it wasn't for the success behind Demon's Souls, then there wouldn't be any Dark Souls, especially on your platform of choice.
Another person didn't watch the video too the end. The whole point is that there are a bunch of different games, each positioned on it's own island, all players are connected and can interact with each other.
@MrSec84 It bears repeating that this is NO DIFFERENT from Home. You could do the same things in the PS3 version (mini games, events etc.) If UKmilitia's opinion is based on Home then they are very accurate
I think you should always mind if something your preferred company has done or not done is the reason a third party title won't be available for you to play.
I'd rather Microsoft bring back 1 vs 100 then to have this microtransaction grab on the XBox One. It's basically just HOME2 and I didn't care much for the first HOME. Sony designed HOME to make money since they weren't charging gamers for their network services. Even though HOME had many gamers visit it, it was mostly a hangout for teens to chat and spew profanity at each other. After the failure of the first HOME, I'm surprised Sony even wants this on their system. The reason they probably don't care is because they aren't funding it this time. So if it bombs, there's no skin off their backs. This time it's not even exclusive, as it will be on the PC and Mac as well.
I thought PS home wasn't al that great when I played/used it but there seemed to be a crap ton of regulars on it who felt right at "home". I'm not a fan either but some people love to socialize online in these types of environments which isn't a bad thing whatsoever.
yeah, i really liked home. i like to talk n bs with people, play chess etc. didnt really do much else with it. maybe just looked at new trailers/ talked and bs'd in different spaces. im excited for this.
It's different this generation, since both consoles now have party chat. PSHome was kind of like a hub to meet up with friends and do a few things together. That kind of becomes secondary now, again, in lieu of party chat.
The thing about parties is, you don't have to stop what you're doing to sit together and chat. Each person can be playing a different game and still interact.
With Project Nebula, you are essentially stuck in a game where everything takes a backseat to simply interacting.
We all multi-task at a very high rate these days. We're on Twitter while watching TV and Movies. We're on Twitch, chatting with other players while watching streams. All the while, we're texting on a phone or posting messages to other devices.
The idea is not to be locked down in a social environment. It's to allow us simple interactivity, but with a multitude of devices. In my opinion, Project Nebula closes us off from that.
It wasn't my thing, but I could see how it could appeal to a lot of people. I played around with it from time to time, but wasn't a go to spot by any stretch of the imagination.
Anyhow, I see a lot of dismissing of this, so I guess extra features/things to do aren't awesome on consoles anymore. Shame this'll go the route of indies since Sony will have it on their console....well not really a shame, just ironic really.
i think microsoft are working on their own thing similar to this as well. with rare no longer doing avatar stuff, its the whole reason why they are beginning to higher a whole new team to work on updating the avatar system for xbox one. either way no big deal for either as most socialize via game chat or random party ups.
Yes, I dont know if its like HOME, but I know they are working on bring back Avatar games like 1 vs 100, which I'm pretty sure makes for a better social experience than hanging out in a virtual world talking shit about Xbox, lol...
Don't mind me guys Im just in outer space right now with Steven Greer...lol
I don't get the whole HOME thing. If I wanna play games I play games. If I wanna hang around with friends I go out and do that. Can't see the fun of walking around in virtual apartment and socialize or whatever. It's a cool thing if it's a waiting lobby for a game before heading out on a mission or whatever but other than that, I just see no point.
It's more a virtual version of MiiVerse, although less integrated. It was mostly a social hub to meet other PS gamers. Wasn't bad overall, and never bad having another place to socialize. If they could actually make it possible to go there while waiting on MP matches I could see more people using it. That wasn't really possible on the PS3.
I'm with you on what I'd prefer to do though, but to each their own.
I see alot ppl who talk down on home on here, & I bet most of them are xbox fans. I dont really care for home but trust me with all the free games u can play on home and socialise with other users, I guarantee if home was on xbl, tons of ppl would use it. Your lying to yourself if u say u wouldnt use it just for the fact that u pay for xbl & ea access and enjoy those so I know home would be a success on xbl. Heck ppl spend money on their avatars and avatars dont do anything so I know u would enjoy home. Dont give me that bs that u would never use it because I know u would like it if it was on xbl. If u guys make crosschat last gen look like it was the best feature ever then i know for a fact that u would love home.
So many developers freely choosing to skip on Xbox. Let's remember that this is not the only case. And then the xbox community says they don't care about these games, the developers take notice and it is even less likely they will get them.
As a xbox gamer Idk much about the ps home but more options are always good for the gamer some ppl like to socialize in different and this home thing seems to be another way to do that. I'm not ganna say I dnt care about this bcuz it's not coming to the X1 but it's a cool concept for those who are into it. Why can't we ever jus say hey I won't use this much but I like the idea behind it, it's an audience out there for this.
Exactly, I didnt mean by my post above as to make xbox fans angry, that wasn't my intention but what i meant was exactly what u said. I mean lets be honest, yes it aint for everyone but home is free with tons of free games. All im saying is that most xbox gamers & friends of mine who own an xbox love xbox because of xbl. Its a reason I bought the original xbox and a 360 because xbl was where i 1st started enjoying online gaming. This is coming from someone who enjoys single player games more. From what ive experienced on psn & xbl & home, I honestly think that home would actually draw a bigger crowd from xbl only because playstation gamers are more into single player games where xbox gamers enjoy being more social and online. Thats all im saying.
I'm not angry I understood what u meant but some will take it the wrong way. I think the ps home thing is a great idea that should be on the 4 and X1 it gives you something extra to do when ur not playing a triple A title. Let's face it their is days when we get bored and jus wanna mess with random ppl to game or whatever be it what's not to like about that? I jus hate when ppl come here jus to say it's pointless like why even bother wasting ppl time you are into this sort of thing ya know what I mean
How can you say this is pointles? If it doesn't appeal to you that's fine but dnt come in here and act like other ppl won't like/enjoy this stop forcing you're personal opinion on others.
So it'll be successful? PS Home didn't flop. They supported it up until the PS4 came out and it had a pretty big community. It'll be officially shut down in March I believe. That's 6 years it's been around always getting new features and more users. That's not how flops usually happen.
Don't think Xbox One owners mind to be honest

Home was a good concept if you didnt have a social life... something like IMVU, it even had a movie theater like scenario with a random movie playing.
Good luck , maybe your next game but if not take care.
