Street Fighter V will offer a story mode and stance change mechanic

According to hadoken.net Street Fighter V will offer a hot spanking Story mode, 16 characters, weather affected stages, brand new stance change mechanics and more.

SWEET. capcom should also add what is better known as "Over working the character" Vocally and physically.

Adding level tones of vocals to show levels of aggression/expression in SF5 would definitely work IMO. Physical and facial animation should also show level of aggressions. For Ex. when ken gets man you can tell both Vocally and physically.

did they say no super edition? not really sure what they meant.

16 characters is perfect at this moment in time. its a pain to learn movesets of a bigger character roster.

i'll be looking forward to story mode though. always loved the sf characters and wanted more out of the story.

Chard3412d ago

hopefully that means they just release the game once, then any additional content can be dlc instead of having to buy a new game (i.e. SFIV to Super SFIV).

Inception3412d ago

That's exactly what it means: no super, ultra, or hyper edition for SF V. Updates like balance, new character, new mode, etc are coming from patch / DLC.

If this true than i can understand why Adam Boyes said it will be console exclusive for PS4 for a long long time.

The other reason why capcom did this maybe to maximize SF V sales. Capcom did the usual super, ultra, hyper SF edition for years. That's why a lot of people hold on their purchase until capcom release the complete edition. If they say this is the only SF V edition that will be available in the market than maybe it will bring more sales.

It still a maybe though, so don't take this rumour seriously...

The guy who leaked this sounds credible, although things are subject to change before they're officially announced by Capcom or Sony.
Assuming the additional details this "insider" has talked about are true it will mean this is the only Street Fighter this generation, which is great, keep it off on the platforms it sells best on, focus on taking advantage of the best hardware and biggest install bases for the series.

Having a smaller roster of characters means they can be better developed, it won't take an age to release and the game can be evolved through DLC after release.
Exclusivity adds more validity to doing it in the first place if Capcom aren't going to undermine this release by announcing other additions.
They should just add the characters from Ultra, EX or whatever as DLC packs, along with stages into SF5 and it'll keep the game fresh.

Tiny roster. Good for balance, though. The smaller the better. Theoretically, a single character is best. I think 16 is right where it gets messy.

Revengeance3412d ago

It sounds like this game is going to shape up to be one of the best. Can't wait to put this in my PS4.

Street Fighter 5: Analysing a Tarnished Legacy

Street Fighter 5 launched in 2016, and is widely considered a misstep for the hugely popular franchise. This article explains why that is.

Terry_B116d ago

Every Street Fighter is called a misstep of the series since Street Fighter III..and even the Alpha games were not liked by everyone.

SF V had a miserable start but later it did a lot things actually better than SFIV and SF6.

SF6 is the first SF since SFII Turbo for that I did not buy at launch. And today, around 6 months after its launch I still have no motivation to buy it.

kevco33115d ago

I've had every Street Fighter on launch since SFII on the SNES. SFV is definitely my least played of them all.

SF6 is very good. You should give it a second look.

Terry_B115d ago

Maybe in 2-3 years when there is a version that has characters I care for.

So far there is not one of the new characters I like..and my favourite 4 are not a part of it either. (Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega) + the whole hip hop style and the crappy music turned me totally off.

Looking forward a lot to Tekken 8.

Sano24115d ago

SF4 vanilla was loved by most and and not considered a misstep. It wasn't until they went revision crazy that people started turning on Capcom.

Terry_B115d ago

Don't remember the criticques it got for the big hands and feet, the sometimes weird looking faces, the lame boss (Seth) and that so many characters were shotos and yup..the many new versions. Just every SF got its haters no matter how good it was.

Nerdmaster114d ago

It was criticized for the first trailers having an interesting art style with those ink splashes, but the real game had none of that and people felt cheated. And Capcom decided to add some of those effects in the game later because of the backlash. But I don't remember any other big complaints about it.

I grew out of fighting games, loved them as a kid but online you just get your ass kicked over and over leaving just the bare bones single player and also having no friends anymore who like fighting games either just makes me not want to buy or play them anymore.

CrimsonWing69115d ago

I dunno, I like Street Fighter 5 quite a bit. 🤷‍♂️

Sf6 is the best sf since sf4ae lol
