I wish they would also list all the disconnects players got since the release of the game.

bananaboats3408d ago

as much as i love Destiny, this is too damn true and extremely annoying.

NewMonday3408d ago

this officially makes it the worlds second biggest FPS franchise after COD, incredible for a new IP

should hit 15 million in a few months, possible to achieve 20 million life time

Meltic3408d ago

im one of the disconnected players.

daBUSHwhaka3408d ago

And how many players have took it for a spin straight back to trade it in.

Docknoss3408d ago

That was gonna be my question. The hand got old fast

paradigmfellow3408d ago

Same here. I am glad I am not one of them.

Utalkin2me3408d ago (Edited 3408d ago )

If you haven't played it, then how you know you're not happy to be one of them. Just kind of short sighted if you ask me and jumping on the hate train. But continue as you were, just another two to go on the ignore list.

MysticStrummer3408d ago

People are actually agreeing with him. This site man…

BiggerBoss3408d ago

Youre happy that you havent tried it?

Come on man, at least try it before you knock it. Its not the greatest game, but its a really solid FPS with great mechanics.

Alot of the hate on Destiny is warranted, but alot of people (not specifically you) bash it without ever having played it

TheBurger293408d ago

Maybe people wont try it because its overhyped by bungie, mostly just a grind, no story at all, and its just repetitive BS.

MysticStrummer3408d ago

@TheBurger - "its overhyped by bungie"

How would they know if they haven't played it? I read these same complaints before I bought the game. If I hadn't I might have bought it sooner. Then I played the free trial. I'm glad I did. Great game.

"mostly just a grind"

You've never played an MMO I take it. At least this game with MMO elements has fun gameplay. You know, gameplay? If you wanted to see what a grind really looks like, you should have played Everquest Online Adventures on PS2.

"no story at all"

BS. Destiny has a story. Some people need to be spoon fed I guess.

"its just repetitive"

As are most games. Again, this one has fun gameplay. There are things I would have done differently, but I'm loving this game and looking forward to more. I'm annoyed that I have to go out of town so I won't be able to earn any Vanguard Marks next week.

RiseofScorpio3408d ago

And their are 12,869,065 used copies and counting in gamestops.

SamPao3408d ago (Edited 3408d ago )

sheesh you guys should just leave the comment section of every Destiny article... why are you guys even here...

It's also not my type of game but there are enough people out there that like it, so leave it to them

pompombrum3408d ago

Well the people out there who like it are probably too busy getting that 20 fusion rifle spree for the millionth time to care what people on here say.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3408d ago (Edited 3408d ago )

Some people can't be happy unless they cause someone else to be unhappy. Sad, but true. It's like the people who claim to not care about a topic, then go into a thread just to post "I could care less." Miserable people, just miserable.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter326d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell325d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig326d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast326d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g326d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka326d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai477d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface476d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard474d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
