With the recent string of news about Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 having been announced some time ago fans of the series may been wondering about Tekken x Street Fighter.
Never fear, according to a recent interview of Katsuhiro Harada on Korean site inven Tekken x Street Fighter is still happening and “Tekken x Street Fighter’s base system is already finished.” This does muddy things a little bit as far as release dates go. Harada also said that they plan to finish Tekken 7 and its updates before finishing Tekken x Street Fighter and that they would also be releasing it strategically as to not cause any problems.
Having Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V come out before the crossover makes perfect sense. The only downside of that for fans looking forward to it is that the release date sounds pretty far away. With Street Fighter V not releasing until sometime in 2015 or maybe even 2016, as it’s only 20% done, you could be waiting for a while. Silver lining: It’s still happening.
The reports of Tekken X Street Fighter's death have been greatly exaggerated and the game's director, Katsuhiro Harada, isn't too thrilled about the mistake.
"the game's director, Katsuhiro Harada, "
The game actually has a director. Don't know whether to laugh or cry - what the hell has he been doing ?
Tekken x Street Fighter is officially dead as confirmed by the game director and Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada. The game was announced long ago.
Dan Rizzo says "where is Tekken X Street Fighter? Was its reveal all for naught? Are we lead to believe that Harada’s still holding out after Ono’s departure? Will we ever see a draft of its early development phase? These are all questions that will remain – along with the title itself – in video gaming purgatory."
I think IF this game ever happened, they would remaster Street Fighter X Tekken just for the sake of it being up to date with Tekken X Street Fighter.
I can't imagine Capcom being ok with Tekken X Street Fighter being on the PS5/Series X/S while Street Fighter X Tekken is literally two system generations behind.
I believe that both companies are doing well with their own fighting game atm so they don't see the urgency to produce that title. But I could see some Cameo appearing on Sf6 or the next Tekken game.
So much fun on the vita, combos tagged to the touch screen meant some easy cross platform wins.
I just want to know how they will balance the projectiles and charge characters.
This doesn't need to happen...
yes
but the important question is
is street fighter vs hello kitty still happning?
I hope we get something soon..like an image even.
Looking forward to this, despite all the warranted hate surrounding SFxT, I still thought the mechanics were a lot of fun and especially liked how they tried to blend Tekken into the Street Fighter formula. Hopefully Harada and co will try something similar in blending Street Fighter into Tekken.
