I've heard interesting things about MGO. It may be time for me to finally get on board with the franchise.

just_looken3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

No one is mentioning that it has 3 game modes territories tdm and there spin on ctf.Four maps peer 2 peer net code and a broken spawn system.

plenty of videos here showing how bad this online is.

https://www.youtube.com/use...

DO not forget these guys had 3 years development time yet they gave us a mp that could be made in a year tops.

I find this to be a absolute joke one that there should be alot of negative feedback and just pull it.

2015 peaple like a multiplayer that has:

-12 max player count

- full auto shotguns/invisibility/motion sensor on one class load out.

- no dedicated servers no region locking no ping restrictions.

- The available content locked behind 3 character classes each you half to grind up to get anything a for grip is a level reward what??? the gear cost is way to high.

- No clan support

- Has limited and broken party support and a pointless freeroam.

- The cqc is a joke just grab someone 10ft away like nothing. You half to break your left stick to counter the cqc.

- Gun balance is pre alpha

- D walkers should be removed why do we need these?

- The spawn system is the worst i have ever seen you can spawn on a buddies corpse or have 2 teams spawn in the same courtyard just a fence separates you.

- No information of ping on player

- Cant kick players.

- Rewards camping in certain game modes like spawning in to your hq on territories and getting spawn killed then you see the entire enemy team just spawn killing 6min later you loose.

I am sure i can put more down but that the top of my head.

Go ahead play it put a smile on accept a launch ps2 indie multiplayer experience as a goty 2015 contender. The truth is this online should be pulled down and delayed.

3 years yet peace walker online has 3x the content.

Oh i know com control/bounty hunter and cloak and diager are there real names.News flash though all those names are stuff from tv LOL.

bounty hunter- tv show
cloak and dagger- marvel superheros and on tv
com control- Possibly was listing to the song watching tv.

territories name fits sense its just the halo 1 game mode slapped in.

flyingwombat333116d ago

This. This so hard. I can't even believe how bad the gun balance is. It actually shocks me. This multiplayer is a disaster the likes of which I haven't seen in a LONG time. It really is shockingly bad.

Look, I knew it was going time be different from MGO2, but anyone who is defending this is out of their minds. The maps are way too big for the player count, but you end up getting cornered into one area because of spawn camping and the buddy spawn system. This SERIOUSLY feels like a first attempt at making a multiplayer game with limited time. Not a three year period with experienced devs.

Rimeskeem3116d ago

It honestly feels like a 3rd person CoD. Panic 'knifing', loads of spraying, and you just sprint around everywhere. Yes, you can play stealthy but its annoying compared to just running around.

Bathyj3116d ago

You just described perfectly why I dont play Multiplayer.

I like to be stealthy whenever I can, even if its not a stealth game. I like to Plan, observe and execute. MP seems to me to be mostly running and reacting. Not my cup of tea.

Rimeskeem3116d ago

Yah, this MP was not what I expected.

Aloy-Boyfriend3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

TLOU is actually that. The game punishes players that sprint and go alone by getting killed by teammates. Stealth is key. It's more passive, and most people do play it the intended way. That's why I love it

Insomnia_843116d ago

MGO was a lot better when MGS4 released.

inmusicutrust3116d ago

As XiKurapika said, TLOU is the game to play. Matches are spent creeping along cover waiting for the enemy to make a mistake and give their position away. And unless you have a stealth loadout and good bit of skill and strategy you will not stand a chance if you move away from your team. It's seriously the best multiplayer IMO.

Psycho_Mantis3116d ago

Oh yeah..TLOU was a lot better as well too if you had to compare when it comes down to planning an attack, and executing it. The game basically forced you to play that way instead of running and gunning. So a team effort is worth it. I just wish MGO was the very same since it has that kind of potential too.. I mean, it does but with the right people on your team and so on.

Bathyj3116d ago (Edited 3116d ago )

I understand that guys and it sounds like its a shame more people arent into that and prefer the annual CoD Running with the Guns event, but its still not for me.

I dont want to play against people because people are all doing that same thing. Theyre ducking down, theyre moving around looking for weapons, set traps, whatever. Theyre doing what youre doing.

I like guards because they have no idea someone is out there. They dont know theyre in a game. I like to sit and wait, watch a guard, learn his pattern. Listen to their conversations.

"I see DD has grown up. Do you think hes even a DOG?"
"What are you talking about? Of course hes a dog."

If there a few guards, the challenge is to pick them off on the edges without the others noticing. Totally ghost a whole camp without anyone getting wise. Sometimes in Tenchu I would sit in one spot for 5 full minutes just waiting for that moment when I could take a guy out without the other one seeing. To me thats intense.

You can not do this in Multiplayer, its just a different kind of game, that Im not into. MP died for me with Mariokart64.

This is why Rainbow 6 is totally ruined for me now and I suspect Ghost Recon as well. I also like games with Squads you give commands to. Stack them on a door. You come in from the other side. Use them as back up to your initial assault or use them as a distraction going in first while you swoop in and mop up. This is great to me. Its all about gameplay options and playing your way.

I would have been more happy if they'd used no imagination whatsoever and just made a RB6:Vegas 3 rather than gut what I loved out of the franchise. There arent enough games like that with squads. Bring back Brothers in Arms or Full Spectrum Warrior. Those were great tactical games.

Anyway, rant over, thanks if you read this far.

I agree. Thus far, I'm very disappointed in MGO3. They made a lot of transparently bad decisions that led the game to be a COD clone. Even the matches are so fucking short that there's no incentive to play methodically. Huge bummer. Back to Last of Us I guess.

Sly-Lupin3116d ago

...What kind of moron sees a stealth game and things pvp is the route to take multiplayer?

A co-op metal gear game would be just... insane. But nope.

Kyosuke_Sanada3116d ago

Kinda wished that they didn't have steal camoflauge in every game mode except Team Sneak. Other than that, I am glad that guns actually feel powerful now.

PaleMoonDeath3116d ago

If you don't, YOU are the one missing out. My friends and I are having an absolute ball with it. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Online services for MGSV:TPP (Xbox 360, PS3) and GZ (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4) to be terminated

Konami has shared an announcement on the official Metal Gear portal site stating that the online services for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be terminated on May 31st of 2022. This only affects the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. Both MGSV itself and its multiplayer component Metal Gear Online will be shut down on that date. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will also lose its network service on the same date, but this time it also affects the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.

MGS4 servers were closed after only 4 years, by the way https://www.metalgearinform...

Don't remind me, my favourite online game of all time :(

Giblet_Head962d ago

It's been brought back with RPCS3, if you're curious to get back into it.

I played this game recently. This is a problem because infiltrating online bases is by FAR the best way to get money.

During the actual game i made a few mill doing story missions, and procuring equipment, but with the online wallet, I had 100m+ in a few hours.

Not to mention you'd need to create online FOBs to max your gear.

Was hoping there would be a next gen patch to make the idroid a little less laggy. Really, a masterpiece of a game.

SDuck962d ago

And that's why online elements in single player games will never be welcomed by me

MasterChief3624962d ago

Remember that the services for Phantom Pain on Xbox One, PS4 and PC are still going to be online. But it is only a matter of time, I suppose.

GhostofHorizon962d ago

Are there any trophies or achievements tied to online?

Dark_Overlord962d ago

Actually 3, Intruder, Deterrence and Disarmament. You have to connect to the online to finish building the Nuke and get the trophy, meaning you can't disarm it either without online.

MetroidFREAK21962d ago

I still need to play these games. I have the PS3 versions

franwex962d ago

The online component is really helpful with online connectivity. You get minerals and stuff while you sleep to build up your base.

MetroidFREAK21962d ago

I don't think I'll get to it before the online service is shut down

Metal Gear Online is back, thanks to custom servers

We’ve seen custom servers bring loads of online PC games back from the dead, and emulation has provided a way for plenty of old console games to live on modern hardware. You probably see where this is going. Yes, a group of enterprising fans have put together custom servers to bring back the PlayStation 3’s take on Metal Gear Online, commonly known as Metal Gear Online 2.

I play MGO 1 still on my Original PS2 still... Online of course

franwex1014d ago

What?
I had no idea we could still play this!

aaronaton1014d ago (Edited 1014d ago )

I play this and I would just say the skill gap is as large as ever. Headshots are key, and most players seems to be able to quickscope anyone from anywhere. This was always a thing on PS3 but it's even more pronounced due to higher frames rates on the rpcs3.

It's the toughest online shooter I've played in a long long time.

What more can Kojima do with this franchise when the saga is pretty much over?

The plot is pretty much wrapped up and Kojima has expressed many times he'd like to put the IP to rest. Anymore titles in the Snake saga would just turn Metal Gear into a zombie franchise..........oh wait!

-Foxtrot2398d ago (Edited 2398d ago )

It's a pre order code aswell

I mean it's bad enough it's Survive but not even a Collectors Edition of it or something

Salt in wound. They're right aswell the other prizes are better
