New Take on Stealth Genre As Neon the Ninja Heads to Wii U eShop

Indie developer Stu Phelps has revealed that his new 2D Stealth Platformer, Neon the Ninja will be heading to the Wii U eShop when it launches later this year. Players will be tasked with guiding Neon on his journey to take down the world’s biggest baddies. In a break from the genre’s norm, instead of hiding in the shadows, Neon must utilize bright neon lights to hide from his enemies. There will be numerous colors to choose from, adding a layer of strategy to the stealth elements in the game.

Typically a stealth game invokes images of hiding in the shadows in black or camouflage and sneaking up slowly to take down a target. Neon the Ninja on the other hand opts for a more colorful approach.

At PAX East I had the opportunity to play through a level in a pre-alpha build of this upcoming Wii U indie title.

EB: Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably played at least one or two stealth games in the last few years. They’re pretty formulaic and straight to the point for the most part. Don’t make noise, hide in the shadows, strike when the time is right. Neon the Ninja is much the same but with one major twist, the darkness is not your friend.
