With the latest in the fantasy action-RPG franchise, Bioware seems to have made real-time and tactical combat not only fluid, but symbiotic.

And seeing Bioware is doing what's stated in the headline, Dragon Age is finally playable for folks like me who cannot stand tactical play like the previous games and can now enjoy DA with a action perspective..

I feel totally the opposite way. As someone who cannot stand an action perspective I'm afraid that my beloved tactical view will never again be what it was in Origins, and the quote "massively multiplayer online game feel" does nothing to soften that fear.

I played Origins on ps3. While I could stop time to issue orders, switch characters, ect, I never had that option to pull the camera up and see the battle clearly. Origins is one of my favorite experience of the last generation, easily.

From what I've seen the combat is more or less exactly what I imagined Origins was on PC, and I could not be more excited to play it. Inquisition looks exactly like the game I wanted after Origins. :)

Agree with anticlimax. I hope they dont screw this game up. I have high hopes.

The tactical pause-and-play view looks improved to me. It looks like we can chart out party movements point-by-point at once, which will be more precise. Not to mention that some of the spell effects get previewed once we make our selection, which is a nice touch.

Real-time playstyles aren't exactly new to this series. A completely real-time playstyle was doable in Origins on anything but Nightmare if the player was quick enough. For most fights, anyway. I'm just glad the hit detection isn't going to as terrible as Origins, really.

No one asked for real-time combat on Dragon Age in the first place.

I like real time combat mixed with strategy

Forces you to prepare beforehand and think on your feet before entering combat filled areas. FFXII was one of my favourite games of the PS2 era because of its combat

TheTowelBoy3575d ago

It has both, and while it specializes in neither they're OBVIOUSLY pandering to a larger market now than what they were. I like the direction they're taking on both sides of it. I will play both tactical and action because it's awesome to be.playing real time then when you sling that atk. Or magic spell that might put you over the top you can stop time and screenshot it. Not to mention the tactical view is very beneficial on harder difficulties.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon02908d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus908d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol
