5 Ways Elder Scrolls Online Is Worse Than Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls games are typically single-player games that players can finish in a month. However, Elder Scrolls Online is a game designed to occupy players for far longer than that so they'll continue subscribing. Trying to satisfy the fans of the single-player games while also building an engrossing MMO was a tough task and in some cases ZeniMax faltered.

Here's a look at some of the ways that ESO doesn't live up to the standards of Skyrim.

Why in God's name did I read that crap..

ElementX3655d ago

I know it's as though the writer had to dig up some pretty lame reasons just to write an article.

ShutUpDonny3655d ago

Never read articles with X reasons why something. It's a golden rule.

i never post about an article before i read it. but i will read the first few comments of an article before i read the article.

there are so many bad articles out there. after reading your comment; this is one article i will stay away from. i figured it was gonna be crap anyway.

You can't compare these two... Literally the only thing they have in common is a bit of lore. It's like comparing Warcraft 3 to WoW, one an RTS, the other an MMORPG. Or you know, compare Skyrim to WoW. You just can't do it, two completely different genres.

Thought the same after clicking those pages. Really dislike that site and others that spread out content across more that a few pages.

For me, being online is reason enough to be worse than Skyrim.

You only need one reason if your not a fan of MMO's and are a fan of the ES series. It's an ES game that has completely gotten rid of the immersion. Now you have 50 other players going through the same ruin in the middle of nowhere to talk to the same guy, on a journey only you are supposed to be on. ES was a game all about pulling you in, now that is gone completely unless you can completely ignore those other players like they are invisible, which I can't do. I realize it's an MMO, so it's supposed to be that way. Which means it's not for me apparently. But for MMO fans, I'm sure it's not an issue what so ever.

Bimkoblerutso3655d ago

That's why I've never been a fan of MMO's, honestly.

RPG's are fun because they lend context and immersion to what really amounts to a bunch of repetitive tasks with tiny, incremental rewards. MMORPG's strip away all that context and immersion and bombard players with JUST the shallow, addictive bits. They are literally designed to get people addicted and playing for years at a time.

I remember when I played WoW, everytime I defeated a boss that supposedly would die and disappear, and a few minutes later I saw him alive and well fighting with another player, I got a little disappointed.

The author mentions this in the article. This gives me thoughts of Warcraft, which I didn't like. I can certainly understand how this would could break immersion. I was excited for ESO coming to next gen consoles. After reading this article I realize I dont like mmorpgs. I love the ES series, but ESO doesnt sound like a game I would enjoy. And the world keeps turning.

Whatever this person's reasons are, I'd buy the game if it wasn't for that subscription fee.

One reason I know at least from the beta, the gameplay is not near as good.
