The Elder Scrolls games are typically single-player games that players can finish in a month. However, Elder Scrolls Online is a game designed to occupy players for far longer than that so they'll continue subscribing. Trying to satisfy the fans of the single-player games while also building an engrossing MMO was a tough task and in some cases ZeniMax faltered.
Here's a look at some of the ways that ESO doesn't live up to the standards of Skyrim.
Zenimax Online Studios, the developer behind The Elder Scrolls Online, is currently working on a brand new engine for a multiplatform title.
"It’s really special to be at the ten year anniversary."

Why in God's name did I read that crap..
For me, being online is reason enough to be worse than Skyrim.
You only need one reason if your not a fan of MMO's and are a fan of the ES series. It's an ES game that has completely gotten rid of the immersion. Now you have 50 other players going through the same ruin in the middle of nowhere to talk to the same guy, on a journey only you are supposed to be on. ES was a game all about pulling you in, now that is gone completely unless you can completely ignore those other players like they are invisible, which I can't do. I realize it's an MMO, so it's supposed to be that way. Which means it's not for me apparently. But for MMO fans, I'm sure it's not an issue what so ever.
Whatever this person's reasons are, I'd buy the game if it wasn't for that subscription fee.
One reason I know at least from the beta, the gameplay is not near as good.
