Rumour: Dead Nation Vita due out next week?

PSNStores: "A member of the Danish press took to NeoGAF to share information about the long awaited Vita port of Dead Nation. According to Hanmik, the game has already been sent to European press to review, and has an expected release date of April 16th in the region. Apparently there's no embargo on the game. This information corroborates an earlier leak from the Italian PlayStation Store, which stated that the portable version would launch in April, and support Cross-Buy with Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition on PS4."

This is cool for sure, but when is Sony announcing the next major Vita exclusive? :/

bothebo3661d ago (Edited 3661d ago )

Not sure if we're going to get one at this point. The writing has been on the wall for a while now: a indie focused library and promotion as a PS4 companion product. What would be their motivation to invest resources into the Vita at this point? If they spent those same resources on the PS4 they would get a much bigger return.

randomass1713661d ago

That's kind of unfortunate. I'll love my Vita regardless, but I was hoping to get games only the Vita can play. Ah well, hopefully after the PS4 is settled in enough homes they'll bring forth a little more focus on the platform. :)

Inception3660d ago

My guess is at E3. Right now Sony 1st party still focused on finishing Freedom Wars, Gravity Rush 2, and Over My Dead Body 2.

So, you should play / wait for 3rd party games like Akiba's Trip 2, Dangan Ronpa 2, Borderland 2, Mind Zero, Conception 2, One Piece: Unlimited World, or Blaz Blue: Chrono Phantasma.

randomass1713660d ago

Ah sweet! I will definitely keep an eye out for all of those. Thanks! :)

Beetey3660d ago

TBH, I no longer feel the need for "major" Vita exclusives, due to the constant flow of indie games and the occasional cross-plat title.

bothebo3660d ago

You're in the minority buddy.

Beetey3660d ago

@bothebo I'm sure I am, but I rather be in the happy minority than the upset majority.

Knushwood Butt3660d ago

I get so many Vita games from Plus that I haven't got time to play anything else.

GdaTyler3659d ago

My hopes have been shattered a couple times before. I'll go into E3 2014 with low expectations to protect myself. Hopefully they give Vita an exclusive for the holidays. Hopefully even a new AC title! :D

What Sony should've done with the Vita is replicate the franchises that made the PSP successful. I'm also not referring to ports from previous generation systems.

Metal Gear, God of War and GTA.

Bring a couple of those, an infamous and then keep supporting it with indies, JRPGs, HD collections and a few third-party ports like Borderlands and it'll do fine

Protagonist3660d ago (Edited 3660d ago )

The Ironic part is, gamers were busy claiming the PSP was a failure during the PSP days. I would know about that, since I had my PSP since 2008.

The Vita is barely 2 years old and already has a good library of games, with lots of exclusives, AAA games, ports, Indies and PSP games on top of that.

Lots of announced exlusives, ports and whatever are on the way. Games are still being announced for the Vita (as Dead Nation) and lots are still to be announced.

Problem is, gamers are busy givning the Vita the same treatment as the PSP.

Close to 10 millions Vitas has been sold,´which means more support on the way, but be patient I say and the exact game you want for the Vita, will come soon enough.

As @Inception said "So, you should play / wait for 3rd party games like Akiba's Trip 2, Dangan Ronpa 2, Borderland 2, Mind Zero, Conception 2, One Piece: Unlimited World, or Blaz Blue: Chrono Phantasma"

And please enjoy the already great released Vita games.

@Protagonist
Completely agree. I like your thinking.

Lilrizky3660d ago (Edited 3660d ago )

Yeah i know and i agree. I've been playing my vita more than all my other systems. And i have 7 that I play.

I think what i'm trying to say is, the vita is targeted at a very niche market. i.e you and me.

I loved persona, uncharted, killzone, assassin's gravity rush, guaccamellee, pixel junk, metal gear HD collection, velocity, hotline miami (playing terraria atm) So don't get me wrong i think it has an amazing library, better than what the general consensus is claiming.

I just think looking back to PSP. God of war and GTA were must-haves. not just for a hardcore gamer but for the general market. Besides Uncharted being on its own and COD sucking, i don't see a killer app for this system. Out of all my friends who are all gamers, i'm the only one who has one. but i consider myself a super hardcore gamers that plays everything, whilst one friend only plays FPS an the other only players fighters and hack n slash games for example.

I really think the Vita deserves more praise than what it's getting, but as you said it's probably another PSP scenario

vitorizzo3660d ago

Is it going to be cross buy/play?

GreenRanger3660d ago

Good luck playing this outdoors. This game is extremely dark on the PS3 and PS4.

SamPao3660d ago

Not everyone plays their vita in the burning sunlight and with sunglasses on.
No seriously, I play vita on the train in the morning and in the evening, and always wear a black shirt when you wanna play, works very good :)
But yeah this game is very dark

MajorGecko3660d ago

gamer science - black shirt increases screen visibility outdoors.

must test this.

Skate-AK3660d ago

That would be cool. Bet the game would look nice on the OLED.

The VR version of Stardust is an incredible experience, even for those that get VR sickness, the game gives you the feeling of floating in the vastness of space, but the motion sickness is removed, its colorful, flashy, and amazing to play

IBD Podcast #13 - Housemarque and mastering the twin-stick shooter

Housemarque is famed for its downloadable console games including Super Stardust, Dead Nation, Alienation, PS4 launch title Resogun and now Nex Machina. The veteran Finnish developer has made a name for itself crafting, precise, polished, technically accomplished and visually striking titles in publishing partnership with Sony.

With its latest title, Nex Machina, launching for both PS4 and PC, Housemarque is taking its first step into self-publishing. Working in collaboration with pioneering developer Eugene Jarvis, who created arcade classics such as Defender, Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV, Nex Machina represents both a refinement and evolution of Housemarque's design principles, as well as an opportunity for the developer to directly benefit from establishing and retaining its own IP.

Here, Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen and head of publishing Mikael Haveri discuss how the decision to self-publish has led to greater autonomy, a collaboration with Eugene Jarvis and how a game titled "Death Machine" could mean a new lease of life for the company.
