Bayonetta 3 is was revealed at last years Game Awards and DMC5 is rumored to come out this year! These franchises are some of the best hack-and-slash games in gaming history but will that be enough in the current climate?
PlatinumGames has released the first of a four-part documentary examining the development of Bayonetta 3. It's jam-packed with fascinating anecdotes from the team, including a rather surprising revelation from the game's director, Yusuke Miyata.
Miyata confirmed that Hideki Kamiya, creator of the Bayonetta franchise, approached him directly to offer up the role of the sequel's director. However, instead of jumping at the opportunity, Miyata was initially hesitant and was worried that Kamiya himself would interfere in the project too much.

If it’s something like Ninja Gaiden Sigma’s nonlinearity then that’s possible.
But for those two type of franchises having an expansive world wouldn’t be very advantageous.

Nier was a very well received and selling Platinum title. If Bayonetta 3 changes its direction I bet it would go that way.
Devil May Cry 1 was semi-open world. You could revisit any area during any mission for the most part.
