Dark Horse Nintendo Steals The Show At E3 With Some Unexpected, Exciting Announcements

The end result was, as people squabbled and argued about Microsoft and Sony, Bethesda and Ubisoft, along came Nintendo, silently, in the background, like a dark horse, and blew everyone's minds with what is far and away, undoubtedly, the best E3 showing of the year.

I own a switch now and love it but metroid and Pokémon announced wow 2 massive ips I wanted to see on the switch. We all know Pokémon is a system seller and when it comes out it will do wonders for the console esp if it has online mp to. Metroid again could be the switch's halo to in terms of online mp. Interesting times for Nintendo and will also make Sony and Microsoft stand up and see Nintendo could be a threat again.

How so? It's been typical Nintendo cutesy mascot stuff. Mario Odyssey looks pretty good, Colorful Kirby side scrolling, A black screen that said Metroid Prime 4, and Little Big Planet knockoff Yoshi game, Oh and Mario meets Rabids, cause Rabids is one of the most popular games ever. I'm not saying it's bad but to say they smoked everyone else at E3?? I see nothing really different from Nintendo other than their usual colorful first party stuff. Is this going to win over core gamers from XBOX One and PS4?

Not really. Rumors were out and I don't really see this as shock considering how they release games. This is more of the same from Nintendo.

You nearly just described Sony and Microsoft's showing at E3 2016. Nintendo won not because they had an outstanding showing, but because the others didn't. Nintendo gave huge surprise announcements with a mainline Pokemon for the Switch and Metroid Prime 4, what big 1st party games did Sony or Microsoft show off that you didn't already see coming? Along with the newly announced Kirby game, Yoshi game and a great Mario Odyssey trailer, Nintendo edged out it's competition.

Remember how everyone lost it for the FF7 Remake logo at Sony E3 2015? Or Shenmue 3's director coming on stage to announce a kickstarter for a game that hadn't started development? I love Nintendo and my Switch, but their 25 minute showcase was not mind blowing, Showing tittles for games not that exciting, they should have had something besides just tittles to show for those games, already new Mario's Odyssey looked great, Kirby and Yoshi games looks like the usual Kirby and Yoshi games.

Not really dissing on it but it's a stretch to say it mind blowingly won the E3.

If I had to pick a best conference it would be Ubisoft's conference. Sony and Nintendo in my opinion tied for second.

Of course, Metroid Prime 4 was the one and ONLY thing Nintendo had at their show. That, and nothing else. Nope. Not like they also had the best game of the show in Mario Odyssey, other new announcements like Kirby, Yoshi, or Pokemon on Switch, or cool trailers for things like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade. A logo of Metroid Prime 4 was all that there was.

While i mostly agree with you... I though xenoblade chronicles x2 looked decent. Id play that on the switch where zelda is like the only other game than mario. Which is a weak 1st year if you ask me

I love that it's the Switch who has a good E3. This generation is shaping how I want it to. Nintendo possibly making a comeback and Sony in the driver's seat. Microsoft needs to work on itself a little. Xbox-X was a good start but going back the principles of the first console having a bunch of diverse exclusive games is where they need to go.

Nintendo showed what they needed to show, assurance to the consumers that there will be a bright future, and they did that. They showed their willingness to open up to Western devs with cross play and even letting Ubisoft use the Mario World characters in a non Nintendo game.

It was a great showing, the only thing missing that I wanted to see was their plans for their online network and virtual consoles.

Unpopular opinion never was a fan of Prime series mainly due to its gameplay but I will admit its graphics, level design and the music (dear god the music) is excellent props to Ninty for actually listening to their fans and releasing a game the fans want. That being said I would prefer if that 2.5D Metroid was ported to the Switch as that game looks more interesting to me personally.

I dont feel the excitement really,this will reveal one way or another and it just a logo said that its in development.
Nintendo have the shortest livestream of all clocked at under 25 minutes.
The demand for it were sky high so no surprise there.
Good to know they working on it and that made fans sleep better but nothing to geeking out.
