Nintendo Vs SEGA - Who’s plug and play console will win the retro war?

Soon we will have both the Mega Drive classic console and Nintendo´s NES Classic edition console at our disposal. So, which console will win the retro war?

The sega one is not sega's. Its atgames'. Nintendo's is theirs. The sega one is not new, they been on the market for years and the sound is awful despite using the real carts. Its a flaw in the design.

No need to try and pit these two against each other.

There is no competition here, the Classic NES wins on all fronts. SEGA don't even make this mega drive and the quality is terrible.

Uhm the Sega portable has existed for a very long time, except it's not Sega's, its froma Chinese company that bought the licence from Sega, the only reason this is popping up agin is because they renewed the licence. And to answer the question, probably Nintendo's, I heard the sound on the Sega portable is awful which is prevented me from buying one

The Sega one has been around for years, and I've owned one for years. The only thing that seems to change is the included games list gets tweaked every now and then. I think this one adds Mortal Kombat but drops Ecco 2 or something. Personally, I really enjoy the device. People complain about the audio quality (which I've never noticed) and the wireless controllers aren't great, but you do have the option to used wired ones and play your own cartridges. That's what I use it for mainly. Hell, you can even use the Game Genie with the thing and it works just fine. If you're a hard core player and want an exact Genesis machine, this isn't it. But if you just want to pop in some old Sega games for a bit of fun, it's perfect.

I grew up with the (S)NES games, so if I buy one it will be that. HDMI is always nice, but in the end it all depends on what games you grew up with that will determine your choice of console. Or get both!

There is no "retro war" these are cheap enough to own both. I've actually had a Genesis one for years. I'm amazed Nintendo hasn't had one until now.

The one made by the official developer that has HDMI support. That would be the Mini Nes. It's gonna be a quality product.

The Mini Genesis/Mega Drive on the other hand is garbage that Chinese company AtGames has been releasing for a while now. I've tried it and it's terrible. The emulation looks and sounds bad. It also features primitive RCA connectors. The device itself weighs nothing and feels like an empty plastic shell in your hands. In fact it weighs so little that it's own cables pull it back and it often falls to the ground.

It's just a Chinese system-on-a-chip clone, like the Famiclones. Not made by Sega but Atgames. The sound and picture quality is poor and the controllers are cheap crap.

Here in Brazil we have this company Tectoy. Here Sega consoles versions with games in memory are launched all the time.

In the past, Sega released their mini Sega with composite cables. My little cousin bought one before PS4's release. The nostalgic for Sega's console wont feel like Nintendo's plus the Nintendo console is legendary.
