Is Piracy Now an Unavoidable Evil in 2016?

No, it's copyright infringement. No one that's every been to court over piracy has been charged with theft. They're two totally different things. You don't understand what piracy is either.

I used to be broke too and pirated some games. I remember playing my pirated copy of Skyrim on my toaster. Toaster was equipped with a dual core Celeron and a Radeon HD 5450. Had to turn the game settings to low, then go into the driver settings to set the options in there like texture quality and mipmaps all to low. Ran that game at 30+ FPS N64 style with mods and had a blast.

Of course now I'm playing those games on a PC with a 4790k and GTX 980, and paying for them. But I've been there.

One thing that irks me about game pirates is they try to justify being a criminal by saying the company is bad and their games suck.

Well if they suck, don't play the game at all. Don't steal it.

Piracy isn't new lol, yes it sucks that this game had lots of people pirating it but lets look at this way, the game sold "substantially more than 100K units" and Steam Spy says it sold 66k on Steam so it still did good compared to the PS4 version.

Piracy has always been unavoidable, anyone thinking otherwise is kidding themselves. Recently I was going through really old game magazines that were made available online and have come across articles discussing the piracy problem as early as 1982. One thing I think would really help fight it, is that if companies would reward those who want to buy their games rather than than make them suffer for what thieves steal. Would encourage those who were on the fence to buy. However there doesn't seem to be a solution for people who are just going to steal no matter what. People are even stealing 99 cent games for smart phones.

Over 40GB game sizes will not make pirating easy for people with slow internet connection. Wich is a good thing.
