Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. But its easy to see why the PS4 is so popular. Not only is the PS4s worldwide sales lead continuing to grow every month, but PS4 also has the 2 highest rated AAA retail exclusive games: The Last of Us Remastered (95) and Bloodborne (93), backed up by an overall pretty solid lineup of games that span across all genres like Infamous Second Son, Killzone Shadow Fall, MLB The Show, LBP3, DriveClub etc...and PS4 still has the deepest library of quality indie titles.

Well, I would say this gen has been full of more games the first year or so then we normally see, last gen this time....we had a lot of droughts.

This time around we are seeing a lot of games coming the second year!

In fact, we're playing way more games now than we were last gen around this time.

Early last gen we did see indie arcade but they were bite sized download games that didn't have huge longevity. They weren't quite as ambitious and they certainly weren't being announced and released at the rate at they are now.

2014 was the only slow period of games earlier in that year and picked up around the gaming season in September and literally hasn't really slow down since.

this year so far seems to be with most consistent year in a while of video game releases. Going all the way into the summer season, E3 in June (a gamers event to tie us over) and picking right back up in September.

Between that time we still have PSN+ for free games and indie releases.

This year is great so far.

But to be perfectly honest, I think both consoles have been pretty underwhelming so far. I really hope this generation is longer than five years because the big games sure are taking their sweet time getting here.

Speak for your own console. There's nothing underwhelming about the xbo. A bunch of great exclusives only two years in, monthly updates that have made the console a different console from the one at launch. I couldn't live without Kinect now that I have it, completely underrated. I walk in the room say Xbox on and TV, surround sound, cable box all spring to life and greet me. I actually feel bad for the countless followers buying ps4s every month based on what they have been told buy people who have no idea what they are talking about. So far this year PS4 has a fairly casual game in the Order and hardcore game in Bloodborne. I'm waiting for more in the middle. I haven't been gobsmacked like I was with Heavenly Sword or Killzone 2 from last gen. But I haven't bought DriveClub or KZ:SF yet either.

Still waiting for something amazing from MS, although Sunset was pretty dope IMO. I'm anticipating good things for Crackdown and Scalebound.

Sunset was good I agree, not sure why your still waiting though, Titan Fall is insane, and you can practically get it free now, Dead Rising looks good but i didnt play it. Both Forzas are awesome, Master Chief collection is working great now, and even Ryse is worth a play through, underrated game. On the low budget niche end you got D4 and Max the curse of Brotherhood, and a few more I havent tried, but I hear they are good. There is plenty to play on XBO, not sure why people say they cant find anything to play on that console, I suspect PS4 fans trying to make it sound like XBO is just as guilty of having little content as PS4.

Three games that I want are my minimum requirement for XBox. It would have been the same for PS4, but I'll play multiplats on it.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not into racers nor multiplayer. I hated Halo when it came out, too twitchy. Back when Bungie had Marathon, I didn't like the feeling I was flying a spaceship with a gun on it. And zombies are played out. Ryse looks cool though.

So I'll wait until this Christmas or when Scalebound comes out (thinks of dragon-motif XBox slim console bundle). Love dragons.

While I agree with you that PS4 is best console of choice (In my opinion of course), I feel like this is really biased without much thought being put into it. Best games?? I think so but it's highly subjective and others definitely won't agree. Processing power and ram could have gone under one heading of specs or something along those lines rather than making 2 points out of very similar aspects. Both Ps4 and XB1 are going to have great graphical games so I don't think that can be used as a point tbh. You missed all the new features that make it feel next gen like shareplay or the totally stream lined and fluid UI. This could have been done better.

Neither the PS4 nor the Xone are factually superior. It's all down to preference. Mainly on exclusives - because they play third party games almost identically.

IMO Xone wins all 5 of those matchups. BUT even I admit Xone has no answer for BB yet.

I think Xone has a better controller, interface and media support. But it's not by a landslide. I can't get mad at you for disagreeing. And I think they both have some interesting indies.

Actually since the release of BB I think you can make the case they are both great purchases.

To me PlayStation has always been the best brand for their amazing games. nothing against the Xbox or PC. I just don;t like the idea of spending so much money on more than 2 consoles. PS4+Wii and 3Ds+Vita combo should be enough.

I agree with you.

One of the reasons that everybody forgets is the ARM secondary chip. This chip is doing an lot of background work, freeing thus precious resources for the CPU.

Not only that, but it also dealing with some PS4 tasks when console is in the rest mode (stand by mode), such as suspend/ resume, remote play, updates checks etc.

As a low power consumption chip, this makes the PS4 staying in rest mode without using the fans and thus you hear 0 noise from the console. I have a friend that has a X1 who gave up using stand by mode for X1 due the noise that it constantly makes in this mode (both the console and the power brick are spinning their fans) and to prevent the dust that could be sucked up by the fans.

No such issues with the PS4 as the ARM chip does not require for the fan to spin. Thus I like it a lot.

Most of my friends bought the PS4 to play offline they don't go online. Its obvious to me there is more casual gamer's who prefer that console. x box is more of an online oriented console and the majority of gamers are casuals they are not hardcore so Sony PS4 would be the console of choice for them. Sony subscription service numbers are low more than half the people who own a PS4 play offline.

I own a x box 1 so i am going to be bias somewhat but i also own an PC and I have used the PS4 i understand how it works and how to use it. There is nothing wrong with the PS4 its a grand console for what its designed to do but i still would pick the x box 1 having tried out the PS4 .X box 1 controller is also superior but there is nothing wrong with the PS4 controller a huge improvement over the PS3 one.

The PS4 OS looks a bit dated to be honest it has not changed that much since the PS2 days i prefer the flashy x box 1 interface.

I was actually impressed the PS4 sound was really good i think it may be even better than the x box 1 sound? Would have to test out it under proper conditions.

Exclusives to be honest i prefer x box exclusives but everyone is different. Playstation exclusives would suit people who like the story driven games.Would i buy a PS4 yes but i would need a game to convince me.

X box 1 and PC is more than enough to keep me busy at the moment. Everyone say x box needs more story driven games i agree but i also think Sony needs a killer shooter IP but it don't have it.

As much as what you've said is subjective, I too have noticed that Playstation gamers seem almost brain dead in comparison to Xbox players online competitively. Obviously this is not the case for all players, but as a general rule of thumb you can bet that almost any competitive shooter on Playstation is more difficult online on Xbox. Flame me if you want, I couldn't care less. I own and play a PS3, 360, Xbone and PS4.

Since when do people who don't play online become "more casual"? Aren't the hardcore the ones that play any kind of game? To me, the people who only want to play online games are limiting their experiences to routine, monotonous, grindy game play because they don't care to expand their horizons with new experiences.

I don't care for online games. It's not the game play that bothers me, it's the community. Doesn't matter where it exists, people are vile and annoying, and outside of the rare occasion, it simply isn't fun. I love local MP, because I can play with people that aren't a**holes, and with online, I never know what I'm going to get.

But me casual? Yeah OK. I have more games in my collection that I'm trying to get to than most casuals will play in 100 lifetimes. Many of my friends are the same way. Call any of them casual, and every one of them will unload more gaming knowledge on you than than Google could provide. Can't say the same for my two friends that are fans of the Xbox who just play it for Forza, Halo, and Gears....real hardcore there huh?

The Xbox brand hasn't had a "hardcore" first party AAA exclusive since the original. GeOW, Halo, Fable, and Forza are all mainstream games which appeal to both casual and hardcore. In the mean time, Sony has Bloodborne(admittedly 3rd party but Sony funded) and it's spiritual predecessors, Shadow of the Colossus, SOCOM, and many more from 3rd party which remain exclusive.

It also has tons of variety in exclusives to appeal to everyone, regardless of being hardcore or casual.

The DualShock has always been a great design. It's always worked, and anyone who uses that as their argument is really grasping at straws. Both controllers do their job, and the DS4 is the best they've ever done. It is quite literrally perfect in design and execution. The battery is the only flaw, and the light is nitpicking.

The PS4 OS looks like a refined version of the PS3's OS. The most award winning OS for any console ever. I don't care for the social stuff in it, but it works, it's fluid, and it's fast. The UI is the most asinine thing to consider when looking for a console, unless you are a casual who spends more time flipping through the UI instead of playing games. Other than that, the PS2 UI had 2 options on boot. You selected one or the other. It was nowhere close to looking like the PS4's UI. If you meant to type the PS3 UI, then refer to the beginning of this paragraph.

Playstation exclusives are pretty varied. There are a lot of story driven games, but there is every other kind of game as well. If all you care about is the online experience through MS rather lackluster use of rotating exclusives, and the yearly Forza, then yeah, X1 is for you.

I'd give you the benefit of the doubt on this argument if I didn't know you as a long time Xbox fan boy because MS under Phil Spencers regime does seem to be stepping it up a notch, but I know what you speak of now was determined in your mind long before the console was ever announced and the thought of MS acting more like Sony was something to simply laugh hysterically at.

In the end, the X1 has always been the more casual console. It has it's hardcore fans due to it's big exclusives appealing to both crowds, but the 360 did so well due to the college crowd who just wanted the dude-bro shooter to get drunk and high with their friends over. It did better later due to it's casual heavy focus on Kinect when MS all but abandoned the hardcore except for that one cycled exclusive release for the holiday.

The xbone was mostly about TV when it was unveiled and afterwards till the backlash happened. The heavy TV focus of the Xbone was clearly aimed at casuals and COD is the most casual game there is outside of some WiiU party games. Kinect was a big casual play too that hardcore gamers didn't care about. Actually gaming was an afterthought originally since they thought they already had those gamers in their back pocket.

2) PS4 has more gaming related online features and more innovative and industry shaping ones than Xbox One does.

5) Subscription numbers? What does that have to do with anything? What are XBL numbers? You've already proven your desire to skew numbers in your favour so.... In regards to OS... the PS4's one is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the PS2's OS. You admit you prefer a more sluggish UI because it looks "flashy" than a more responsive and quick access to the only things you should ever need as a console gamer. Preferring a sluggish interface crammed with redundant things is not really a good thing, unless you consider yourself a casual gamer (as you've suggested of others).

No console is perfect or is for everyone. The Xbox One is my console of preference even though it's inferior to the PS4 in its physical design and hardware specs. The main reason why I went the Xbox One route this time is because of the software. I am more excited for MS's exclusive lineup than I am Sony's. Thus far, Bloodborne is the only game that I really enjoy on the PS4. Xbox One has Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Forza 5, and Halo Master Chief Collection that I enjoy. Will that change? Maybe, and hopefully, because I prefer Sony over MS, but as of now it's MS that delivers the kind of experience I am looking for.

I love everything about the PS4 including having the better looking and playing multiplatform games.
I love all the great AAA exclusives that Playstation has from Uncharted, God of War to Gran Turismo.

I still think the Xbox One controller is the better controller but Im used to the Dualshock 4 now so its not an issue anymore.

Oh and I love Killer Instinct so I will be getting another Xbox One at some point. I sold my first Xbox One to get my PS4 and have no regrets.
