FarSight Studios, developer of The Pinball Arcade, made some very controversial comments recently by voicing their extreme displeasure with the Wii U's hardware.

Yeah, the Wii U is already proven to be more powerful than the 360 and PS3 as it has a few games that look a lot better on it. I remember Need For Speed being a hot topic Wii U port and that one had PC assets used.
Digital Foundry has an exhausting list of comparisons Wii U games that measure frame rate and visuals. In every game, either the visuals were on par with 360, PS3 or it looked slightly better. In almost every case the frame rate was lower.
I don't know where this rumor about Wii U playing games in 1080p 60fps came from but it's not true.
It is playing games at 720 outputting at 1080 which is about on par with the x1...
People always forget that the majority of games outside of a handful of first party titles on the x360 and ps3 ran at 540 and or 640... Not even 720.. And even then not many ran at 60fps...
The Wii u at launch ran dirty ports that took its last gen counterparts years to accomplish out the gate on par or better. The games that Devs put time into like rayman and need for speed u ran better... The games that devs didn't care and just threw the title out either ran on par or lacked in fps.
When people buckle down and build a game for the wiiu they run well..

Hey LOL Those comments were made based on a conversation I had with the developer who’s been working on the WII-U version, he was unable to get the console to perform anywhere near what the xbox one and ps4 were capable of. I was misinformed in that I said the ps3 was far more powerful… after speaking to him again, I was told that while the system still does not compare to XB1 or PS4, I was incorrect in regards to the ps3 comparison, and for that I apologize

You should ask him why Bayonetta was so blurry and ran at an unstable 30 fps with a sub 720p resolution on the ps3.. And why the Wii U version of the game had no problems outputting it at 1080p (most likely rendered at 720p not confirmed yet) @ 60 fps with a lot more eye candy?
Lets also take into account Need for Speed Most Wanted which by all accounts ran and looked better on the Wii U ... And Rayman Legends... The Wii U did all this with less support than the ps3 and x360.
The Wii U is doing a lot more with less technically superior hardware and support from developers... If the Wii U had just as much support as the other consoles it would have no problem exceeding the performance of the prior consoles... Look at Mario Kart and 3D World as an example of that..
That too. Mario Kart 8 is a graphical marvel. No one can deny that, and it runs so much more smoothly than many of the 360/PS3 games in existence. If that doesn't speak of it being a better console than anything from last gen, I don't know what will.
Gears of War 3 runs at 30 fps and pushes my 360 hard. While Mario Kart 8 speeds at 1080p 60fps and The grafix look pixar quality, it's awesome!
Look at when they came out: when systems of that calibre were newish. They hadn't mastered them yet not to mention they were working on other versions at the time. For the latter statement if you don't believe me then compare exclusives to multiplat games
It ran like that because it was a crappy port from Sega. They even admitted it. Everyone knows that. They when Platinum dropped Vanquish, it ran so smooth on PS3.
While I definitely agree that the Wii U is more powerful than the PS3, Bayonetta isn't exactly a good example to make that point.
The PS3 version was just an awful, awful port, with little to no optimization, even after patches (still loved it, though :P ). It was not that different from the countless awful third party ports the Wii U has received so far. Bayonetta 2, on the other hand, is being developed only for the Wii U, which means it's being optimized specifically for that hardware.
A bit of an unfair comparation, if you ask me, but yes. Wii U is definitely more powerful than PS3.
I agree that Bayonetta might not be a fair comparison for PS3 games developed by Platinum. But everything else should be ok to compare, and the fact is that Bayonetta 2 is hands down their best looking game to date!

i am not even a nintendo fan or been a fan ever .
but the console can run games like mario kart 8 and super smash bros 4 with ace .
and still can provide more experiences .
its more about the games if i wanted pure power i could have played my games on the PC but because i dont enjoy pc games or pc gaming in general i go for consoles like playstation which is my favorite .
its a cheap attempt to generate attention .

pinball ownership is awesome, but as I mentioned in the article, the pinball arcade is a good alternative, and it's available on all platforms. I buy the PA tables on ps3, cause they give you the tables on the vita also. Playing Monster Bash is a great time waster when you are on the go or on the can!
love it. gotta get back on my pinball grind.
