Zelda Being Tweeted About 40,000 Times Shows Nintendo Still Has It

Hardcore Gamer Writes: "Last weekend was chock full of gaming news. With the Video Game Awards taking place, in addition to Sony’s PlayStation Experience, it was just an all-around good few days for gamers. What’s interesting about it all, though, is despite the magnitude of PSX, it was not the most active gaming-related news tweeted about. No, that award goes to the Zelda."

Well the new Zelda game looks awesome, so I'm not that surprised

phoenixwing3419d ago (Edited 3419d ago )

Let's hope they don't recycle assets this time around. Which seems to be pointing to a no they won't so I'll probably be more impressed with this one.

For the disagrees: Disagree all you want. I personally am never happy revisiting a dungeon I've already been through.

jholden32493419d ago

I'm not disagreeing, but I am at a loss over what you're talking about. Assets get reused all the time in the industry. Not the same thing as copy-pasting an entire dungeon into a new game.

phoenixwing3419d ago

Many Zelda games have you retread the dungeon later in the game that you've already been to for different reasons, sometimes for good and other times for wasting time. it's a form of padding and reusing areas. It's just not my cup of tea to come back to a dungeon. A more open Zelda games means there will probably be less re-using a dungeon in the game and more unique one time experiences with each dungeon they have.

vakarian753419d ago

I wouldn't say many Zelda games do that.

Geekman3419d ago

The only one I can list off the top of my mind that had you revisit a dungeon was Skyward Sword. Not only were you not in there for that long, but it was actually a decent revisit.

Hmm.

If all the tweets related to the different games shown at that Playstation Experience show would be added together..I wonder if they are a lot more than 40k.

Spotie3419d ago

They would, but that would kinda defeat the purpose of the article.

Dubaman3419d ago

Well considering just one garnered more interest than an entire event, that's pretty damn good going.
Though just to give an idea of how popular the Zelda series is and your question has gotten me curious, so i did a little searching:
From 14th November - 14th December, the amount of retweets were as follows:
Uncharted - 92,854
The Order:1886 - 15,218
Project Morpheus - 3,888
Bloodborne - 30,744
Street Fighter V - 44,899
Drawn to Death - 6,573
Until Dawn - 15,680
MLB 15 - 8,089
LittleBigPlanet3 - 24,073

Zelda - 185,705

Of course adding all those PSX games together would give a higher number than just one Zelda game. Considering the consumer base of the PS4 when compared to the WiiU though, it just shows the power of a Zelda title and the love it gets from it's fans.

vakarian753419d ago

I added those together the only reason its higher than Zelda is Uncharted without that it only equals 149,164 which is 36,541 short of Zelda and Uncharted brings it over to 242,018 a 56,313 difference.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U E3 2011 Tech Demo recreated in Unreal Engine 4, available for download

DSOGaming writes: "Remember the Legend of Zelda Wii U tech demo that Nintendo showcased back in E3 2011? Well, Aklar_45 has recreated that tech demo in Unreal Engine 4, and has released it to the public. So yeah, while Wii U and Switch owners won't get a Zelda game looking as good as that tech demo, PC gamers can at least get a taste of it."

Would be pretty awesome to see a Zelda like this.

nitus102377d ago

I do agree but I would not be surprised if Nintendo puts out a takedown notice on the video/tech demo

lol what? We didn't even get to see anything new. Didn't know they were even present.

-Foxtrot2803d ago

How? Hardly anything new was shown off. Is this because Zelda + Nintendo

Personally I'd give it to Yooka-Laylee

wonderfulmonkeyman2803d ago (Edited 2803d ago )

Does it matter whether it was new or not?
I don't think that's how Gamescom judges what wins. Zelda got the award because it's an exciting game, and after all the hate Nintendo has gotten lately outside of BotW, I can't see the logic in equating it to "because Nintendo".XD

That said, I agree with Yooka-Laylee being deserving of an award or two as well; They've really struck gold with it.
I wonder if they'll consider a sequel soon afterwards?

BullyMangler2802d ago (Edited 2802d ago )

The new zelda graphics have so much (unique) attention to detail, that nintendo will surely win awards (again) for best looking game ever created, my boy.

This is actually pretty cool. I can't wait until the final game is released to really explore the temple.

guywazeldatatt2809d ago

I'm wondering how much better the NX version will look. supposedly it will look better. the wii u version looked incredible; can't wait to get my hands on them both.

AJBACK2FRAG2807d ago

Nintendo already said it would be the same game. I stupidly thought this game was going to have online multiplayer because different areas were so huge! Look''s like a gorgeous way to send off the Wii U We had to wait for it but it's absolutely a love letter to Nintendo fan's.

wonderfulmonkeyman2808d ago

I wonder what the glow around the statue of the Goddess will do in the full game, when you interact with it?
I'm guessing something minor like a return to full health, but for all we know, that glow could be a cutscene trigger, or even a special trigger for restoring a small part of the memories Link has forgotten during his 100 year slumber...

guywazeldatatt2808d ago

Unfortunately I didn't interact with it as my time was short, but, just seeing it gave me chills. It was a really emotional moment for me.

wonderfulmonkeyman2808d ago

I saw them interact with it in a previous video, and all it did in the demo was pop up some text saying something akin to "The Goddess smiles upon you".
I'm sure the full game will have it do something more than just that.

quent2808d ago

Just beautiful, I hope the nx will have a cheaper launch price then the wiiu, looking to get back into the ninty games.

guywazeldatatt2808d ago

I assume you don't have a Wii U lol. I'm getting both but figure I'll have an easier time getting a review copy with the Wii U version than NX. I really cannot wait for this game!

SkippyPaccino2808d ago

I pre-ordered it on Wii-u, now just waiting to see what the nx is all about before I pull the trigger.

guywazeldatatt2808d ago

The game is worth it. Playing it at E3 was....well it was the highlight of the show for me.
