Parallax Play:"Nyu Media, publisher of Japanese doujin games, has announced that the Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls! is launching on steam today, as a follow-up to their 2012 release, Cherry Tree High Comedy Club.
While the original was more of an adventure / social sim game, I! My! Girls! takes a more linear approach and tells the continuing story of the Comedy Club as a single story Visual Novel, providing around 3 hours of gameplay over 12 chapters. The sequel also uses the original Japanese names of the characters, instead of those used in the 'westernised' localisation of the original."
"The simple life sim that charmed its way into our game collections in 2012 has a sequel in the form of Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls!. Taking off directly from the formation of the Comedy Club, I! My! Girls! follows the everyday life of the group as they take the next step towards being comedy greats." - Rice Digital
GamingLives takes a look at the follow-up to Cherry Tree High Comedy Club.
"If you know your samas from your senseis and absorb any kind of Japanese media our grubby Western hands can get a hold of, then Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls! will probably appeal a great deal to you. It's a fairly decent story wrapped up with enough humour to not be boring, and a good number of entertaining twists, even if some of the plots just drop out without being resolved"
Cherry Tree High Comedy Club released 2 years ago on Steam and was published by Capcom and localized by Nyu Media. Developed by doujin group Circle 773, it was billed as an adventure game. You’d watch a story play out and in addition to that, manage your time and fatigue levels. This new follow up game strips that whole sim portion in order to deliver a story. While it does indeed do just that, perhaps the game is a bit light on the story side, even affecting some design oversights.
