I for one am delighted that the great bungie are no longer restricted to a single console and this gen, everyone gets to experience the fruits of their labour.

I was always 1-2 achievements away from 100% halo 3/reach/halo4 (halo:ce/halo 2 didn't have achievements, of course :D ), so I'm gonna try make destiny the first "halo" I get all the trophies/achievements for. Assuming there's no ridiculous online based ones like "get ten headshots in a row on iron banner without dying". NEVER getting that without fluking it.

If you read the rest of my comment, you'd see the first part was entirely tongue in cheek and more a stab at the clickbait construct of the headline, especially considering that Destiny is still coming to xbox360/1. But if you want to take a sentence form my comment out of context I have no problem with that :)

I only know one guy getting an xb1 (specifically for the MC collection, and cos his 360 just red ringed) and he is a halo legend, guy can no scope all day long without a second thought, in fact our friendship was founded on halo:ce. He was up in mine on saturday for the UFC and I let him play Destiny for a while, threw him straight in to the Iron Banner. Did it make him want to buy a ps4? Nope. Not at all. It just made him want to get his XB1 sooner so he can play Destiny come september :)

Halo was something you only get on Xbox, now that the next big thing from Bungie is on PS4 the pulling power of Halo is not as It used to be .

Also Halo 4 did no favors for the franchise, convinced many people to move on.

Sure Halo will still have dedicated fans like any franchise, but they are 30-50% of buyers, look at Nintendo games on the WiiU, Mario is still selling but nowhere near the numbers of Mario games on the Wii.

Halo 4 was fun but it did seem a bit different from the previous games - which was to be expected considering the game was made by an entirely different development team who had no hand in the original games.

What I've played of the Destiny alpha and beta on PlayStation 4 had me metaphorically punching the air with joy. The game has the fingerprints of Bungie all over it, obviously it doesn't have Master Chief in it but to me it actually FELT more like Halo then Halo 4. Which is to be expected considering it's made by the team that created and built Halo 1, 2, 3, Reach and the most excellent ODST. So of course Destiny is not a Halo game but to me it feels like its spiritual sequel.

Early adopter Xbox One owners will get the XB one version of the game, PlayStation 4 owners will get the PS4 version of the game. But I know a few folks who have yet to get a next gen console and know about the Destiny Alpha on PlayStation. To non-hardcore this SEEMS like a PlayStation 4 game.

Just my personal opinion.

To the people wondering why halo "fans" would go to a console without halo? Well, my story doesnt really answer this correctly as every gen I've been a multi-console owner, but...

I am a HUGE halo fan, who has owned a ps3 and owns a ps4. It's not an unusual thing.

In fact I'm a bit of an uber-fan, I used to hold halo lan parties all the time (while im on the subject, is it just me or is the lan option in games becoming less and less frequent?), a flash video I made about how everyone will call in sick when halo 2 releases was featured on the front page of bungie, and my old band even wrote songs that we could play halo to.

So yeah, I'm a halo fan. And I'm gaming on ps4. I used to be a multi-console owning gamer but right now, as big a fan I am of halo, and as a huge gaming enthusiast regardless of platform, even the much desirable MC collection is not enough to convince me to buy in to the XB1 just yet, simply because I'm not that forgiving of horrible industry conduct and MS's big middle finger to the consumer last year has put me off the console entirely.

Not to say I wont buy an xb1 eventually, I love games too much not to, but as a consumer, right now, I can't support microsoft for their behaviour, even if I love Halo a little bit too much.

I got way off point, it being that halo "fans" will buy ps4's, not for halo per say, but that it's silly to think halo fans would stick to one console because, Halo. Even though a friend of mine is doing this very thing, he's not a generalisation of halo fans.

For people like myself who are big Halo fans, but not willing to trust Microsoft again just yet with our wallets [I actually dont have a wallet :'( ] Destiny is a pure slice of halo from the source itself, until Halo 5 arrives and we cant help but need to know where the story goes next. And I LOVED halo 4's story because it finally took on board all the expanded stuff fleshed out in novels etc, and it has me excited for what halo 5 will do, this inclusion of the continuty made outside of the games was defintiely influenced by Frankie O Connor, and speaking of Frankie...

the only real person that left bungie for 343 that mattered was Frankie O Conner, and even he joined after halo 1's release (coming from editor of OXM) as the face for their community, writing weekly updates and relaying info to the fans.

In fact nobodys done a better job since then , in my personal opinion. Eventually as Halo 2's development finished up he was given more access to the lore and the infamous "halo bible", his love for the game and its universe eventually landed him the role of being in charge of all the lore.

And now he's at 343 and he's the best person for it story wise. No other major player at bungie went to 343 that I know of, the McLees's are still at bungie last I checked, so was staten until recently, and of course marty's gone now too, but none of these people are at 343. Though I can see staten getting involved with Halo again now that he's a big player over at MS.

Wii Sports sold approximately 2.5 times more than the sales of Halo 1,2,3,ODST and 4 combined. A single Wii game trumps everything in sight including your favorite game of all time, whatever that might be.

Some games need to pass on the torch, Halo needed to end at the third one, and a new series in the same universe could have been born, but Microsoft wanted more halo and Bungie decided not to renew their contract.

If Bungie had stayed in MS, and MS would have let them have the freedom they wanted, Bungie would have tied in all the series, Marathon, Halo, and Destiny under the same universe... because some things in the 3 series are to similar to be coincidence.

I don't think former Microsoft fans will by a ps4 specifically for this game... Since it's also available on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

If they are indeed halo fans, and haven't gotten a next gen system yet, I'd guess they'd buy the system that would allow then to play Halo AND Destiny.

How is it stealing Halo fans when XB1 has both Destiny and Halo MCC coming this Fall? If anything, the recent confirmation of 1080p for Destiny on XB1 and 1080p 60fps, over 100 maps, and the beta for Halo 5 of Halo MCC will probably entice those fans that are still with the X360 to migrate over to the XB1.
The sales figure for both new consoles are peanut still compare to the 80 plus millions consoles sold of the X360.

That said, where is confirmation that ALL of MCC will be 1080/60fps? I think the latest news was that Halo 2 may not hit 1080p. Is that still the case? I know it's a frame buffer issue but I'd rather they just remove the "classic" view option and make sure it hits 1080p/60fps. Similar to the above, it won't cause me to cancel my preorder.

I have been a halo fan from day one, it was the sole reason I got an xbox around xmas 2001. I still enjoy it to this day it has classic fps gameplay. That said Destiny beta has been hella fun. I like tactical use of recharging your power ups and when to best use them, I also am interested to see the two locked subclasses within each main class and see what they are all about.

Halo still has a classical and nostalgia reason for existing.

I also think Destiny could be the new hotness.

So, I am not sure why anyone has to steal anybody, we are gamers, we play games, just because because I go and spend more time on Destiny doesn't mean I won't enjoy me some Master Chief Collection.

Destiny deal is a coup for Sony, but I'd say MS are stealing some Bungie fans back from Sony by pushing the MCC collection at about the same time. If you are a bungie fan looking to join "next-gen" this year the Xbox must be pretty appealing...

It works quite well as a counter if they start pushing the MCC + Destiny (+ COD I suppose) combo at about the same time Sony start pushing Destiny.

I don't think you get it. Halo fans might naturally turn to Destiny as it's pretty hot, and plays very similar to Halo. With Sony and their decent marketing for the game (and exclusive content) it can sway a lot of previous Halo fans to pick up a PS4 for Destiny and not bother too much with the Xbox One and Halo. Guys... When has exclusive DLC really made a difference? Every single gamer knows that DLC 99% of the time is hardly worth it. Exclusive DLC is strictly for the company that has it to use as a marketing scheme, but we all know that the DLC will mean pretty much nothing. Destiny beta is great and all but despite the very similar gameplay it is not Halo. It lacks the universe and things I have grown to love about the series. Halo is a game like no other and has a unique identity nothing can capture. Halo MCC is still my most anticipated release this year and it sounds like Halo 5 will be returning to its arena roots so I am also getting excited for that as well.

I actually was considering getting an Xone for the Masterchief collection and would have taken advantage of the trade in your 360 for $100 off deal at the MS store. Then I played the Destiny beta and thought this is Halo enough for me. In fact it's like a first true next gen Halo game in terms of gameplay and features. Story wise, Masterchief can't be replaced.

Long story short, I can wait until a couple of price drops before gettingmg an Xone
