Three Whole Years Afterwards, Skyrim Modded Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games To Date

It’s been almost three years since the release of Skyrim. Three whole years and thanks to the modding community, Bethesda’s RPG looks just as good - if not better – as most modern-day games. In fact, you’ll be really shocked if you compare the vanilla version with the modded one. Modders have introduced new ENBSeries mods, textures, new female 3D models, as well as a host of numerous graphical improvements

Those modded Skyrim girls look good enough to eat!

Magicite3568d ago

Girls are totally amazing.
But its time for next TES game announcement.
And lets pretend TES:Online have never happened.

UltimateMaster3568d ago

*Looks at huge breast*
Wow, that modder is very lonely.

Roccetarius3568d ago (Edited 3568d ago )

It just proves that Modders are carrying this game. Bethesda is only providing the foundation. It could've been better as well, if they didn't use an old engine for it.

Spotie3568d ago

That's one thing that always gets me about the good looks of PC games. They rely so much on the modding community, and that, to me, takes away from the impact of a game's graphics.

How can you brag about how good a game looks when you need certain hardware and certain mods for it to even look that way?

Einhert3568d ago

Nice attempt to downplay mods peasant,

Now off with thee

GameSpawn3567d ago

The developers have to cater their game to run on a variety of hardware and usually have to set a "minimum spec" to make sure they get enough sales. So don't blame the devs for being lazy and relying on the modding community.

What is the point of making a PC game for high-end $5000+ hardware as the minimum when less than 1% of the PC gaming community would be able to play it. That would be financial suicide.

Having games open to modding like this allows those with the hardware to push the game beyond its initial limits, but it also adds almost infinite replayability because of what you can change or add. You are obviously still limited by what the game engine is capable of, but Skyrim's engine is good enough for the time being judging by some of the high-end mods that have been made.

AndrewLB3566d ago

Yet the stock unmodified version of these multiplats still look better than the console version.

You act as if they only look better on PC because of mods. Which is categorically not true. They always look better on PC, and when modded... FAR FAR better.

edqe3568d ago

Unfortunately even the mods doesn't rescue bad foundation. The game is still empty, shallow, repetitive, etc.

General Shrooms3568d ago

Theres a "Modded Skyrim looks Good" article almost every day.

Vantage3568d ago

Skyrim's vanilla graphics are the graphics up for scrutiny, modded textures and HD packs do not count.

"Skyrim MODDED Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games To Date" is incorrect.

sorane3568d ago (Edited 3568d ago )

They may not count for you, but I can assure you they count for me. Not my fault the consoles can't use them. Even the devs seem to think they count since they include the editor in the first place.

""Skyrim MODDED Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games To Date" is incorrect."

I fail to see anything incorrect about that. It's an amazing looking game on PC.

Vantage3568d ago

No, Skyrim doesn't look amazing, Skyrim with a mod looks amazing. Calling modded Skyrim a game is incorrect. Therefore, "Skyrim modded Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games To Date" is incorrect.

sorane3568d ago

"Calling modded Skyrim a game is incorrect."

Uhh what????? You make zero sense......

"Therefore, "Skyrim modded Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games To Date" is incorrect."

Nope it's still correct. Just because you add a mod to a game doesn't mean it isn't a game anymore. I know from experience. I've modded many games in my day and not once has it turned them into something else. The only thing they've turned my games into is better games.

geddesmond3568d ago

FF14 looks better than those. But the mods do look great

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22914d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko14d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan14d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
