Interesting, here I am playing my Infamos game, in my ps4, I have my box next to it. I had every console since 1982 and I've seen the progression and evolution of gaming and all you do is disagree and call me stupid, as if by laying out my observation threatens your investment. Out of all the consoles I had, my favorites have been: N64, turbofx16 , ps2 and the first Xbox. As you can see, I'm not a follower I don't sway by the mass and Jedi mind tricks don't work on me. The ps4 has more in common with the first Xbox than the ps2. It's so easy to press that disagree without explaining your self. I don't care what machine has what game, I have them both. And through out the history of gaming the power of the machine doesn't determine the outcome of a generation. 3DO and the NEO-GEO were the most powerful machines of their time and you know what happened, but the price, mmmmm , that has a lot to do with it.

LOL yeah right 1080P @ 60 fps is a joke console fanboy. Call me when you can do higher than 1080P on ultra at 200 fps. And people who say that you cant see more than 60 fps are full of crap. Anyone that plays multiplayer where there is a significant draw distance like BF games, counterstrike or any shooter where you may have to shoot at a small target at range.

The draw distance in games and textures far out can get you killed at 60 fps. When you are in a firefight the extra fps you can feel them big time there isnt any distortion at long distances or any funny lag with textures rendering far out when you are destroying a game at 200 fps. Any shooter when it comes to a fire fight the extra fps are felt people that say otherwise are kidding themselves because games do lag when the action heats up and all those extra fps makes sure you are not at a disadvantage when things get crazy. In multilayer 60 fps doesnt even feel smooth somtimes when the crap is blowing up everywhere and it makes it worse if a sniper is shooting at you during that moment.

Maybe for real life but we are talking about games and i bet these scientist never played a video game in their life. And if your're fps dips at all at 60fps you notice big time. You can tell even if you gameplay drops to 55 then back up to 60 there is a noticeable jerk that happens or stutter. If you go from 80 fps down to 60 fps in high physics area you still notice a jerk or stutter in gameplay as well eventhough your fps didnt drop below 60. They way games perform and render you can see it clearly. A game like metro last light their is a clear smoothness of gameplay from 60 fps up to higher fps. Draw distance and smoothness of gameplay is smoother because your pc isnt working so hard to render all that crap.

I game at 1080p on high settings for both BF4 and Titanfall. I get around 60fps and I do just fine and the games look great too.

However, thats why I love pc. If you want to go totally overboard to build a pc that can do 200fps, then you can. I'm not though ;-)

You're a total console retard arent you. My rig runs anything that high for less than a cost of a new console. BF4 runs at 100fp+ on ultra in 64 player matches and that's the only game that pushes it at all. And regular games like bioshock infinate run at 300 fps. The batman games run at 200 fps, boardlands games over 200,skyrim , and BF3 runs at 200 fps. I could plug up 3 monitors and set res at higher than 1080P and still beat the consoles in performance whats your point.

And i havent even upgraded my cards yet. Im going to sell them later they are going for 300 dollars used on ebay right now because they are out of production. Lets see you get that much out of your old hardware when you sale your stuff to gamestop i bet you won't. That's why Pc is the master race our hardware holds it's value longer and can be sold for top dollar after it gets old or go out of production. So my upgrades i wont spend a dime they are already paid for by selling the old stuff.

Don't be silly, having the FPS higher doesn't make you be able to see things from farther away.. it's the draw distance, and post processing, and things like anti aliasing, and the sharpness of the image itself, not how many frames. FPS will help your game runs SMOOTHER, but not help you see FARTHER or with more detail...

It does when someone is shooting at you why do you think pro gamers turn their settings down to med or low to get a fps advantage. It does help in response time ahole. Especially with all the badly programmed shooters out there today AKA BF4.

And if your FPS is locked higher and not dipping everywhere it does help you see things in the distance. Because your computer isnt (*^&(*^*6 and lagging and jerking and textures are loading slow as crap and blurry and god awful like you find on console. Just because a console can render something doesnt mean it will run at a rate that's playable. BF3 could have been the same on last get but it would have ran at 10 fps and they would have used fog and blur effects to cover the bad draw distance also.

If your console or pc isnt powerful enough to run content at a proper frame rate any type of draw distance will only make it worse. That's why killzone games could look good no draw in those games at once. If they were built like a battlefield game killzone would look like crap and run at 20 fps.

Draw distance is what make a game world look big, three-dimensional, and full.
If you look at an older example of good draw distance, look at the half life 2.
If you want to say that those effects that make the world seem alive are only gonna be worth it if you are playing a game at 60+ frames per second, then you have no hope in understanding how graphics work.
Having higher frames may effect how easy it is to react to things, but it's not actually gonna make your games look any sharper. I personally think 30 frames per second is more thatn enough for most single-player games, and I prefer 60 frames for multiplayer. If some online opponent shoots at you when you are playing a 60 FPS game and you still have issues surviving or "feel like the game is lagging"

It's not your machine failing to render the game in 60 fps, it's your internet connection that is having the hiccups to relay the location of everything in the game "world" or "map" between you and other players/dedicated servers accurately.

As far as you console argument, yes, devs could up the graphics to have more effects, but that kills the framerate, and a good developer will focus on having the game play well/smoothly before they worry about how polished the image is. Once they have a good balance between resolution AND Framerate, THEN they start ADDING effects on top of everything.
I would rather have a game be 900p and smooth as butter, than have a game that is 1080p and only hits like 26-30 frames.
But I dunno why you called me an a-hole for pointing out that you are confused.
Although higher resolutions AND frame-rate are the preferred way to play, I prefer to have a game be smooth as possible without sacrificing the look of a game. One thing I actually do alot is turn on as many effects as I can, and let the shadows be lower quality since they are so resource heavy.

Of course the power difference matters. It certainly matters to developers, therefore it matters to consumers. I own a ps3, 360, and ps4. I purchased my ps4 due to Sony's phenomenal first party developers and the games they produce. The quality and consistency of their releases obliterate what comes from Microsoft's first parties. The power advantage is a happy bonus for me. But the problem with the xbone is not the difference in power, it's that the difference in power is costing consumers a 100 dollar premium. That is why it matters. Anyone saying otherwise simply doesn't understand basic economics. And as the owner of a pretty nice a/v setup, I would prefer if the "next gen" console I bought output in 1080p, which is the standard for full hd resolution. You are implying that the speed of the hardware is the only thing that adds value to a console.

It is a significant component, but last generation the Wii had inferior hardware and as far outsold both 360 and PS3.

Some people look at other aspects of the machine.

Some people see value in XBL because its uptime is generally accepted to be higher than the PSN.

Some people know that MS's track record on console and network security is better than Sony's.

Some people see value in Kinect as a family and social gaming tool.

Some people see value in the full-fledged operating systems that the XBox One has and features like snap that it enables.

I see some things on the PS4 that are unique as well. But, only fanboys care solely about the specs of the machine because that is not the only feature that is attractive to consumers... If it was then The Wii would've never won last generation, and the PS2 wouldn't have won the previous generation because their specs were not the most powerful on the market. What we are seeing this generation is something new. MS has shipped a console with Kinect as a required device. Just like Sony gambled that Blu-ray would help it long term, MS is doing the same with Kinect. The verdict is still out as to whether it will or won't help.

BioShock Infinite, one of the best game of last year didn't have multiplayer. Wolfenstein: The New Order doesn't have multiplayer. The Last of Us was a must buy for its single player alone. It was hailed as GOTY 200+ times and most people who talk about it don't talk about the multiplayer (even though it was unique and interesting compared to most third person shooters).

MS blew their AAA load at last year's E3. They haven't announced anything major since Quantum Break, and we know their lineup up until 2016. Halo 5 not until 2015. Gears not until 2016 at the earliest. What else you got?

I own a ps3 and Xbox 360, I only bought multiplats for the 360 because I enjoy Xbox live and the Xbox controller,that won't change as I have sold my PS4 and kept my Xbox one. Sounds crazy but just killer instinct alone justified my purchase, and yes wen calibrated the voice commands work perfectly and is useful for a guy who just switched from cablevision to Verzion. The HYPOCRISY strikes again. Practically every single feature and entertainment grab Xbone has is available on my PC, my phone, and ultimately every device that can access Internet. So why should I own an Xbone because it does multimedia better than it does games?

If you cared so much about those multimedia features being on your console, you'd think twice about paying $60 to access them every year when the alternative is free on the PC. Everything free, is behind a paywall on the Xbone.

Face it: the PS4 has more games, more diverse lineup. It is supported by more devs worldwide. It was shaped by developers and gamers. It ALWAYS will have these cases locked down. Then you have games like Rime, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Shadow of the Beast - games that are almost to a standard that can be considered AAA, whilst the indies you get on your multimedia box will be the stereotypes, and you will have less of them.

It has been built with VR experience in mind, so we will be seeing more immersive gaming experiences through that interface, made by both Sony, the creative indie devs and third parties. Those who have had their hands-on with VR in Oculus and Morpheus hardware have both said that it's solid stuff, and only needs good software support. So there you go. This technology has been getting better results and feedback from gamers from day one, than Kinect has in over FOUR years. Wanna know why? Cause Kinect is a gimmick for gaming. Most of the things you guys boast about it can be done with a cheap microphone. It only causes a loss in immersion, an horribly unstable gameplay - and is only there to appease casual gamers. So it's not a gaming camera - it's a multimedia camera that let's you play bad games.

So YEAH, PS4 it is the gamer's console, because it's supported by the gamer's company, not the "whatever we think consumers think is the latest gimmick" and "how can we get away with screwing over the gamer for the unforeseeable future" company. I agree with the article. For most, the specs mean nothing. Laymen will make a decision based on things such as exclusives and online community. Most will go where their friends are. For every person that writes a comment disparaging a particular platform there are tens, hundreds or thousands who have no knowledge of this "war" and couldn't care any less about frame rates or resolutions.

I know this will fall on deaf ears but play the games you like guys. Whether it is PC, console or mobile there is no platform that is wholly better than another. Why can't we just enjoy both, I'm really getting tires of arguing in this console. I'm getting a Xbox One next month, but I'm getting it for less than a PS4. Why on last gen, when the 360 had a lead over the PS3, all this things mattered? Most of the PS4's exclusives will not be here until late 2015, so no the Ps4 is not the clear winner. Multiplats shouldn't matter because the difference is marginal. People are brainwashed with the PS4's power this generation and it is sad, yes Sony will have great exclusive's but who knows when they will be coming, I hope we don't have to wait until the last 10 months of the generation to get the "best exclusives" like the PS3.

The Xbox already has more variety so far: Ryse Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Killer Instinct, Forza 5, Powerstar Golf, Max the Cursed brotherhood, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, Zoo tycoon, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Xbox fitness (for those soccer moms).

Coming to the Xbox One:
Quantum Break, D4, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 2 and Halo 5, Gears of war, Project Spark, Fable Legends, Below, Crackdown 3, Rare's new IP, and more to come at e3.

Online service:
Xbl: Games with Gold coming in April, dedicated servers when the cloud gets fully up and running consistently. XBL is just more stable than PSN no one can say otherwise. PSN does maintance all the time and you can't access the store or talk in parties or invite friends, but you can play online. PSN also has a history of going down, when was the last time XBL has gone down for than 2 hours? I don't think ever.

PSN: PS+ is a good service but I know I am not alone in saying that I don't the free titles mostly because I buy the games I want when the come out or close to it, so free games don't matter to me, I can understand if you like it I just don't see a point in it for me.

PS Now: I don't see it working tbh and I know most people have their old console's and could just play them on there instead of paying $10/month (just a guess) to play games they already own on their $400 console so they can justify their purchase.

I own both XBO and PS4 and the difference is big in my opinion. That said I play on a 65" TV so I see differences much faster then what you would on let's say a 32" TV.

That said there is nothing wrong in buying multiplatform games on the XBO. Buy and play on whatever system you like.

I enjoy my XB1 the most, no matter what specs say on paper. So far it hasn't translated to the screen enough to matter, and other aspects that XB1 has that PS4 doesn't makes more of a positive difference to me (i.e. better network, exclusives IMO, and even that I like the controller much more. I also like the Kinect for "soft features" not gaming). Not to mention that even without DX12 and potential Cloud Computing the gap created by PS4 hardware is already shrinking...so before we know it, this argument won't even exist anymore. Sure it'll pop up like DRM (which ironically PS4 has admitted it's doing) but it'll be rare. "Remember that time when XB1 couldn't do 1080p/60fps on all games?" "...yeah, but it can now". But then gets the whole premise wrong.

The reason people care is because MOST games are on both consoles. Thus for MOST games that people buy, one will be definitively better and quite noticeable. (those that can't notice the difference, will in time, just like they finally figured out the whole difference between 480p and 600-720p throughout the generation.)

While you know PS4 will get a ton of 1st party exclusives, because Sony has numerous studios pumping out games, Microsoft on the other hand, doesn't. Most of their exclusives aren't Microsoft's, but are paid exclusives, which won't be as feasible with a much smaller install base during this generation.

So one console will definitely pump out a steady stream of exclusive games, is cheaper, and is more powerful so that it will receive better versions of most games.

The other console *might* eventually (2016-2017 at the earliest) get a steady stream of exclusive games if Microsoft gets their head out of their butts, is more expensive, and is less powerful so that it will receive the poorer version of most games.

For gamers/parents choosing one console, it's a pretty easy choice.

If Microsoft can cut the price and bring exclusive games, then many will pick up an Xbox One. E3 most likely won't change this, at least for 2014. They may or may not show that 2015 would have such games and give reason to picking one up. Most likely they'll show at E3 that by 2016 or 2017 there should be a reason to pick ONE up. But I'm still skeptical, because I don't see a bunch of new devs being started and hiring from Microsoft. But I can see a few devs possibly taking some money for some 2015 exclusives. But such a tactic given install disparities between the console, it also might be the last year they can slap such a band-aid on.

Here is what the power difference means (in conjunction with a straightforward architecture). It means most multiplatform games will look and or perform better. It means that some games might have to make concessions on the Xbox One that they won't need to on the PS4. It also means the potential for more from exclusives - whether it's pushing technical feats like in The Order 1886 or some other unknown way, there is more to experiment with on the PS4 than the Xbox One.

Now, how big of a difference these things will be in the upcoming years is unclear, but they are there. If these factors don't matter to you then that's acceptable to. However, that doesn't mean it isn't a factor. The main reason Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriot didn't make it on the Xbox 360 is because it still used a DVD format while the PS3 used Blu-ray. Kojima didn't want to have to restrict his vision of the game because of the Xbox 360 nor did he want to have to put the game on several disks. There is always the possibility that further into the generation a game may not appear on the XBox One because of the power difference - I don't expect it, but it is a possibility.

Last gen I went PS3 and the 3rd party games were not always up to par with the 360 versions but I still enjoyed the PS3 and all its exclusives plus the 3rd party games that looked only slightly better on 360.

I chose Xbox One this gen mostly because Im older than most gamers here and I loved Killer Instinct back in the arcade late 90's era.

All I have to say is that the Xbox One works great and the online service is very stable for both Battlefield 4 and Titanfall.
My friend has a PS4 and games like AC:Black Flag look great on both the Xbox One and the PS4 as does Battlefield 4.

Enjoy the games on whatever console of choice even the Wii U and stop obsessing over tech specs that NOBODY ELSE CARES ABOUT.

not only does sony have better exclusive reso,kzss inss warframe/thunder,ton of great indies ect,but its multiplat games are easily better... it has better first party and a brighter future. xone console exclusives like titanfall and dead-rising sequels are more than likely gonna be on ps4 also.

I bought it specifically for the games that we all know will come out. I expect people that chose a different console feel exactly the same. If it was a role reversal and the PS4 was the 'lesser' system I still would hsve bought it. Again, it is a preference in style. Sure didn't matter to PS2 gamers.
